00:00I am joined by Robert Griffin the third James White field. Yes, Mina Kimes. All right, so
00:11first play, we're going to look at second into one of the Patriots first offensive plays.
00:18What's going on, everyone? My Catholic Taylor Kyle's here. Yeah, pretty good timing now.
00:22Yeah, so I was like, Oh, what? I like the delay. Yeah, no, no delay anymore. People.
00:27We got a new computer in the Catholic household. And we have a new episode of the Patriots
00:32daily podcast here for you. Presented by CLNS media powered by prize fix and game time.
00:38We did a post game show last night recapping our instant reaction to the Patriots 3416
00:433116 3434. I got it right in front of me. It's right in front of me to not using my
00:49resources here. But we're gonna re recap it with with Taylor's film study with some quotes
00:56and notes from Gerard Mayo this morning. And some pressing Patriots news that just
01:01came in about an hour and a half two hours ago. So we got about an hour to hit everything.
01:05So we're gonna go as fast but as thorough as we can do it. So let's start with the obvious
01:10Jabril peppers earlier this afternoon reinstated by the NFL removed from the commissioners
01:16exemplus as plenty of you know, peppers was arrested back in October for alleged assault
01:24and alleged cocaine possession as well. Now he obviously pleaded not guilty to that was
01:30in court last week. And Mike Reese was actually there. So he has a lot of this information
01:36for me. But essentially, there was some back and forth with with his attorney with the
01:40plaintiff's attorney. But Doug Cide really added some more context to this today in a
01:45tweet mentioning that peppers was removed from the list because the baseline suspension
01:51for a violation like this would be six games and he's already served seven games. So the
01:56league is kind of using that as his suspension. Now if more details come out if his jury date
02:01set for this January, if that you know, if anything else happens, the NFL essentially
02:06said they reserved the right to actually suspend him. But for now peppers is back. So when
02:10he was on the list, he was not allowed to be he was not allowed to practice he was allowed
02:15to work out he was being paid but he couldn't play in games now he's back. He wasn't in
02:20the building. As Gerard Mayo told us we hadn't seen him around. Now he will be with the team
02:24the Patriots put out a release this afternoon that he will be added back to the active roster.
02:30So Taylor, your thoughts on peppers being back? I know we're not going to really get
02:34into you know, the nitty gritty of this thing, but more so football wise, right? We had they
02:38struggled yesterday against Miami. So having him back in that secondary will be pretty
02:42beneficial. So just your thoughts on peppers being back with the peppers. Hopefully, peppers
02:47being back at the Patriots. Hopefully starting this week. I mean, yeah, we want to tread
02:52lightly because this is a very sensitive topic. I think it's significant that Robert Kraft
02:56said himself that obviously, if peppers was found guilty, he'd be off the team. So it's
03:01kind of really weird middle ground there right now, where he's, we've heard from the Patriots,
03:06they're gonna have him around, and he is going to be in the building. But we still don't
03:09know for certain because obviously ruling hasn't passed down. So we're there just from
03:14my perspective. But in terms of the X's nose, the player and all those kinds of things.
03:18I mean, it's another big boost kind of like Christian bar more where obviously, you know,
03:21there's going to be some rust the bar more is knocking off or it's like the pad level.
03:24Sometimes the strikes aren't really accurate. Like it's some things he's got to get under
03:27his belt again before he can return to that ship that he was in to bro. Peppers obviously
03:31has been out of football for a month and a half now. Is it too? Yeah. Well, I'm not coming
03:36on two months now, basically the whole month of October and then the whole month of November.
03:40So yeah, that's tough. So you're talking like basically training camp. Like that's a long
03:43time to have missed. So even if he gets in the lineup, I think it's going to be one of
03:47those situations where it might take him a couple weeks before he's really fully back
03:51in the swing of things. If he even can really get back to 100% before the end of the season.
03:56But when I think of peppers and what he, what the defense is lacking out him, I think one,
04:01they're big nickel package. We've been talking about how they've been using more base. They
04:04used one snap of base against the Dolphins last week because Rod Mayo said, we got a
04:08match speed and speed. We kind of figured, okay, well, base has been working better for
04:12them, but maybe they will go back to the free safety package, especially because Kyle
04:16Duggars back in the fold going to get to him more later. Um, but you know, it's kind of
04:21for some guys to be in roles where they don't typically Excel, where Jabril peppers was
04:25your slot corner in those three safety packages. And obviously him as a blitzer and just being
04:30stout at the point of attack, no one else really brings that other than Kyle Duggar
04:34and Kyle Duggar was used as a linebacker. So now you have some more flexibility where
04:38ideally guys can be put in spots where they succeed, where maybe you have Marta Mapu deep,
04:42because as I've said, I cannot stand when they use him your line of scrimmage against
04:46runs.
04:47I just don't really think he holds up very well. The efforts there, he cares, but it's
04:50just, he's not the biggest guy. Del Pettis on the smaller side, really more of like a
04:54tight end eraser kind of guy. And then Jalen Hawkins can do a little bit of everything.
04:57He's not really quite as limited, but none of them make the same impact that preppers
05:01does as a run defender. Even Duggar, I don't think really has that same level of impact,
05:06in his role. So it would be big for the run defense. I think big for the communication
05:10as well on the back end, obviously a captain, someone who has coordinated that secondary for
05:14a long time was their primary free safety. So calling a lot of those signals there.
05:18So it would be again, a really big boost if he's able to contribute, even like 65,
05:2470% what he was when he was on the field. Yeah. Peppers a captain, like you said,
05:29something that he was, he was in that the falling of, of all these Patriots captains,
05:34David Andrews drew on Bentley out for what looks like the season, at least for Andrews,
05:37maybe not Bentley, but this, this situation happens with peppers. Now he comes back.
05:42I can hopefully add to that secondary. We'll see what happens. Like you said,
05:46I wonder if he gets back at it as soon as this Sunday, at least according to the team,
05:50he's going to be on the active roster, but you know, as far as a ramp up period, right?
05:54He hasn't been in the building. I'm sure I would assume as a, as an athlete that he is,
05:58he's been working out on his own, but hasn't really been around the guys hasn't been around
06:01the team. So we'll see what happens there. But yeah, that is the news around peppers being added
06:06to the Patriots active roster taken off the commissioner's exemplus today, reinstated by
06:12the NFL. All right, let's get into some of these Patriots centric storylines following yesterday's
06:18loss day, because obviously they get embarrassed yesterday. That was the, the buzzword around it.
06:22We talked about it on the show last night, just not good football all around defense,
06:26struggled offense, struggled penalties, mental errors, things of that nature. Now
06:32something that came out of yesterday's game or, you know, the locker room thereafter
06:37reports from Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports from Mark Daniels from mass live that
06:42there was a, you know, a lighter feeling in the locker room that, you know, in some corners like
06:46Drake may was upset, head down, not, not pleased with it. And according to these reports in other
06:52corners players, smiling, joking the, the senses, you know, not really caring about what's going on
06:59and what happens Patriots losing their second in a row putting out that again, that embarrassing
07:05showing on the field. So you were down there. So I want to get your thoughts on what you saw from
07:10this. And also, I guess if you think it really matters, right, because there there's two sides
07:15of this, where, you know, I look at it and I think, I think it's a bad look because a lot of
07:21it is an image thing. When the locker room is open to reporters, it's a, it's an image and it's
07:27what you're, what you're portraying, what your team looks like. And that's why Bill Belichick
07:31was so stingy on this, right. When, when the locker room is open and don't say anything
07:36to reporters and don't speak for only speak for yourself, don't speak for others. There was really
07:40a calculated effort to, you know, show that image. And I think that's obviously been lost with this
07:46new regime where, you know, Mayo's kind of stepping on his words a lot and players are saying more and
07:51and things of that. And that may have leaked out yesterday where, you know, it's almost like,
07:56you know, just show you're mad when the media is in the room, but regardless, I don't know how
08:01much it really matters. I wanted to get your thoughts on it since you were down there and,
08:04uh, and kind of give your, uh, give your take on it. Yeah. I mean, there were just a couple
08:09storylines that came out of that game in terms of the post game things and some of Mayo's comments
08:13or whatever that, I mean, you know, me, I, I I'm a bit of a contrarian when it comes to the drama
08:18in a, I try to make sure that I try to make sure that I'm at least like listening to others and
08:23making sure that I'm not just living in my own bubble. And I will say, I do respect the opinions
08:28of the people who were here during the second dynasty and even the first dynasty, obviously,
08:32because they've seen what those locker rooms look like. And I'm sure that's coming from a place
08:36where they have a standard set in their minds and they're now seeing something different.
08:39And even we know last year after those losses, it felt like after every single one, it felt more
08:45and more like a funeral, right? Where it just felt like guys were mentally drained. They didn't
08:49really, I won't say I didn't want to be there, but there was just a sense of like, geez, I can't
08:52wait until this is over. That's all people were saying. It just was so glum. Now this year, I know
08:58James White, I'm glad he tweeted it out before the show started. Cause he said, Hey, it's a new
09:02generation of players. I wouldn't read too much into it because we do know one it's new generation
09:07and also Gerard Mayo's new kind of coach where he's not going to necessarily always be like, Hey,
09:11be buttoned up. You got to have this type of image for the media. He wants guys to be
09:17themselves and you kind of step on your foot. If you want to encourage guys to be themselves.
09:20And then you want to give them instructions of being like, yeah, but when the media is around,
09:23do this, then it's like, okay, well now I'm getting mixed signals. Now that is a philosophy
09:28that Gerard Mayo is going to have to live with. Like with McVay, he's very similar. He likes to
09:32give his players freedom. He likes them to be open. He has a track record of success. So if he
09:36like this season where they're stumbling, he's not going to be, Oh, Sean McVay on the hot seat.
09:40It's okay. You know, it's a rough year. They're a young team and all honestly sounds kind of
09:44familiar, young team, you know, a lot of growing pains that come with that. Um, this philosophy
09:49that Mayo is going to have to deal with and all the backlash that comes with it. Me personally,
09:52when I was in the locker room, in fact, my guys that were laughing, I'm thinking like DeMario
09:55Douglas, I know, but Darian Lowe and DeMontre Jacobs were pretty light with each other,
09:59but also like, that's just how some of these guys are. And I know people aren't going to like that.
10:03And I know I've seen people even in the chat say everybody who laughs needs to get benched or like,
10:08come on, come on. Like Mayo said, when he spoke to the team, he did not feel a lack of, of, um,
10:16disappointment in the loss. It wasn't, didn't seem like there was a sense of
10:19non-accountability some guys, especially because this was a blowout that was pretty much decided.
10:24Obviously there were a couple of plays where you're thinking, okay, we'd like the San Francisco game.
10:28Maybe if they are perfect, they can make this work. But we all know that by halftime, basically,
10:35I know all the reporters were sitting, you know, eating our tender saying,
10:38this is about preserving dignity. Just don't embarrass yourself. And frankly,
10:42I know they pulled to, I know people say like, oh, you know, uh, they weren't even trying at
10:47the end. I don't think that's true. I genuinely think the defense did play better. The Patriots
10:51outscored them 15 to 10. Obviously, like I understand it's not the biggest deal in the
10:55world because they got outscored 24 to zero in the second quarter alone. But I did think they
11:00showed some resilience in the fight and all the things that we've said, where you can say that
11:04you don't like Mayo and you can complain about all these things, but you can't say that they quit in
11:07any of these games, which I think is the most important part for a young coach where next year,
11:12this roster is probably going to look a whole lot different. And also when you look at the guys who
11:16I think you'd kind of think of as being the biggest culprits, they're guys who are either
11:20very young and inexperienced, or they're just replacement level guys. Again, I think at some
11:26point with this being a blowout where mentally, it's not like the losses where you're losing on
11:30the final drive. Those are such a gut punch where emotionally you're. And those have felt like that
11:36in the locker room this year, the Miami game, right? The Miami game where Jalen Polk, we thought
11:41he got in the end zone and then he didn't. And they ended up not winning that game because of
11:46the toe drag in the end and stuff like that. Like those were somber locker rooms because it was
11:51close because it was tight. And I liked that you mentioned the, the, like how it was when the old
11:57dynasty and the old, you know, under Belichick and, and Doug also, we're going back to another
12:01Doug Kai tweet, but he tweeted earlier that, you know, his opinion on it, like it was different
12:06covering the dynasty area because it felt like he tweeted. It's hard to describe just how
12:12depressing the postgame locker rooms was because losses were so few. Yeah, they were, well, they
12:19were so few and far between. So when it happens, it's like, oh shit, we actually just lost this
12:22game, but also the repercussions were a lot worse, right? It wasn't going from three and eight to
12:28three and nine, it was going from, you know, 12 and four to 12 and five and missing the one seed,
12:33or it was being knocked out of the playoffs. So like there, there's levels to it now, you know,
12:39you shouldn't not care. Like, and that's why I, I don't fully think that it's you know, it's a
12:45non-issue and a non-story, but there, some of it's like, you know, let's, let's realize what this
12:49team is. And also, you know, Mayo's going to have to sort of continue to rebuild this thing and reset
12:54the culture. And he said it today too, in his, in his day after press conference where, you know,
13:02he knows that those guys were upset. So that's kind of where we'll go with this as well. Did you
13:05have anything? I know we wanted to do the culture thing and he mentioned today, you know, he never
13:11thought that he was going to be able to reestablish this culture in one year and that it is a process.
13:15He's been saying, he's been saying that this entire time, everyone's been saying that this
13:18entire time, it was not a one-year rebuild. Yep. And so I just, that kind of goes from
13:23the locker room thing to the culture that they're setting, where I kind of just wanted to get your
13:28thoughts even more on like that quote, where it's not going to be a one and done and there's sort of
13:33a, they need to reset this thing, but they, it's going to be on their own terms. And it's not just
13:37going to be all of a sudden, A, we're the same as a Bill Belichick led team years ago, but B,
13:43we're all of a sudden, this is Gerard Mayo's team and this is exactly who we are. And you're
13:46going to know it like there isn't really a full identity yet. And I think that's okay.
13:51I agree. And when you talk about the dynasty or Patriots, like you had the best coach of all time,
13:55the best quarterback of all time, there was a different standard. That culture wasn't made
13:59overnight either. Like you had 2000 and that wasn't a great season for the Patriots. Obviously,
14:04you know, Tom Brady and that defense dominate and are able to win a Superbowl in 2001, of course.
14:10But again, that contributed to the standard that was set. And when you had guys like
14:14Brewski, like McGinnis, like Chris Price tells us all the time, there's a corner of the locker room
14:19where to leave, you would have to basically walk through all the scariest people on the Patriots
14:24defense. And they'd be like, oh, you sure you want to go home? You sure about that?
14:28Right.
14:29He'd be like, no. He'd go back and put your stuff.
14:31He'd go back and he'd go and get another pump.
14:33I literally used to work with Willie McGinnis. He's one of the scariest MFers I've ever met in
14:37my life. He was always very kind to me. But I remember we got into an argument once over like
14:41a Jets coverage where I'm telling him like, Willie, I think this is cover four.
14:45And he started to get a little frustrated with me. And I was like, you know what?
14:48I'm going to take my L. It doesn't matter. It's not worth it.
14:52It's very different now. And now this year, you're talking about like,
14:55who are the more intimidating people? It's like Bentley, it's David Andrews.
14:59Obviously, they're still in the locker room. And I'm sure, you know, if they want to say
15:02something about it, and they're very upset with it, they'll speak up and say something.
15:05But I just think we do need to understand what this is. And that as much as we want
15:10everybody to be fully bought in, and we want them to be like, you know what? No,
15:14I don't care that we're foodie. Like I want us to, you know, we're gonna take this so
15:18not necessarily take it so seriously. And I think they get coached hard as well.
15:22Like we don't see it. But everything we ever hear from the building is like no
15:26male like kind of puts them through it, obviously, as lighter days of practice. But
15:30this is a guy from a military family who was the linebacker and captain for what was
15:35perennially one of the best defenses in football. I do not think he's just laying over and being
15:39like, hey, do what you want. But I do think he wants them to have some level of autonomy.
15:43Now, Drake may is trying to help set the culture, right? He's saying, remember this feeling. He's
15:48the one who looks to jacket. He's the one who's holding these offensive meetings like you're
15:51starting to see it take shape, but it will take time. Frankly, it's going to take you winning
15:56some games as well. So guys really are bought in because it's tough to be fully invested team wide.
16:01I'm not saying that's okay. And when guys and also when we've seen guys play poorly,
16:05what happens? And we're going to talk about that later. Michael Wilson's been cut.
16:09Raquel McMillan's been cut. It's not like they're just resting on their laurels and like guys do
16:13whatever the hell they want. You will get cut if you are not meeting their standard of play
16:17or you will get benched. So again, we're going to get more on that. I just think we need
16:23every week to have a level of like, let's come together and remember what the season is.
16:28Now I will say next week needs to be like the week after the Jaguars game. Yeah,
16:36it needs to be. Yeah. Mayo is saying this was not good enough. Like we need to do so much better
16:41and you need to respond. If you don't, then these things are going to, they might snowball.
16:45You go into the bi-week having lost what will be three in a row. And that's going to be a very bad
16:49look where I'm not going to have a whole lot to say. Cause that's what I'm like. Yeah. And now
16:52you're about to face a murderous role of quarterbacks and offenses and just well-coached
16:55teams, right? Yeah. You're in a pretty bad spot, but I hope they respond this weekend and we will
17:01see if they do. But if they do, it will continue a pattern of when their backs are truly against
17:05the wall this season, they have responded and they have played harder for their coach
17:09and more disciplined. We'll see if they can do it again. Yeah, it'll be a, it'll be fascinating.
17:13This coming weekend is obviously that this indie game, it's really what many feel like is there one
17:19winnable game left on the schedule. You have Arizona coming, obviously the chargers played
17:23tonight, but they're you know, in the playoff picture right now, a couple of Buffalo games.
17:27And then this season's already over. I can't believe we only have five games left. It's
17:31as, as slow as it's been. I feel like it's also kind of flying by the fact that we're
17:35already at Thanksgiving. You mentioned the, in that culture segment the idea of Mayo coaching
17:41these guys hard. And I think that kind of dovetails well into our next thing, which is
17:47these lineup changes. So I want to get into all that. But before we do, I also want to talk about
17:52our friends at prize picks because prize fix is the best place to get real money sports action

19:24our settings wrong. This is kind of fun. Now that I have my new computer, I can actually like produce
19:29and not just have my computer running like crazy, looking like it's going to blow up in front of me.
19:35Yeah, it's wild, but lineup changes. Let's hit those. I know you have a lot of thoughts. I know
19:40you wrote something today on clnsmedia.com about these lineup changes. So if you haven't checked it
19:45out, go to Taylor's sweater or go to clnsmedia.com. Taylor has a whole thing on it and who could
19:50potentially be benched as the Patriots kind of move this thing forward. He was asked today,
19:55another Doug Codd mentioned because Doug Codd was the one who asked him about this.
20:00If yesterday's performance against the dolphins could bring lineup changes to the mix and Mayo
20:05said yes. And that's all he said. And he smiled back at Doug and was like,
20:09yeah, basically we're going to be benching people. So a lot of mistakes on the offensive line,
20:13some mistakes in the back end as well. So I'm just going to give you the floor and you can kind of
20:18go through what you're thinking of this and who you think could potentially be sitting and not in
20:22the starting lineup for the Patriots as they move forward. Yeah. So I'm going to start with the
20:25offensive line because I feel like that's the area where they had the most issues. I'm just
20:29going to kind of run this through and you guys can walk as it's going. Now, when Mayo was asked
20:34about the benching, one of my, my initial response was okay. It's like, if you're looking at who
20:38deserves to get benched, probably the tackles and it's probably Kyle Duggar, but with dairy and low,
20:43my issue was who you play. If it's not the dairy, right? Like literally if, if even if you kick
20:48Mike and went to outside, like you're not going to put city. So it left tackle. You already put
20:52city. So all right. Tackle. You don't want to keep moving. Mike and one who is, he's already
20:55struggling the season with, you know, having to switch back and forth. So the, my thing with
20:59low, especially when I look back on it, the penalties got to stop, got to stop unacceptable.
21:05He is top 10 among offensive linemen and penalties. And he's missed three full games and only played
21:1011 snaps against the Texans. That just cannot happen, especially in a game like this, where
21:15you have four or I'm sorry, three pre-snap penalties, three false starts on top of a hold.
21:20Now I understand Gerard Mayo mentioned sometimes on those holding calls, those are more judgment,
21:24but also if you get beat and you grab somebody and I can see before the flag even comes out.
21:28Yeah, you probably deserve it. Now, but Darian outside of the penalties, I thought he was fine.
21:34He wasn't really challenged that much in past protection because he was going up against a lot
21:37of Emanuel Agba. He's not a really great pass rusher at this point in his career. Trey Jacobs
21:41had the tough assignment with chop Robinson. Who's been one of the best pass rushers in the
21:45NFL over the last month. So Darian, if his discipline improves, then I can continue to say,
21:50okay, maybe he can stick around. It's like that bridge that we've talked about next season,
21:54but shooting yourselves in the foot like this, that can't happen. It cannot happen. So need
21:59better from Darian low in terms of his discipline. And then obviously you would like to see more
22:03consistency as a player, but you also kind of know what Darian is. You can live with that.
22:08You can live with that inconsistency play-wise. May has kind of made that happen over these last
22:14few weeks, but the pre-snap penalties and stuff, putting them behind the eight ball,
22:17putting them behind schedule. I agree. It's totally unacceptable.
22:20Exactly. Now the person on the left side who I was more upset with was Michael Jordan.
22:24If you actually look at, so I think PFF has a Darian low down with two sacks. And I thought
22:30that as well, especially when I looked at it initially back and I was like, I think Michael
22:34Jordan was actually supposed to help him a couple of times. There was one where it looked like,
22:38um, I don't think Michael Jordan read it out correctly. And I just think that he was supposed
22:42to help on it. The first one he's supposed to help on a twist. The guy came completely unblocked.
22:47They're exactly standing there because the defensive tackle was coming at him. And then
22:51the looper was untouched. Then there was another rep where it looked like remandary Stevenson was
22:55picking up a linebacker, Michael Jordan picked him up. And that was the play where Drake may
22:59got stripped sack because, but Darian didn't have the right leverage and basically had to block him
23:03with sealer already having the inside advantage. Could he have played it better? I'll ask him,
23:09but at the same time, it's very difficult to stop a guy like Zach sealer.
23:13When you don't have the chip help you need. You could also see on the other side, I'm going to
23:16break down this play later, but you can see on the other side, they handled a little better,
23:19which made me think even more. I think that was on Michael Jordan and we talked about it.
23:23It's cool. Strange going to play center. Is he going to play left guard? It sounds like he's
23:27going to play center because he's been working with David Andrews. He's been kind of having a
23:30different mentality in the classroom and all that, but Oh, I reached the end of it. I was
23:35talking for a while, but when I look at this offense, is Ben Brown perfect? No, ideally he is
23:42frankly like your third backup center. Like he was on the practice squad for a reason with Vegas,
23:47but I don't see him as the glaring issue. I see Michael Jordan withing on pulls,
23:52not sustaining blocks in the run game, not sustaining runs as a path protector.
23:55Even at times where he got walked into the quarterback multiple times in the line games
24:00are an issue every single week. And most of the time, just from my perspective, it looks like
24:05it's more on Michael Jordan. A lot of those times than it is on Darien low, like we saw right there.
24:10So I think if you're going to replace anybody on the offensive line, and obviously a lot of
24:14this has to do with Cole strange and whether he comes back, we do not have a timeline.
24:18I'm just kind of taking a day by day with him. So I don't want to speculate when it'll happen
24:22necessarily, but I think if you're replacing somebody on the line, especially on the interior,
24:26I think it should be Michael Jordan, especially because Cole strangely, yes, he'll probably
24:30struggle against power, but I think he's got better awareness. He's a better run blocker
24:34and he's more athletic now on the right side. This is a tough conversation to have because
24:39I'm a big fan of the Monterey Jacobs. He's been put in an impossible position.
24:42The guy was undrafted with the Broncos. He was then on their practice squad last year,
24:46got cut this off season. And the picture it's Patriots picked him up on waivers.
24:50No way. They thought he was going to be their starter from week four on, right?
24:54He's going up against elite pass rushers almost every single week. Like the first full game yet
24:59was against Nick Bosa. And we all know how that went. Like the guy, the poor guy's been hanging
25:02on for dear life and you want to give him some grace at the same time. One, you had the penalties,
25:07right? He had his own false start. He had his own holding penalty, but shop took him to town,
25:12man. I'm talking like he was, he's whipping on a lot of his strikes. And that was a really upset
25:17me. Like sometimes he's hitting guys in the face shop Robinson was just literally waiting for him
25:21to shoot his hands. A lot of the time, this is the holding penalty. So just not nearly enough
25:26consistency. Also not sustaining in the run game, like way too many immediate losses against chop
25:31Robinson. Again, not an easy matchup, but he got benched for city show at the end of the game.
25:36So we already know that the team is at least thinking of replacing him in the lineup. So
25:41those are the really glaring ones. I think on the offensive side of the ball, I think it's the
25:44trenches. Now, you know, the wide receiver stuff, they're going to play the rookies. We know that
25:49looked like Jayvon Baker ran the wrong route on one of the few snaps that he ended up playing.
25:54Obviously that's disappointing. Jalen Polk didn't really pop on the screen for me either. So can't
25:59really say anything about him. Tight ends are doing what they're supposed to do. Running backs
26:01doing what they're supposed to do. Ramon Dre looked much better last week than he has in other
26:05weeks. Antonio Gibson. I think maybe he's finally healthy. He got to have your workload really was
26:09a third down back. Looked good when he was running the ball and obviously Drake may strike me,
26:14but this offensive line has got to figure it out. Stop with the damn penalties enough. I know it
26:19wasn't just them. Like Austin Hooper also lined up offsides. Hey, Sean booty had a pretty blatant
26:24offensive pass interference where he literally used two hands to push off. And then the defender
26:29fell down. Like he can't do that. It's not just the line, but that for me was the most glaring
26:34issue when it came to, all right, if you're going to make replacements, where are they going to come
26:37from? I mean, like as respectful as possible, like reel it in, like, like you said, knock it off,
26:45stop false starting, stop holding like that's fundamentals. And that's where this coaching
26:51versus personnel thing. I think it's, it's not a black and white answer. And I think it's actually
26:56a fascinating conversation because you know, Mayo's getting dragged right now for saying the
26:59thing last night where, you know, once you're inside the white lines, like I can't help you,
27:04but he's technically right. Like he's right. I just, it's one of those, one of those rumors,
27:08like what? And then even Juwan Bentley, because they misquoted him, it made it sound like he was
27:13basically just throwing guys out to the wolves. Marcus Jones said the same thing. And then I saw
27:16comments like, Oh, it's just because he's bill Belichick media train. That's literally just
27:20how it goes. Mayo has said that's going to be his philosophy since he got hired, where I want to give
27:24the players accountability because I can't help you when you cross the white lines. And he's right.
27:29As we'll get in with Kyle Duggar, where there were times where you could see the defense was
27:32prepared and one player would make a mistake. They created this ripple effect, you know? So
27:37yeah, I couldn't stand that. That went viral the way it did, because I thought it was just,
27:41it was just such grasping at straws. Totally. And like, now I do understand the idea of,
27:46and we talked about it last night on post game where, okay, but what's the consequence like,
27:51and how do you actually get these guys to not fall stark? And how do you, you know, hammer at home
27:56where, you know, you can't be doing that shit. And Reese talked about it this morning on radio,
28:01but we also talked about it here last night. It's like, do you run the Hill? Do you get benched?
28:05Do you have to do fricking pushups? Like, it sounds like elementary pop Warner shit, but it's
28:11like something has to happen for you to get it through your head, to not fall start, to not hold,
28:17to use your techniques, et cetera. And so that's, that's where we're at with the offensive line.
28:21We'll see if they get benched. We'll see how that works. And we'll see if they can
28:25improve on these penalties, but that same thing with, you know, blown assignments and coverage,
28:30et cetera. And this conversation around to Marcus Covington now on the defensive side of the ball,
28:35isn't the players, isn't the scheme brings us to Kyle Duggar who struggled on, on Sunday.
28:41And you even tweeted during the game that Duggar should be benched. And I, this was before the
28:46benching conversation came up with Gerard Mayo. And I thought that that was, I don't know.
28:53Well, yeah, yeah, actually. Yeah. I thought that that was stark to me. That was like,
28:57oh shit. If Taylor's saying that Kyle Duggar veteran captain, extended player should be
29:02benched. That means that this guy is really, you know, causing a lot of harm for the Patriots.
29:06And it could have been the injury and it could have been, you know, just blown assignments and
29:10stuff. And you, you put him on your list today as well of guys who is, you know, our, he's a
29:15cornerstone on this team and he is, but he played like crap yesterday and you have the reasons why.
29:20So take us through it. Talk to us about Kyle Duggar and what happened yesterday and where they
29:23go moving forward in the secondary. Yes. One of the three games that Kyle Duggar missed, like one
29:27game in the wind against who is it? The jets, the safety has got a game ball because they actually
29:31played really well. Jalen Hawkins, Dell Pettis, and oh my gosh, she was Mopu. Thank you. He's
29:36been out of the lineup. So it kind of messed with my head. They're good enough, right? They're not
29:40Duggar in his prime. They're not peppers or anything, but they're enough to get you by.
29:45And with what I saw from Kyle Duggar, I've never seen a player of his caliber on a defense like
29:50this, play this kind of game where it just felt like he had no idea what was going on consistently.
29:56And you're just looking around where it's like, he's not responding to motion. He's his eyes are
30:00in the backfield on play action. And he's letting guys run right past him for big plays, consistently
30:05making mental errors. Now, one play I'm going to bring up in here. I do acknowledge. I think that
30:10was the ankle. I don't think it was a mental error, but most of it was mental. And that was
30:14what was really discouraging for me because Doug has been in the league too long to be as
30:18undisciplined as he was. Obviously he missed time maybe against two offenses. Last week,
30:23it was more missed tackles, not really communication. It seemed like for him
30:25specifically, but this week, like Rob Mayo said, it's very disappointing when you play
30:29similar offense twice and you play the dolphins. Oh, I didn't play against the dolphins. Actually.
30:33I don't think, no, if he did, I don't know if he did. I don't know if he did either,
30:37but either way, like you and it as a whole played against something similar, right?
30:41Exactly. You played to a, you played McDaniel and drug Mayo said it was very disappointing. So
30:45let me dive into the film, quickly break down the plays where I thought he was at fault.
30:49Now I will say some of these are shared responsibility and it wasn't just him,
30:52but it was more, again, the lack of awareness from a veteran player and a captain and one of
30:56your highest paid guys. So Kyle Duggar man-to-man on Johnny Smith here, Johnny Smith first, he's
31:03going to chip help, right? Kyle Duggar sees that and then drops off as if Johnny was not
31:07going to release into his route by the time he does and realizes he's way too late.
31:12John who basically just has to fight his way into the end zone. That was a very glaring mistake.
31:18This one was what stood out to me where everyone always says that they're just not prepared.
31:23And it's where I sometimes push back where, yes, sometimes that's the case,
31:27but also you like what Mayo says, you cannot control what people do once they are on the field,
31:31the mistakes they make or the mistakes that they make. So here you can actually see that Marcus
31:35Jones probably knows what's coming here because when you see Tyree kill, go into the backfield
31:40with Devon Achan, Marcus Jones is communicating with Kyle Duggar. And the fact that Marcus Jones
31:46is over Achan and Kyle Duggar is over Tyree kill tells me that Marcus Jones knew there was going
31:52to be some kind of cross between them and that they were going to end up releasing to opposite
31:56flats because otherwise you would just line up right over Tyree, but then that might create a
32:00pick opportunity, right? And you don't want to do that. You want to give yourself depth so you can
32:03cover whoever's coming out of the backfield. And Marcus Jones is absolutely right because that's
32:07what's going to happen. Tyree kill is going to come out this way, but then they're going to run
32:10screen to Achan this way. Achan killed them, killed them in the red zone. Marcus Jones trying
32:15to communicate. Kyle Duggar goes with Tyree instead of Achan. And again, I will say that Aaron Brewer
32:22is his lead blocker. Even if Kyle Duggar recognizes this and he can take on blockers, I'm not acting
32:27like he can't, but it is a tough assignment. There's no guarantee that he ends up being able
32:32to defend Achan or get around that block. And also you have Marte Mapu to the bottom right here
32:38as one of the extra defenders. He was trying to take away Tyree. I think this was just a really
32:41great play call, honestly, from the Dolphins compounded by the fact that Duggar didn't do
32:46what he was supposed to do. Literal walk-in touchdown for the Dolphins, completely unacceptable,
32:51not even a competitive rep. Oh my gosh, what the heck happened there? All right. Anyway,
32:55damn freaking eye movie. All right. Now we're going to focus here on Kyle Duggar and Jalen
32:59Hawkins, Devon Achan once again. This time he's actually out of the backfield. The Dolphins love
33:04using him all over the formation. Now, when he comes in motion, Jalen Hawkins is communicating
33:09to Duggar, hey, move over, move, because something's coming this way. Move, move, move.
33:13Duggar doesn't even respond. I don't know if he doesn't hear him or what happens here. You would
33:17at least hope that when he sees this motion, he would bump over, right? He doesn't. It takes him
33:22too long to respond. Now, this is one of those where it's not just on the player, right? Because
33:27Sione Takitaki is engaged, but he has an opportunity to make this play. You see Devon
33:32Gacha ends up on the ground. Jeremiah Farms can't really get this diagnosed quickly enough to make
33:38a play on the ball. And once Achan gets it, like this whole cutback lane is here, Jalen Hawkins
33:44ends up getting just buried by two guys. This is another time where I'm not positive that Kyle
33:49Duggar doing the right thing would have stopped the touchdown. But again, glaring issue that
33:53Jalen Hawkins is trying to communicate to him. He doesn't get it. He's not competitive on the
33:57rep. And then you got DBs trying to fight through offensive linemen. Now, this is the one where I
34:01was really like, okay, this is Duggar being hurt, right? Ankle injury affects your change of
34:06direction. Although this reminded me a lot of that touchdown that Jalen Waddle scored against
34:09them like two years ago in Miami. Oh, yeah. He completely whipped and then he just ran in for
34:15a touchdown. I feel like that's most of Jalen Waddle's production against them. When he pops
34:19off, it's like somebody messed something up. But you're going to see he's trying to disguise,
34:23drop into a cover two. You're going to get the ball. Can't really redirect. You can see it. You
34:28can see when he plants. It's just not what you really want. It's tough. So there I give him
34:34some grace. That's tough. Waddle's a good player. Those guys get paid too. And these were just the
34:40touchdowns. The fact that it looked like Kyle Duggar was at least partially responsible or
34:44didn't do the right thing on each one of those red zone scores where the miscommunications ran
34:48rampant. And then also when you're outside of the red zone, you were still seeing the same thing
34:52and giving up big plays. Extremely discouraging. I don't know if you got to sit Kyle Duggar down,
34:57let him heal up, maybe let him get his mind right, whatever it is. But I don't know how you justify
35:01putting him back on the field when the younger guys have been working their tails off and played
35:05about as well as you could really expect. And Duggar's out here missing tackles one week and
35:10the next completely blowing coverage assignments on a consistent basis throughout the game.
35:14Yeah. It's a there, you know, and it's a predicament and it's different than like,
35:20this is much better, much different than benching of a dairy and lower to Montre Jacobs, right?
35:24This is a team captain, a guy who you have dubbed as a leader, obviously not just voted upon by his
35:30teammates, but also coaches brought him in as sort of that secondary guy. And so you know, once,
35:36once was that once Bentley went down or was that one? Yeah. Cause peppers was replaced.
35:43I forget what it was, but regardless, Doug is a captain. He's a guy you signed to an extension
35:47this off season front office thinks, thinks of him as a, you know, as one of these leaders and
35:53core guys moving forward. And you know, when you, when you blow it like that, you know,
35:57real conversations after we had now, you wonder if they bench a guy like that,
36:01peppers coming back, could add a little wrinkle to that, adding a little bit more depth to that
36:05room, obviously different positions and different sorts of ways they use each other, but still the.
36:10Uh, and one other thing, I feel like the whole, everybody getting mad that, uh, Elliot Wolf for
36:15re-signing Duggar feels like a lot of revisionist history, because I know they keep saying it for
36:20everybody that they resigned. It's like, ah, let me, please show me your receipts for when this
36:24actually happened, because I don't remember if they let them walk, everyone would have been
36:27yelling at Elliot Wolf too. So because I think the re-signings, we didn't really have any issue
36:32with them. Like the only one that you maybe could talk about is Kendrick Bourne, but they could cut
36:35him next year and they're fine. Kyle Duggar was widely regarded, not even in new England,
36:41widely regarded. Like, I don't mean it. Kimes loves him. People respect Kyle Duggar. That was
36:45the worst game I've ever seen him play. It's an anomaly, right? We got to see what happens,
36:50but I just want to, you know, we have to be honest with ourselves and remember that we can have our
36:55opinion of it now, but that is not how people felt. We thought he had a down season and would
36:59return to the form that we'd seen in his previous few seasons. That hasn't happened. Obviously you
37:03hope he can regain form, but let's not do the whole, you know, oh, they never should have
37:08re-signed him because no one, no one, there were people saying that maybe you shouldn't pay him a
37:12lot of money. And I can get that. I understand that, but let's not act like re-signing him,
37:16period, was this terrible, terrible move. No, I'm with you. And we'll see how they
37:20handle it. Obviously not the best game from Duggar. So we will, we will see. I don't know
37:24how easy it's going to be, like I said before, to bench a starter captain of his, you know,
37:31of his status on this team, but if it has to be done, it has to be done. So we'll see how
37:35Mayo and the guys handle that. All right, we're going to get into Drake May. That's what everybody
37:39wants to know. That's what everybody wants to see. So we'll break down some good stuff,
37:42some bad stuff from May, from Sunday, but before we do, let's hear from our friends at Game Time.
37:47We love Game Time. It's the exclusive ticketing partner of the CLNS Media Network. It's the best
37:52way to go watch your teams play. It's obviously football season. It's Thanksgiving football
37:58season. Patriots coming up this weekend against the Indianapolis Colts. And right now, if you head
38:02over to Game Time, you can get into Foxborough for as little as $91 on the Game Time app. Not
38:09too shabby to watch Drake May and this team play. They also have the new feature called Game Time
38:14Picks. It makes getting those tickets to see your favorite teams play live even easier, filtering
38:18out all the fluff to show you only incredible deals on great seats so you don't have to waste
38:23time searching through thousands of tickets. I've been using it for Celtics games as well.
38:27They have the all-in pricing feature, which I love because instead of checking out, getting all
38:33the fees, getting all the tax, getting all the nonsense on the other end, all you got to do is
38:36turn on the all-in pricing feature and it shows you exactly what you are going to pay. So that's
38:42Game Time Picks. That's all-in pricing. They also have seat views. You can see a panoramic view of
38:46your seat in the app to show exactly where you're going to sit in the stadium. And they also have
38:51their lowest price guaranteed. So take the guesswork out of buying tickets with Game Time.

39:08Time today. What time is it, Taylor? Game Time. It is Game Time, and it's also time to break down
39:13Drake May. The Patriots quarterback was 22 of 37 on Sunday. Throws for 222 yards. A fabulous
39:20touchdown, a crummy interception, and a tough strip-sack fumble. Two turnovers. Guy can't stop
39:27turning it over. We're going to bring in the good stuff. We're going to bring in the bad stuff from
39:30May as well. His lowest completion percentage of the season in a full game played. I thought that
39:35was an interesting... Yeah, it did look like it. It wasn't his best game, but still flashed some
39:40brilliance. So Taylor, break it all down for us. What did you see from number 10 on Sunday?
39:44Yeah, so generally, I mean, he was in a tough spot because as we know, the pressure was rampant.
39:47There were several times where it didn't seem like he was on the same page as guys. To Mario
39:51Douglas, it feels like they're still trying to find their sync, especially when it comes to
39:55attacking zone coverage. We know Papa's excellent against man, zone, still a young player, still
40:00trying to figure out how to be his best in the NFL. What I'm going to really focus on here is
40:05a scrambling from Drake May because when he did have positive plays, a lot of the time, it was
40:09because of him using his legs. We've talked about there were other weeks where he stayed in the
40:13pocket and picked guys apart on short and intermediate throws. This was not one of those
40:16games. He really didn't have a ton of opportunities to do that. So he had to have put together some
40:21Herculean efforts, also completed his first deep pass in three weeks, three or four weeks. And it
40:26was one of the coolest plays that he's had since he's come to the Patriots. So let's start off
40:31with this one. This was early on in the game. We are going to get a play action concept from
40:36the Patriots to mark. This kind of reminded me of a Dolphins type of concept where they used a lot
40:40of deep stop routes to Patriots. A lot of those really I felt to try to take advantage of the
40:46zone coverage. You see a lot from the Dolphins. So you're going to get the deep curl from Keishon
40:49Booty, and then you're going to get to Mario Douglas in motion across the formation. He is
40:53going to go upfield, kind of like what you see with Tyree Kill and those guys. And he's going
40:57to run an out route really well, by the way. And then you're going to have Hunter Henry blocking
41:01them, releasing to the flat Antonio Gibson on the play fake. He's going to stay in to block
41:07the Dolphins running a bit of a tricky coverage here. So after the motion, they're going to have
41:11this safety who's down right now, actually take the deep third. Then you get deep thirds on the
41:16outside. This defender pretty much playing the flat with Jalen Ramsey in the slot, just matching
41:22to Mario Douglas's coverage. So it kind of looks like quarters a little bit, but really, I think
41:25it's just a cover three match. And then you're going to have a blitzer right here. I think it's
41:30a green dog blitz, though, and a green dog is when the running back stays in the past pass block.
41:34You either have the option to drop into coverage or you can say, hey, I'm going to insert into
41:38the pass rush because we want to overload them. That's what you're going to see from the linebacker.
41:43Now, Mario Douglas going in motion. La de da de da. First up field. Now, Drake May play fake gets
41:50top of his drop. Immediately you have a loss on the right side. This is what I was talking about,
41:54where Michael Jordan struggled on these pulls, immediately get swimmed. Drake May sees there's
41:59a soft edge, gets outside the pocket for a nice gain early on in the game. Also love him outrunning
42:06Anthony Walker to get to the edge here. That's speed for many protects himself, puts his shoulder
42:11down, falls ahead for positive yardage. Really nice decision there from him after getting quick
42:16pressure. Now we've got a critical 39 situation, obviously late in the game. It was quite out of
42:22hand, but still you're not totally out. Yep. You still have a chance to maybe get back into
42:26still three possessions. Exactly. So again, you're going to see a lot of curls here. You're going to
42:30get one from the outside. Keishon booty, or I'm sorry, this is a J one. Oh, I'm sorry. It's Kendrick
42:35point. That's KB at the bottom. Yep. My glasses are so fuzzy. It's my auto from a damn eyelashes.
42:41Anyway, you get to sit around from DeMario Douglas. You're going to see this a couple of times.
42:44You're going to get a deep dig from Keishon booty. And once again, this curl, then a couple of blocks
42:49before releasing into the flat, the dolphins more zone coverage. You're going to get quarters to the
42:54boundary side, then cover two to the field side where you have the two wide receivers. And then
43:00this mug defender is going to drop into coverage. Now we're going to focus here on Kendrick Bourne.
43:05Now we talked about it. Kendrick Bourne is, you know, been trying to work his way back.
43:09Had a nice performance last week. I thought this week he and Drake may were more on the same page
43:14on scrambles. We saw that a couple of times and we'll see it right here. So Drake takes a snap
43:19immediate pressure on the inside. Mike, and when who takes an L Calais, Campbell kind of gives
43:23him a little bit of pressure over there on the twist, Drake may stiff arms, Calais Campbell,
43:29and then manages to exploit Kendrick Bourne finding space. And I really love one,
43:33not just Drake may with a stiff arm and getting this out before he gets absolutely clobbered
43:39but nice shot by Kendrick Bourne understanding. Oh, these two defenders are paying attention to
43:44me. They're trying to defend Drake and potentially Hunter Henry that gives him a little bit of room
43:48and also responds to try to find the best space to get open. Really nice awareness there from
43:53Kendrick Bourne. And we're going to see it again later on in the game. This time, the fourth
43:57quarter, six minutes left to go. It's still not really a competitive game, but you're still
44:01fighting because you're Drake mother fricking may. All right. Now the route was close. So another
44:09all crows concept. I think this is Hank. I don't want to get in trouble and say the wrong thing,
44:12but basically you get the deep curls on the outside and then you're going to get a sit over
44:15the middle with two delayed releases to the flat coverage wise, shocker, more split safety zone
44:21from the dolphins. They love this stuff. This is going to be just a pretty typical Tampa two
44:26defense from them. Once again, Kendrick Bourne going to make a play for his quarterback on a
44:30scramble drill. Drake may drops back to Monterey Jacobs. I'm sorry. Oh no, that's sitting that
44:39city. He also, so I thought he was better than he's been in games past city, but they were also
44:44the exact same things that I've been talking about where everyone's like, why isn't city playing?
44:48I'm like, ah, he took some pretty quick losses in the preseason. And I know that he's the fourth
44:53round pick and everything. He's still getting the strike system under his belt. The Monterey
44:57Jacobs struggle, but he did as well. Obviously you saw it there, but you get pressure from
45:01multiple angles. Drake may stepping up a little bit and firing this one. Great job by Kendrick
45:06Bourne. Also coming back to the ball while he was under duress, better look at it from the end zone
45:11angle here. Now I'm going to get the ball. You're going to get the quick pressure. See what I mean?
45:16Try like with the one hand, you always talk about the independent hand use.
45:20Chop Robinson was very well aware that was coming. He gets right under it. You also get Michael
45:24Jordan. Like I mentioned earlier, put on skates here. He gets walked back. Drake. First of all,
45:29he's actually looking to the right side. He's trying to hit. I'll actually go back and make
45:33it a little easier to see. I'm sorry about that. So he actually wants, I think this route from
45:38Keyshawn booty, but obviously as you can see right there, he's getting pressured. So what does he do?
45:42I love how quickly he made this decision too. Cause you see knowing where Kendrick's going to
45:46be. Yep. You're to the right. And as soon as he feels that pressure, he knows he should have
45:50Kendrick Bourne as he's fading away and getting hit makes this throw. Kendrick Bourne does a
45:55great job coming back downhill. Cause if he doesn't, this might be an interception for Jalen
45:59Ramsey. Drake may put his trust in his receiver. The receiver paid it off. Really nice conversion
46:04there. It breaks the tackle as well. Kendrick Bourne starting to build some momentum. Really
46:08like what I've been seeing from him lately. Now creme de la creme baby fourth and 15 deep
46:14bomb touchdown from Drake made his play was fricking nuts. All right. So this is going to
46:18be a vertical concept. Basically going to get two in breakers from the tight ends. You're going to
46:22get an out and up from Jalen Polk. I think it's an out and up. Honestly, he doesn't run it super
46:26convincingly. It's kind of hard to tell. And then just a shallow crosser from Keyshawn booty
46:30dolphins. Once again, in a cover six where you've got quarters or cover four over to the side with
46:36three receivers and then cover two to the single receiver side. We're going to let this run.
46:41Austin Hooper. He's going to be the guy making this play. Drake may obviously doing a great job
46:47to create an opportunity to even give this play a chance. More quick pressure off that right edge.
46:53Drop back up, gets outside of it. Scramble, scramble, scramble, looking downfield,
46:57trying to find somebody. Austin Hooper. Great awareness from him right here.
47:01Seeing that quarterback is scrambling, splitting these two defenders, both of whom completely lose
47:06him. And then just settling and being like, Hey, Drake, I'm right here. Just give me the ball.
47:09Just give me the ball. Drake may gets outside the pocket. Let's this one go right before he
47:14is about to take a hit. Doesn't thank goodness. Austin Hooper makes the catch, gets into the end
47:18zone. That was one of the coolest places we've seen from Drake may the arm talent mobility to
47:23actually get around the pass rush and be able to give this play a chance. Fourth and 15. This is
47:28why when Drake is on the field, you always think you have a chance to win the game. He literally
47:31is a threat to score on any single play now. Also, I don't, I don't know if he was just tired
47:38or what, but it looks like it takes a while to get up here.
47:41Andre Stevenson, you know, I love this. I love the little hug they did there,
47:47but yeah, I hope he's all right. We'll need to, you know, make sure we monitor.
47:50Yeah. There's before we get into this, I just, the, the thing that, you know, of the many things
47:55that have been so impressive about drug about Drake may is the off the off platform ability
48:00to put the ball exactly where it wants it. Like the throw to Kendrick, uh, the throw to Hooper
48:05there. We've seen it a bunch of times thrown across his body. Like that's obvious, obviously,
48:08but like, that's not easy. Like a lot of times quarterbacks will try and do that and it,
48:13they sky it, they dig it into the ground. It's not easy to do it when you don't have a base.
48:16So you're his ability, much like the, I hate to do the comparison already, but the Mahomes and the
48:22Allens and the Harvard's of the world, like those guys who can just throw it no matter what and put
48:27it right on their guy. That's what Drake may can do. And that's what I think is one of the many
48:30things that make him such a special player. Like how many times we've seen that dude throw
48:34like pretty far without his feet on the ground. Right. The amount of torque he's able to create
48:40on his own. And obviously just the arm period is crazy, but yeah, this is the thing that he's got
48:46to cut. Now there's a ton of things about Drake maze game that I'm okay with still being raw.
48:50He's showing great improvement. The interception we talked about on the post game show. I'm not
48:55really putting that on him. That was a remarkable effort from the defense. Those guys get paid to
48:59the running back was open when he threw it, the guy peeled off. You're not really expecting that
49:02to ever happen, but these strip sacks, this was a four time this season. Drake may has been strip
49:07sack and maybe most egregious example we've talked about in the past. A lot of the time it's
49:11pressure coming off the blind side. He doesn't really see it coming. He's holding onto the ball
49:15and gets clobbered and he gets knocked out of his hands. This he admitted was not a good play. He
49:20tried to swim the defender, but we'll break down exactly how it happens. But this was like a glaring
49:25rookie mistake that this is not sustainable. You got to cut this Mayo said, I know he'll grow as a
49:30player, you know, but he knows that he's got to affect football better. So where are we? There we
49:35go. All right. So I think what this protection protection is going to be from the offensive
49:39line is a half slide towards the right. And basically Michael Jordan in the Gary and lower,
49:44essentially man blockers one-on-one. And with that, you also, I believe have remind Ray Stevenson
49:50blocking the second level defender, because typically in these situations you want to do
49:54what's called big on big. So everybody on the line of scrimmage, you want blocked by an offensive
49:58lineman guys at the second level. You'd rather have blocked by a running back, especially somebody
50:03like reminder Stevenson, who's very proficient there. Now the dolphins dial up a little bit of
50:07trickery. The Patriots do this all the time. They're going to drop both of their edge defenders.
50:11So the tackles end up not actually blocking anybody directly. Then you're going to get a
50:16little bit of a twist here from these guys who are standing up and the clay is Campbell and Zach
50:21sealer are basically just going to try to penetrate the B gap right here. It's not going to work to
50:26the right, but it's going to work pretty well on the left. Now, Zach sealer is the defensive tackle.
50:31We're going to be paying attention to. This is another one of those examples. Like I mentioned
50:34earlier of Michael Jordan, seemingly not giving the Darien low, the help he should and going to
50:39the wrong assignment. Cause remember, like I mentioned, remind Ray Stevenson should be blocking
50:43him. If everybody was rushing, Michael Jordan should be blocking sealer, but Darien low should
50:48be blocking a manual oddball. And then we're monitoring Stevenson blocks the second level
50:51defender. Instead, Darien low barely gives any help, right? He sees that inside color and
50:57immediately peels off. This puts the Darien low in a really tough position because he's positioned
51:02to try to block oddball. You can see it. He's trying to be aware of, okay, if there's any
51:07penetration, I'll give some help, but I don't think he realizes he has to block Zach sealer,
51:12who already has the leverage advantage by alignment. And you can even also see remind
51:17he's looking at 20 goes to block 20 and is like, wait a minute. Okay. You got it. All right,
51:22bet. All right. I'm just going to kind of help out. I guess Darien low loses the inside track
51:28and then Drake, like you can't do this. You cannot do this. Obviously we saw him stiff
51:33arm defenders like several times in this game. He can do it, but when you are falling backwards
51:37and the ball is hanging out like that, that's a massive risk. The kind of thing that you really
51:42don't see him do very often where it's just like a glaring, glaring, like, Oh my God,
51:46I don't know why you're deciding to do this. Like don't go backwards. He usually does a very good
51:50job of not going backwards in the pocket, but here tries to make a miss sealer shows great awareness
51:55to capitalize on this knocks the ball out. Miami recovers. Yep. Now again,
52:01past protection did not do Drake any favors there. All right. I don't even know that he,
52:05he had anywhere to go with the ball. Cause this is instant pressure. You need to eat this sack.
52:10I did the situation. I understand, you know, it's not totally in the game yet,
52:14but you can't afford this penalty. Completely avoidable. Put it in your stomach,
52:18put two hands on the ball, get down. That was the one glaring issue I had with him in this game
52:23in terms of just knowing exactly what he did wrong. Cause the chemistry seemed like it was
52:28off. Like I mentioned, and I, I kind of want to stay away until I can ask people what was going
52:31on there. But again, that one is just an egregious error. He's got to get that out of his game.
52:35No more strip sacks the rest of the season. Yep. No, you got to clean it up. It's a,
52:39it's an, one of those error repeater things, right? Where Mayo said you can't repeat errors
52:42and he he's repeated them, repeated that one several times. And it's a play where
52:47just cut your losses and don't make a bad play. Worse. You're already
52:51for Darian Lowe already lost the rep. You already have a guy basically in your lap,
52:55just eat it, live to see another down, put two hands on the football and fall.
52:59Again, you mentioned the stiff arms earlier. He's a guy who can make plays out of structure,
53:04out of the pocket, but sometimes it's just like, okay, what's the, you know, risk reward
53:08assess it in the moment, tuck the ball and fall. He doesn't do it. Hopefully he continues to learn
53:13from it. But that's, that's kind of that that's the Drake may film. That's the Patriots versus
53:18Dolphins. I'm going to ask your monitor about that past protection. If I'm wrong about it,
53:22I'll correct. Cause I don't know everything. I'm literally just guessing the best I can.
53:25So I know I see a lot of comments about it. I'll double check. I always do. Don't worry,
53:30but that was just, you know, my impression of it. And it just is a pattern that we see
53:34typically Michael Jordan with those line games. Yep. No, for sure. We we do have a super chat.
53:38Thank you. We appreciate it. And this kind of can close it out for us. Don't freak out about
53:43this game. Miami is a house of horrors for the Patriots. Bill and Tom had a losing record there
53:47as well. That's 17 and 43 all time in Miami. Did you know that it was that bad? No, I'm not
53:55surprised at all. Remember the coaching decisions. Remember that time that Gronk was the safety
54:00on a play where there was no chance the ball was going to get into the end zone. Remember that?
54:05Yep. That's it. Hey, nobody's perfect. Nope. Nope. We'll leave it at that Patriots now. Oh,
54:10and seven versus two attack of Iowa in the Hawaiian quarterbacks, young career and Patriots
54:16move on three and nine after losing to the Dolphins 34 to 15 on Sunday night. That's going
54:24to do it for our Dolphins recap here on Patriots daily. We hit on two broke peppers. We hit on the
54:28locker room. We hit on potential lineup changes. And of course we hit on Patriots quarterback Drake
54:33May. If you checked in, uh, early or later on in the show, you can obviously head back and
54:38watch the rest of it. Another super chat. No comment. Just, just, just some cash. We appreciate
54:43it, Rob. We'll still throw you on there. Um, but yeah, thank you for that. Uh, thank you for tuning
54:48in. We will be back later in the week, uh, Thanksgiving week. So we'll keep you guys posted
54:52as to when and where we're going to be doing our pods. Patriots are, uh, in Foxborough tomorrow
54:57off Thursday or in Foxborough tomorrow, Wednesday off Thursday, back Friday before taking on the
55:02Colts on Sunday. Well, me and Taylor will be as well for pregame post game, all of your coverage
55:07from Foxborough. So keep it here on the channel rate, review, subscribe, like the video, do all
55:12that good stuff. All of us on Twitter at T Kyle's 39. And, uh, Oh, we got another one. Thanks.
55:20You couldn't even put mine on. Now you've got to give another one 99 and say, shout out to Mike
55:24and Taylor for being, I think the first one was supposed to say, Mike, shout out Mike for being
55:28awesome. You just got deleted by accident. It's okay. Robin fish. It's okay. Mistakes. Yeah,
55:33no, we're joking. It's it's all good. But, uh, thanks. I, man, do we just stay here as,
55:37as people continue to throw in the super chats? I mean, come on. I was going to close it out for
55:42the next show. Yeah. Good call. Good call. Cause we get to get out of here. So thanks for watching.
55:46We'll be back soon. Uh, keep it locked in. Hey, there it is. It's like a telethon. It's like a
55:52black Friday week, like radio telethon or something. I don't know. Maybe we
55:56give it another piece that now, you know, let's save it, bring it to the next one. We'll be back
56:00soon. Take care of yourselves, take care of each other and we will see you next time.
