00:00In Milan, we presented the perceptive recommendations developed in the scope of the project SUMISURA promoted by Sandoz and carried out in collaboration with the Italian association SCLEROSI MULTIPLA and NABA, the new academy of fine arts, through the projects taken care of by the students of the Triennium in Design and the Biennium Specialist in Interior Design.
00:25It is not always possible to see projects like these supported by a pharmaceutical company. The pharmaceutical company is in general the life science department of the industries, but it must take into account what its purpose is, that is, to find open answers to the needs of people, to the needs of patients, which are not limited only and exclusively to aspects of drug supply.
00:54Our aim is to make available as many drugs as possible, but to bring answers to the needs of people, of patients, in this case of people who live with SCLEROSI MULTIPLA.
01:07SUMISURA has been a fundamental element in which the company has played its social role, that is, to coagulate excellences in the field, such as the new academy of fine arts, to try to concretely bring answers to patients and to their quality of life.
01:33In the living room, soft shapes, natural materials, warm colors and soft lights. In the room, it is better to create contrast between the colors of the walls, the floor and the ceiling, and to avoid reflective surfaces and large-scale mirrors. In the bathroom, a shower with the floor and panels with a fan. These are some of the suggested recommendations.
01:51In this proposal that was made to us, we immediately saw the possibility of formulating guidelines, but not related to the geometry of space, of which there are full manuals, but related to the perception of space.
02:05So we immediately had this intuition and we worked with patients affected by SCLEROSI, who helped us to test on our body, with our, I say mine, and with the students of the laboratories who participated in this fascinating project, simulating the first symptoms of the pathology.
02:30So it was a path that immediately had an experiential approach, aimed at falling into this dimension of pathology, and then find the most suitable conceptual and perceptual answers.
02:44The aim of the project on measure is to suggest useful strategies to improve the quality of life of people with multiple sclerosis, and not only, starting from home.
02:53From a recent survey made in 2023 by our association, it emerged that about 20% complained about the problem of inaccessibility within their homes, and 5% identified this problem as a really shocking problem.
03:10The project on measure describes a new concept, which is to reduce the architectural barriers, to have an auxiliary, to have a rethinking of the internal spaces. Everything can be done without going beyond what people want. So the beauty can also exist in the measures of reducing the architectural barriers.
