As it stands if you forget to put your bin out for collection you need to wait to put it out for the next collection date making sure the lid can be closed on the black wheelie bin, with the correct recycling added to the correct container.

00:00I think, especially if you get through more rubbish than we do, then it starts to pile
00:04up and it starts to cause a stink and, yeah.
00:08Currently, Bristol's black wheelie bins get collected every two weeks, with black and
00:14green recycling boxes and food waste bins collected every week. But do locals think
00:20this is enough? And how would they feel if the council only collected black bins once
00:25a month?
00:27Well, I mean, I think that I live in a student house so we don't get through masses of rubbish
00:37but I think if it was limited to once a month then it could be potentially inconvenient,
00:45especially for us, I guess.
00:48According to the Bristol City Council website, you should put your bins out after 6pm the
00:53day before your collection or before 6am on the morning of the collection and should
00:59be visible from the road.
01:02I don't think they'll like it and it'll just, as I say, just lead to people just dumping
01:07stuff more or overflowing bins which then gets attacked by seagulls or, yeah, or just
01:15left in the street overflowing which doesn't make it a nice place.
01:19One thing that the council are talking about is bin collection. In some areas they might
01:23be trialling collection once a month. What are your feelings about that?
01:28Yeah, I mean, you need a weekly collection in my opinion.
01:33Do you think it's going to lead to antisocial behaviour, things like fly tipping?
01:37Yeah, potentially. I mean, I think, you know, messier streets maybe, right? And yeah, I
01:44mean, I think, you know, the general waste is about once a month I think at the moment
01:49but recycling I think, which is OK because I think people are recycling more, so, but
01:54I think, yeah, recycling collections weekly are kind of necessary.
