00:00Okay, Stacey, so you're the headteacher of John Fletcher of Maidley.
00:04Yes, I am.
00:05Just explain what's going on today at the church here.
00:08Well, we're bringing our Year 3-4 children to Maidley
00:12because our school is just round the corner.
00:15Our history curriculum is now based, in the first instance,
00:18in our history, which is right on our doorstep.
00:21Yeah.
00:22It is... It has that personal connection for the children.
00:26Absolutely.
00:27And our area is absolutely steeped in local history.
00:31Those children can actually see for themselves
00:33what the heritage is around here.
00:35So how important do you think it is for the children around the area
00:38to know about this?
00:39Oh, it's such an important, because, again,
00:41you know, we've got something that's really quality on our doorstep.
00:44And it brings that sense of pride in our community, doesn't it?
00:48That sense of belonging as well.
00:51And that sense of knowing where they come from
00:54and where we've developed today.
00:57Absolutely. So what's the plan for today? What's happening?
00:59So the plan, the children have walked around the area, haven't you?
01:03You've been able to see the local area.
01:05They have written beautiful prayers for the nine men of Maidley
01:09that are on the plaque at the moment.
01:12And they're so lucky, it just so happened to coincide
01:15with the unveiling of this beautiful new plaque as well.
01:18So we couldn't help but come over at the same time.
01:21It's been fantastic.
