00:00Hello, Acharya Prashanthji. I'm Adarsh. I'm a B.Tech first year student. I wanted to ask
00:08about the issue of pseudoscience. It's in part in our daily life because it's in everyone's
00:18life. Everyone faces it day to day, like the vastu, kundali, and we take major decisions
00:26of our lives based on it, like which college to go, who to marry, when should we inaugurate
00:35anything or like those kind of things. And when we question it, we are just told it is being
00:41followed. You just follow it. Why do you have to question it? And it sometimes frustrates us
00:48and we can't even question it back. So how do we like, how do we challenge it?
00:57Because we don't have that much of liberty to question the elders this precisely.
01:07Am I not an elder? Yeah. How are all of you then raising so many questions to me?
01:15Hmm. Liberty is not something that somebody gives you some quota of.
01:26Liberty is who you are. Liberty is not even your birthright.
01:33Liberty is your inner inseparable nature. You always have that liberty.
01:38The question should be, the more honest expression should be, I do not exercise my liberty.
01:46Instead you are saying I do not have that liberty. You have that liberty. You don't exercise it.
01:52You don't exercise it out of fear or greed. If you exercise your liberty, there would be
02:01consequences. That would be a hit on your interests. You don't want to run that risk,
02:07right? Otherwise, if the mic is not there, the mouth is always there.
02:14Get up and speak. Who can stop you? Or, someone has said, if you want to expose a fraud,
02:27participate fully in it. If you want to expose a fraud, participate fully in it.
02:35They tell you, come beta, lunch karlo. Say, muhurat nikal ke batao. Participate fully.
02:47For everything there has to be the kundali, the muhurat and whatever those things are.
02:52Why should all the astro-antics and the horoscope thing be related only to marriages?
03:02It should apply to everything. You want to hire a driver, a maid, you want to accept someone as friend,
03:13hire a driver, a maid, you want to accept someone as friend, ask for their horoscopes.
03:25If it is supposed to affect your life,
03:29then it would affect your life in the form of a friend as well, no?
03:34Or is it only the spouse that affects your life? Anybody that you are related to will affect your
03:42life, no? Get it embossed right on your door, the main gate. Don't enter without horoscope.
03:58And there should be some astro-chap available sitting right at the main gate,
04:04who would check the horoscope and then see whether or not to allow entry.
04:08Even pet dogs must not be adopted without looking at their horoscopes.
04:17Why? They affect our life so much, don't they?
04:21Graha, nakshatra, kundali, rashisam milna chahiye. Are they not living beings?
04:29All that you need is the time and place of birth that even a pup has.
04:33That even a pup has.
04:37We can have a kundali there also. Participate fully.
04:44But this was more towards the trivial side.
04:51The real thing is when you say you don't have the liberty for something,
04:56the provision for something, you must look into yourself and ask,
04:59ah, come on, who can take it away from me? I am not insulting you. I am just inquiring, right?
05:09Yes, you are elder to me and that itself entitles me to ask a question, no?
05:15If I won't ask a question to my elders, to whom should I go?
05:21It is because you say that you are the elder, hence I am asking the question to you.
05:26And what kind of elder would it be who would disallow a question?
05:32Either admit my question and respond to it or don't impose yourself on me. Simple.
05:42When you will see that you actually have the freedom, the choice to inquire, ask, investigate,
05:51investigate, then you will see what really stops you.
05:54It is not the fear of authority. It is the fear of losing privileges.
06:01Authority does not rule you just because it is authority. It rules you by tempting you with
06:09privileges. The lover of truth must be ready to let go of privileges.
06:17If these privileges are coming to me on this condition, then it is too heavy a price to pay.
06:24I refuse the deal. I will not take this deal.
06:30I will not take this deal.
06:44Never be afraid of age or experience or labels or authority. Never.
06:52In fact, you should go more daringly and more selectively to them.
07:06Now you say that you are the knower. Therefore, it is all the more important that you answer my
07:14questions. No? Because you are declaring that you are the knower.
07:20Now you say that you are an elder or the teacher. Therefore, I am coming to you.
07:30I want to learn. What else is a teacher supposed to do? Teach me. And if you can't teach me,
07:39why do you call yourself the teacher? That won't do.
07:45Knowing is your nature. Therefore, inquiry is always the right action.
07:57If you don't inquire, you are no more a human being.
08:01This auditorium, this setting here is a product of human inquiry, not somebody's authority.
08:06No God commanded, let there be an auditorium. And an auditorium emerged straight from the earth.
08:20Is that how this auditorium came into being? Some authority commanded, let there be an auditorium.
08:26This auditorium has been founded on the basis of centuries of human exploration, inquiry,
08:38experiments. Think of the things here. They might appear familiar to you now,
08:43but they take a long time coming. Think of these instruments, these equipments. Think of the chairs,
08:52the architecture. There is no pillar here. How is this thing, roof, hanging on our head, run away,
08:58it will fall. How did all this happen? Because somebody said, follow me.
09:10See, see, they are already kicking. Okay, fine, I will pose. Follow me.
09:15Is this how great things happen? Somebody stands like God Almighty and says, I command.
09:26Is this how things happen? No. A lot of people, a lot of young inquirers like you,
09:32they sit down, they work in the labs. There are certain theses and then
09:40sometimes they are accepted, sometimes they are rejected. Theories come, theories go.
09:46From there, you look at this video camera. It is a product of human ingenuity.
09:54It is not a product of rituals or beliefs.
09:58Horoscopes do not give birth to this video camera, do they?
10:07And we should be grateful. Even the astrologers are using
10:12latest technology without being grateful at all.
10:25Latest technology that astrology did not give birth to.
10:32And yet astrology is exploiting the technology for its own furtherance.
10:43And I can say that because I am right now standing in a temple of learning, right?
10:49And it has been extremely conclusively proved, demonstrated that astrology is not a science at all.
11:00It is a conjecture. It is a belief system. Belief system with no material basis at all.
