A look at how Blues will go about their business.

00:00Charlie, looking at Birmingham City and obviously a massive bit of investment in the summer
00:05has got them doing so well in League One. They want to make sure that this is a campaign
00:10that they go straight back up to the Championship from and they can start fresh. You know, we've
00:14mentioned before the quality throughout this side and the quality that some of the new
00:19faces have also brought into Birmingham City so far this season. Just looking ahead to
00:25January, I mean, is it an important window for Blues? I mean, there's so much investment
00:32gone into that summer window that you might look at this January and think, could they
00:37sort of use it as a bit of a future window and look to try and get some more Championship
00:41quality in for if they are to be promoted? How do you sort of see them going about their
00:46business in January and how important is the window in general for Birmingham City?
00:51I think we'll see the spending continue, just not the rate it was in the summer, because
00:55that would just be insane, really, wouldn't it? It'd be unsustainable. And we've never
00:59seen this level of spending in League One before, even the Championship, it's unheard
01:03of. So they can't carry on at that rate, especially some of the likes of Jay Stansfield for over
01:08£12 million. You can't keep spending that kind of money. But they are going to address
01:12a few areas, I'm sure of it. There'll be a few players exiting the door as well. Maybe
01:17someone like Deion Sanderson, who was the former captain and then had his drink driving
01:21allegations, lost his captaincy, has since fallen down the pecking order defensively
01:25as well. Could he be on the way out? They might be able to scoop a million or two for
01:29him, if they're lucky, probably a bit less than that. Could they then replace him with
01:33a different centre-back? There've been talks of Phil Newman from Hanover. He's been impressing
01:38in the Bundesliga too. Not missed a single minute this season for the German club and
01:42he's six foot four inches tall, but also incredibly quick.
01:47Micky van der Ven comparisons come to mind. I know he's not anywhere near that kind of
01:51level, but in terms of his physique and his pace, he could have similar qualities. That
01:57centre-back area, it's been a bit touch and go. Christian Bielek and Christophe Clara
02:01formed a nice partnership, but both have had the odd injury worry here and there. Ben Davies
02:06has stepped in well, the player on loan from Rangers, but once again, if he gets injured,
02:11they need someone else to fill in. They definitely need it, Blues. It's more of a want than an
02:18ease, but when they've got so much cash available to them, why not address it, is my opinion
02:23on that one.
02:24Yeah, and just looking at Blues' goals, there hasn't been an out-and-out scorer this season
02:31for them. Do you think maybe that's an area they could also improve on?
02:35I think it's just about finding the right combinations. They've got so many options
02:38up front and a sack of midfield out on the wing as well. Typically, the left winger plays
02:44a bit wider and stays a bit wider for Chris Davies. The right winger tucks in a little
02:48bit more. They've got some great combinations and some high-quality players. It's just about
02:53finding the right kind of combinations. Lyndon Dykes and Jay Stansfield, they've got to share
03:00their minutes as well as Alfie May. You've got Keshi Anderson, Willem Willemsen all trying
03:04to get in the team as well. They don't need any new additions. It's just about getting
03:07the best out of their current crop.
