00:00Today's multi-provincial tour of the Presidential Assistance of Farmers, Fisher Folk, and Families

00:05in Need program made a stop in Pangasinan. In the financial assistance distribution,

00:105,000 pre-selected beneficiaries across six congressional districts of the province

00:14received 10,000 pesos each. PTV's Benji Durango has more.

00:20Danny, a fisherman from Binmalay, Pangasinan, is nearing the twilight of his life. At 70,

00:26fishing the local river has been his lifelong occupation. However, the past six typhoons

00:31have caused the river to overflow, washing away his prized Samaril fish.

00:51Like him, the future Pangasinan's fisherman is now shrouded

00:54in darkness. A significant portion of the milkfish supply in Dagupan comes from here,

00:59in Lingayen, the capital of Pangasinan. However, due to climate change, both fishermen and farmers

01:05are suffering in hardship. The rice seeds planted here are just starting to grow. Before they could

01:10fully recover from the effects of El Nino, they were hit by a series of typhoons.

01:25Although the locals try to cope with these successive challenges,

01:31they continue to call for government assistance.

01:34We are also concerned about the situation here in Binmalay.

01:52The presidents responded to their plea and immediately went to Lingayen.

02:04The farmers and fishermen were hurt and including Danny, who was also included

02:21in the list of beneficiaries. In total, 5,000 beneficiaries will receive P10,000 each. P50

02:27million were allocated to alleviate the suffering of the people here. The president assured one

02:33thing. He thanked the first responders to the typhoon, who contributed greatly to Pangasinan

02:41having zero casualties.

03:02For the provincial government, this is something they won't forget.

03:33Because of the president's help, Danny can start over.

03:50At least the pain they felt doesn't hurt that much now.
