00:00A warning to Meralco's customers, let's save money before Christmas because of the shortage of electricity.

00:14Today, there is a warning to our Meralco customers because this month, there will be a shortage of electricity.
00:23During a press conference earlier this morning, Meralco said that it will raise the electricity bill by P43 per kilowatt-hour.
00:32For example, if a house consumes 20 kilowatt-hours, it has a total bill of P85.
00:40Meralco explained that the exchange rate of P1 and P2 is affected by the rise in generation and transmission charges, taxes, and other charges.
00:50According to Meralco, the shortage of power plant generators like the Independent Power Producer or IPP, Power Supply Agreement or PSA,
01:02and Wholesale Electricity Spot Market or WESEM, where they use dollars,
01:08as well as the transmission charge of the National Grid Corporation and the Philippines or NGCP.
01:14They also use dollars to buy fuel and the shortage of electricity bill.
01:19But according to Meralco, they did not raise the shortage of distribution charges.
01:26The increase is due to the increase of generation charges of P20 per kilowatt-hour,
01:34transmission charges of P7 rounded off,
01:40the increase of taxes, P3, and other charges such as the fee to all power and production subsidies,
01:48system losses, and distribution charges, or others, also have an increase of P3 rounded off.
01:57Now, Meralco said that the consumption of Meralco consumers is still higher every summer
02:06because they use air-conditioning, electric fans, and other cooling systems.
02:11It is still higher than this December or the end of 2024.
