00:00It is said, become deeply aware.
00:21Now we already live in problems and challenges, we already live in incompletenesses, we already
00:29live in the quest to achieve something, become something.
00:33When it is said become deeply aware, we add one more item to our list of problems and
00:42that item now is awareness.
00:44Oh, there is so much to do and achieve.
00:49And the next item is awareness.
00:57The words of a wise man must be read with wisdom, with empathy.
01:17One must be alert whether one is able to cross over his personal ways of interpreting, world's
01:36white mislead.
01:37There is nothing called becoming aware.
01:41Read it as unbecoming unaware.
01:54We have become unaware.
01:59Awareness is over awareness, there is a shroud of illusory unawareness, over the innate awareness
02:14there is a cloud of assumed unawareness.
02:26The aware core is shrouded by assumed unawareness, which has no substance, there is no fact in
02:36that unawareness.
02:37You just have to see that there is no fact in your assertion that there exists unawareness.
02:51So you unbecome unaware.
02:57You cannot become aware.
02:58Awareness is not something that you can achieve or become or reach, it is, getting it?
03:06Now you see how driven and tense you feel when the problem of awareness confronts you?
03:22The problem of awareness.
03:30Awareness means that in any given situation, even in the worst of situations, even in the
03:39most challenging of situations, you still have the capacity, the capability, the right
03:50to understand.
03:51That is what is meant by saying that awareness always is.
03:58Even when the world is overwhelming you, still it is not mandatory that you will succumb.
04:10This not mandatoriness implies an unconditional awareness that need not be reached.
04:21An awareness that is inviolable.
04:27No penetration can ever dent it.
04:41And is it not something that you already know?
04:46Even in the moment of your death, you can be still, composed, calm.
04:56That is what is meant by the inviolable certainty of awareness.
05:06That stillness is awareness.
05:10You might be receiving a thousand wounds physically or mentally, and yet there is something in
05:16you that remains unwounded.
05:17You know that.
05:20That is what is meant by the innateness of awareness.
05:30It is untouchable.
05:36The world may have given you a lot of knowledge.
05:39The world may have filled up your consciousness.
05:45Yet there is something within you that presides over that consciousness, that presides over
05:51all your knowledge.
05:55That is what is meant by the intrinsic nature of awareness.
06:00World gives you knowledge, but how do you understand?
06:09The mathematics book is telling you everything about mathematics.
06:13Is it also telling you about how to understand mathematics?
06:20Mathematics is knowledge, understanding is awareness.
06:24And don't you know mathematics?
06:25If you know mathematics, you also know that awareness is an indispensable sureness.
06:32It's a total certainty that never deserts you.
06:36Are you getting it?
06:41That is what is meant by awareness.
06:44Now this awareness is not a matter of becoming.
06:47Will the mathematics book also teach you the very fundamentals?
07:00And when I say the very fundamentals, that means going to the very depths of consciousness.
07:09The mathematics book assumes that you can understand.
07:18For the author of the book, probably it is a very obvious assumption.
07:25But the peace of entire mankind depends on this that is so obvious and yet so very missed.
07:39Right now, your consciousness might be registering the words that are coming from me, but there
07:44is something else that is relating so fully with these words, with the speaker, with the
07:53air, the night, the whole, the whole presence that is awareness.
08:00That awareness has no shape, form or object when it knows, it knows without concluding
08:13and yet with full certainty.
08:17If you ask what are you aware of, awareness will not be able to tell.
08:22At most, if you are too insistent and awareness must console you, it would say, I am not unaware.
08:32It will just say, I am not unaware, it will still not say, I am aware of this and that.
08:44Awareness is so total.
08:47Knowledge is always small, little.
08:53That is why those who live in knowledge never find peace.
08:55They keep hunting for more and more knowledge.
09:02They say, I need to know more before I can make up my mind and the mind actually never
09:07gets made up.
09:08Or you can say it only gets made up.
09:18Awareness is not dependent on knowledge, it just knows, just knows.
09:24How do you know that the sound of the waterfall is so sweet?
09:31How do you know that peace is wonderful?
09:33Tell me which book taught it to you and had books not taught it to you, you have not
09:38known that peace is wonderful?
09:41How do you know that you must like the truth?
09:43That is awareness.
09:45How do you fall in love?
09:46That is awareness.
09:52And that is not a matter of acquiring knowledge, reaching somewhere, becoming somebody, advancing
10:03in life or anything.
10:08The illiterate tribal in his own way knows love.
10:16That is awareness.
10:20And his surrender to his awareness might be deeper than that of the literate urban knowledgeable
10:28man.
10:33Awareness does not depend on civilization or the product of man's mind.
10:39Are you getting it?
10:46If you are literate, you may know 20 poems on love.
10:52You may know definitions of love.
10:57It's quite possible that the tribal will know love.
11:02That is awareness.
11:03Awareness that is innate, not borrowed from somewhere, not a matter of becoming.
11:09If you want to give names, you can give it any name.
11:24You can call it absolute freedom.
11:26You can call it Atma.
11:28You can call it soul, center, core, anything.
11:33That is what Ashtavakra will say about what you are, bodho aham.
11:41I am both.
11:42I am awareness.
11:45I am awareness.
11:46Just as he says, I am brahman, similarly, he says, I am awareness.
11:52That is what the Upanishadic adage says, prajnanam brahman.
12:00Brahman is knowledge, prajnan is awareness.
12:02Awareness itself is brahman.
12:05So, there are enough names.
12:10But why be particular about names?
12:14Does it have that knowledge in between because knowledge is also a part of it.
12:25No, no.
12:26In the inherent capacity.
12:27Yes.
12:28There is no road to awareness and there is nothing in between.
12:34All roads are in awareness.
12:35Then after a while, you are making, firstly it is informational, then you make a pothole
13:01of some concept and after a while, things settle down and you feel that you have understood
13:12it.
13:13Not just conceptually, but you are also feeling like in that way.
13:14You can never know awareness.
13:18This phrase, I have understood, is a very arrogant phrase.
13:21When you say you have understood, all that it means is that you now have a conclusion.
13:27Now you have been able to fit the topic in your own framework.
13:33I have understood is meaningless and impossible.
13:40Awareness proceeds very subliminally.
13:44Thought will not know awareness.
13:51You cannot keep an eye on awareness.
13:54You cannot watch awareness.
13:57You can only surrender to it.
14:01You can let it do what it does without making any stupid attempts to rein it in.
14:09Sir, may I say, everything happens in awareness and mind is working according to awareness
14:21or mind is also in awareness?
14:25Mind is functioning within awareness.
14:27For whom?
14:28For whom, what?
14:29Mind is working for whom?
14:34Mind is working for itself.
14:35And it is happening in awareness?
14:40In awareness.
14:41But the mind has all the rights to say that awareness is not there.
14:50The mind is contained, immersed in awareness, but it still has the right to declare that
14:55awareness is not there.
14:59So in spite of being in it, you can still keep clamoring, I am missing it.
15:11And hence, I want to reach there, become, acquire and all that.
15:20Because of that blanket of unawareness, yes.
15:21Sir, is it right to say that level of awareness, is it right or wrong?
15:22Wrong.
15:23Very wrong.
15:24Levels of consciousness are there.
15:25Levels of awareness are not there.
15:26Sir, the other day you were talking about the illusionary blanket.
15:27That is consciousness.
15:28That illusory bracket is consciousness.
15:29How dense and thick can the blanket get?
