00:1122-year-old Kishore Singh was the 12th dropout, while 20-year-old Deepak Kumar was a law student.
00:17There are two Adhruv Chintaram, Kishore and Deepak.
00:21One is originally from Bulandshahr and the other is from Noida.
00:24They took premium subscriptions to three gay dating apps and created their profile.
00:29They even added their own photos to make it look genuine.
00:37They would spend hours chatting on the apps and even went out on dates.
00:41After meeting them on multiple occasions and building trust,
00:44they would invite their victims over and get intimate with them with their consent.
00:49But little did their victims know that they would secretly record them engaging in sexual acts.
00:55The suspects then used to blackmail the victims, saying that they would publish the videos on social media
01:00and demanded money or valuable items in exchange.
01:11It was revealed that the suspects had been operating for over six months.
01:16But it all came to an end when a 20-year-old victim approached the police and filed a case.
01:21The 20-year-old victim said that the suspects demanded Rs. 30,000 and a gold necklace
01:26and threatened to publish the video on social media if it didn't meet their demands.
01:31Based on the complaint, the police sprung into action.
01:34A case was registered under Section 3084 of the Bharatiya Naya Sanhita.
01:39Under this section, a person shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term that may extend to 7 years
01:46and shall also be liable to a fine.
01:48According to the National Crime Records Bureau, dating scams increased by more than 24% in 2022.
01:55And in 2023, people lost over 200 crores due to these scams.
02:00The police said most of the victims don't file complaints, so such cases often go unreported.
02:18The two suspects, Kishore and Deepak, were traced with the help of electronic surveillance
02:23and were arrested on 13 September 2024, the police said.
