00:00There are a lot of opportunities in the business of jewelry and one of the winners in this competition is our business partner, Nicole Santiago.

00:10How did she start her jewelry business? Let's find out her secrets and tips here in Negosyo Tayo.

00:18I am Marigel Nicole Santiago. I cater different kinds of diamond jewelry. All were manufactured in Tokyo, Japan.

00:31Usually, I just buy jewelry for my personal use. It's easy for me to get tired of it.

00:39In 2018, I posted my jewelry on Facebook Marketplace and I bought all of them.

00:47Then I came up with the idea that it's a good business because it's easy to sell and a lot of people love jewelry.

00:58We have everything that you need, starting from necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets, bangles, customized pendants.

01:13I'm a certified public accountant. Before, I was a senior tax auditor and then I transferred to a private company.

01:22After that, I quit my job to focus on my business.

01:27Actually, it's very hard because when you're working, our mindset is complacent.

01:34We have a fixed salary every month. You don't worry if you have income or not because you have a fixed salary.

01:43So, I'm very torn if I keep my job or focus on my business.

01:51It's a very difficult journey. Especially, not all Filipinos are educated about diamonds.

01:58We've faced a lot of problems before, especially how to feed our customers with knowledge.

02:09But I can say that now, we've managed it better, especially the customer service.

02:16If they have a doubt, we have a diamond tester. Actually, it's one of the things that I invested in.

02:23It's a bit pricey, but it's needed in the business. We test it right away.

02:29I think the customer service is what keeps us going.

02:33The number one thing that I learned from our sales team is that you build a relationship with our customers.

02:40We're planning to open a mall branch. So, we're working on it, on the papers requirements.

02:47Because of this business, I'm able to travel to different countries.

02:55It's just a vacation, not for business purposes, but I enjoy what I'm doing.

03:00And I also help my family. That's one of the good things that I'm able to help my family.

03:07My advice to our fellow Filipinos who want to start a business, don't be afraid to take risks.

03:15Because business is like a gumball. There's no success story without failure.

03:25So, let's hope that when you start a business, there are drawbacks.

03:30There are still failures, but we can learn a lot from those failures.

03:49To everyone who wants to start a business, I encourage you to take a step.

03:53Have courage to start the business that you plan to start.

03:57And above all, make God as the center of your business.
