00:08from one MDB, the KL High Court heard on Tuesday.
00:12Datuk Seri Najib Razak, on the stand, shared details of his private family vacation in
00:17southern France in 2009, where he and his family were invited for high tea aboard the
00:23RM Elegance by Saudi's Prince Turki.
00:26The former prime minister said he was already on holiday in the south of France with his
00:30family when the invitation came through his special officer via Joe Lowe, known for his
00:35connections with Middle Eastern royalty.
00:38Najib said his wife, Datun Seri Rosma Mansoor, children Noor Ashman Razak, Nooriana Najwa,
00:44and stepson Riza Aziz, were with him on the vacation.
00:48He added that they were joined by a friend, Tan Sri Bustari Yusuf, and his children.
00:54As they boarded the yacht, Najib said the group was greeted by Prince Turki and Petro-Saudi
00:59executive Tarek Obaid, both of whom he met for the first time.
01:03He claimed the meeting during the afternoon tea was entirely informal and the idea that
01:08they could have been discussing some sort of sinister plan was not only ridiculous but
01:13entirely unfounded.
01:15Had there been a hidden agenda or nefarious intent, Najib said he would not have allowed
01:21photographs to be taken showing them together.
01:24He also said it was both misleading and unfair for individuals who were not part of the meeting
01:29to speculate and draw adverse inferences as an attempt to serve the prosecution's narrative
01:35against him.
01:36Najib was testifying in his own defense in the 2.28 billion ringgit 1MDB graft trial
01:42before Judge Datuk Colin Lawrence Sequeira, which resumes tomorrow.
