00:00Hodge Hill, overall, I'm a resident of Hodge Hill. I don't think it's a big issue here.
00:06Most people are well-to-do, but you do have small pockets of people who are unemployed.
00:12I think, again, it's down to the current climate. There is a lot of, you know, with the living
00:16crisis, costs have gone up. Again, I think the government should, or at least the local
00:22authorities should, you know, with the energy companies and people like that, should be,
00:28you know, put to, you know, stand, you know, really, they should be reducing living costs
00:33overall.
00:34Well, actually, I'm quite surprised. Like you said, it's sort of a high unemployment
00:40in Hodge Hill. If you look around, there's actually some really, really decent areas.
00:46So the houses, you can say, are actually quite expensive. What would opportunities? Well,
00:56I think Hodge Hill is a very, very, can be a very affluent area. We've got a decent
01:04hospital down the road. It is struggling, but we have got decent hospitals. And I think
01:09it's just simply a bit more investment into the businesses. I think that would probably
01:14help.
01:15In Hodge Hill, it depends on the work ethic. If they're not ready to work, and all their
01:19families and their family might be on benefits, they know no better. So we start sending children
01:25to see their parents having a job like I do. My parents always worked. So we've always
01:29been instilled in my family, you've got to have a job.
01:32Well, I weren't aware of what you just said in the first place. It's quite surprised me.
01:37I thought Hodge Hill was quite an affluent area. I thought the unemployment was quite
01:43low in the area. But I don't know, they lost the car factory, didn't they? And they lost
01:51Castle Bromwich, Daff. I suppose it needs more industrial input to get jobs going again.
