00:00Hi, I'm digital reporter, Amy Seddon, and welcome to another edition of Five Things
00:12to Do Next Week across central Lancashire and the Fylde Coast.
00:17First up, in Preston, head down to Preston Markets on Saturday, December 21st for the
00:23chance to meet the iconic festive characters, the Grinch and Olaf, as well as the special
00:29meet and greets, which are free by the way. Attendees can expect a traditional afternoon
00:33of festivities and carol singing. You can of course also buy some festive food whilst
00:38you avoid the Grinch's devious ploy. Olaf and the Grinch will be out between 11.30am
00:44to 12.10pm, 12.45pm to 1.20pm, and 2pm to 2.40pm.
00:52Nearby in South Ribble, Penrhythm Community Centre is holding a Christmas celebration
00:57today, on Saturday, December 21st. This free event, hosted by New Beginning Christian Church,
01:04is on between 5pm and 8pm, and is perfect for all the family. Attendees can expect to
01:10hear traditional carols, watch a kids' nativity, listen to some gospel stories, take part in
01:15kids' crafts, a photo booth, and enjoy food and hot chocolate.
01:22The pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, is then on at the Trolley Theatre, with shows
01:27from Tuesday to Saturday. Presented by K-DOS, this is a traditional pantomime for the whole
01:33family, which tells the story of a poor family forced to sell their beloved pet cow for a
01:39bag of beans, which brings some unexpected surprises. Unfortunately for those who have
01:44not yet grabbed their tickets, all the shows have now sold out.
01:49Over on the Fylde Coast, Blackpool Church is hosting an evening of traditional carol
01:54singing, led by a live choir, on Saturday, December 21st. Doors open at 6.30pm, with
02:02the free event starting at 7pm and finishing at 8pm. Audiences can also enjoy mulled wine
02:09and mince pies around the Christmas tree before the service.
02:14Christmas by Candlelight is also on at the Blackpool Winter Gardens on Sunday, December
02:1822nd. Starting at 7.30pm in the Empress Ballroom, a spectacular West End cast and an incredible
02:26live band perform your favourite Christmas hits as you've never heard them before. Tickets
02:32are still available and start from £25.
02:36So there are five top things to do next week, but whatever you're up to, have a good one!
