00:36And the United States announced a new $500 million military aid package for Ukraine on
00:41Thursday.
00:49Hello and welcome to From the South, from the headquarters of Telesur English in Havana,
00:53Cuba.
00:54I'm Pablo Micheliche, we begin with the news.
01:14An Israeli arrest rise in the central Gaza Strip on Thursday killed at least 25 Palestinians
01:19and injured dozens more, according to Palestinian doctors.
01:23The strike targeted a multi-story residential building in the Nusra Refugee Camp just hours
01:28after U.S. President Joe Biden's national security adviser expressed optimism about
01:33a potential ceasefire.
01:36Hospitals in the area reported receiving 25 bodies and treating over 40 injured individuals,
01:41many of whom were children.
01:44The attack also caused damage to nearby homes.
01:52Israeli military operations in Syria have reportedly destroyed approximately 86 percent
01:58of the country's anti-aircraft defense systems following a series of aggressive airstrikes.
02:04Over the past few days, the Zionist regime has conducted around 480 strikes allegedly
02:10targeting military installations and infrastructure, claiming these actions are essential to prevent
02:16weapons from reaching extremist groups and to counter Iranian military influence in the
02:21region.
02:22The extensive strikes have led to significant destruction, including naval vessels and military
02:28aircraft, raising concerns among international observers about potential violations of long-standing
02:34ceasefire agreements.
02:42Israel has also destroyed the entire Syrian naval force, taking advantage of the overthrow
02:46of President Bashar al-Assad.
02:48All the military ships remaining in the port of Latakia in the northwest of the country
02:53were sunk in the last 24 hours by the genocidal troops.
02:57Despite the appeals of the United Nations organization, the Israeli forces also bombed
03:02military vessels in Bania and warehouses in Tartus, causing heavy explosions throughout
03:08the area.
03:09The Zionist onslaught has also hit several areas in Damascus, which remains under the
03:14control of the Tel Aviv Allied Terrorist Group, now renamed Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.
03:26We change topic.
03:27Georgia has been rocked by mass demonstrations in recent months due to laws limiting the
03:33activities of foreign agents, the banning of LGBTQI plus advertising, and most recently
03:40the suspension of the country's integration into the European Union.
03:43Let's see more.
03:44For more than a week, the Georgian opposition has been trying to organize a new Euromaidan.
03:53The police have prevented protesters from camping in the streets and taking over the
03:57parliament, as was done in Kiev in 2014.
04:01The reason is the same.
04:03The Georgian parliament stopped Euro integration and refuses to continue receiving foreign
04:08grants.
04:09Just a year ago, Georgia was considered the most advanced and Western-loved state in the
04:18post-Soviet space, and literally in one year it lost everything.
04:23The Georgian government is becoming unyielding in the face of the Western elite, only because
04:28it dared to take a series of measures consistent with its national interests.
04:37The Georgian opposition, led by President Salome Zurabishvili, a French citizen, refuses
04:43to accept the election scheduled for December 14, and even called on schoolchildren to take
04:48to the streets as protesters throw firecrackers, stones, and even bottles with explosives at
04:55the police in an attempt to cause bloodshed.
05:02Everything that Zurabishvili does and says is within the logic of the things of the color
05:05revolutions.
05:06He writes in English on his Twitter or Facebook, I don't know what, already the university
05:10students are on strike, and now it's the turn of the schoolchildren, but she denies having
05:15done it.
05:16She says she couldn't ask people to take to the streets, much less schoolchildren, all
05:19in English.
05:21The methodology is this, the president writes in English, then the Georgian media translates
05:25and broadcasts it in Georgian, but she is now playing the fool.
05:33We are facing a new attempt of color revolution with a tried and tested script in different
05:38scenarios in the post-Soviet space, barricades, noise with pots, European deputies with orange
05:45scars, all led by local public figures trained in the West and open defenders of Western
05:51interests in their country.
05:57In Georgia, there is simply a color revolution going on.
06:00There, non-pro-Russian forces came to power through legal and completely democratic and
06:05legitimate procedures.
06:08They are supporters of Georgia's sovereignty.
06:11But those who are now raging against them in the streets are foreign agents who also
06:15opposed the decision to recognize foreign agents.
06:18They are degenerates, perverts, and tools of this liberal world elite who are organizing
06:23this to overthrow the lawful government of Georgia.
06:29Georgia is currently fighting for its sovereignty.
06:33It is clear that demonstrators wrapped in European Union, Ukrainian, and U.S. flags
06:38seek to turn their country into a subject of the West to serve as an instrument in its
06:43war against Russia, one more country to bleed with cheap cannon fodder and great wealth.
06:49In other words, just another Ukraine.
06:56And now we have a short break coming up, but first, remember you can join us on TikTok

07:05We'll be right back, stay with us.
07:26Welcome back to From the South.
07:28In Peru, the President Dino Abdullate enacted a new judicial reform dictated by the Parliament
07:33under strong questioning by the judiciary and various sectors of the country.
07:37The judicial sector questions the Congressional proposal to affirm a special high-level multi-party
07:43commission that within 90 days will study the present proposal for the integral reform
07:49of the entire justice administration system.
07:52They claim that it lacks support since the origin of many of the problems that the justice
07:57system in Peru is going through are produced precisely by the executives and the legislature.
08:03They also affirm that the reform favors criminal organization and corruption.
08:13Also Peru's Congress approved the entry of U.S. military troops with weapons into the
08:17country.
08:19The measure was approved for training and joint operations with the Army's Intelligence
08:23Command, the Peruvian Air Force Special Operations Force and Navy, as well as the National Police.
08:30However, Congressman Guillermo Bermejo Rojas sentenced that the United States Army has
08:34not reduced drug trafficking, illegal logging or illegal mining, expressing his concern
08:40about the fact that the U.S. military has immunity to be judged for crimes committed
08:45outside their country.
08:52We go to Venezuela.
08:53President Nicolás Maduro led the inauguration of the Humberto Fernández Morán University
08:57of Science.
08:58During the event, the Venezuelan leader affirmed that the new university institution will have
09:04the objective of promoting science and fostering the study of artificial intelligence in the
09:09face of the aggressions of the United States and its Western allies.
09:13Likewise, the Venezuelan head of state assured that the 16 careers that will be taught at
09:18the UNC, ranging from nanotheology to philosophy, will have the mission of building a new modernity
09:25in the country, far away from any Western doctrine.
09:28Likewise, the Venezuelan leader reaffirmed that the old model of Western civilization
09:33is in decadence and is causing a strong crisis in humanity.
09:43And it is a fact of historical uncertainty.
09:51The exhaustion of the old model of Western civilization has been leading to a terrible
09:56degradation and has brought Western civilization and humanity into a tremendous crisis, which
10:03they now want to solve with artificial intelligence by launching missiles, drone bombs, states
10:19of opinion, states of mind.
10:22There is a decadence.
10:23They have aimed at the destruction of the millenary culture of humanity.
10:27They have aimed at the destruction of the nucleus of the family, of the values of the
10:32family.
10:37They have aimed at confusing in a set of topics to fill with the dark, cold cloud the destiny
10:42of humanity.
10:45The Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Keith Rowley, denied the signing of an agreement
10:50to provide the territory to U.S. troops.
10:53Prime Minister Rowley reaffirmed that the position of Trinidad and Tobago in the face
10:58of conflicts in other countries has always been one of non-interference, asserting that
11:03at no time has an agreement been signed with the United States to make available the national
11:08territory to its military troops to respond to conflicts in third countries.
11:14In this sense, Rowley pointed out that whoever has affirmed something like that is not acting
11:19in accordance with the national interests of Trinidad and Tobago.
11:23He also assured that the country does not and will not support violations of the peace
11:28zone.
11:36Organized labor unions in Panama marched to the National Assembly headquarters in rejection
11:41of Bill 163 to reform the Social Security Fund.
11:45The members of the labor unions pointed out that the purpose of the mobilization was to
11:50demand the government to withdraw the law.
11:53Spokespersons of the social movement affirmed that the measure is detrimental to the workers
11:58and their families, and therefore they will not allow the financial reserve to be taken
12:02away.
12:03Nor will they allow the privatization of the only public entity for the care of retirees.
12:09In this context, the National Confederation of Independent Union Unities said that it
12:13will initiate proposals to have dignified and quality pensions in addition to medical
12:18benefits.
12:24Now in Guatemala, the second trial in the Ixil genocide case faced the risk of going
12:28unpunished.
12:30The legal defense of the former military chief of operations, Manuel Benedicto Lucas Garcia,
12:35was able to annul the trial through trickery, according to the victim's families.
12:40Let's see more.
12:45Justice is not only co-opted, but there is already a de facto amnesty that is freeing
13:05the military with respect of the responsibility for the genocide they committed against our
13:09peoples.
13:15Lucas Garcia's defense faced a challenge against the trial court, alleging its impartiality.
13:20Despite having no legal grounds, the first appeal court accepted the appeal, according
13:24to a plaintiff's lawyer.
13:28The court is removed from the trial, and a new court is appointed to hear the debate,
13:33which, let us say, leads to a situation of annulment of the debate stage and orders a
13:37repetition of the debate.
13:42The trial was suspended at the end of November of this year, after seven months of hearings
13:47in which witnesses, mainly women, had to relive the horrors experienced during the genocide
13:52in Guatemala.
13:56They did not come to lie, because they suffered in their own flesh.
14:00They saw it with their own eyes, all that happened in that region.
14:0792-year-old Manuel Benedicto Lucas Garcia is accused of designing the counterinsurgent
14:12strategy against the Mayan exiled people in Cuiche, in the Aries.
14:16Paradoxically, President Bernardo Levalo recently gave economic compensation to a group of military
14:21veterans of that era.
14:26It is sad to see that the paramilitaries are receiving compensation from the government.
14:30However, the victims of the armed conflict, who have been in the struggle for more than
14:3540 years, have not been able to get compensation from the government.
14:41On the other hand, the Guatebelga Collective has requested the extradition of several former
14:46high-ranking military commanders, including Lucas Garcia, in relation to another case
14:50for the murder of Belgian priests and missionaries during the 36 years of military repression.

15:15Welcome back to From the South.
15:35The United States announced a new $500 million military aid package for Ukraine on Thursday.
15:40This is the 72nd disbursement approved by the administration of President Joe Biden,
15:45who has already announced, despite warnings from his successor, that he will continue
15:50disbursements to Kyiv until January 20.
15:53The new aid includes ammunition for HIMARS systems, harm and javelin missiles, as well
15:58as equipment for handling chemical, biological and nuclear weapons.
16:02In this context, also the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, ratified that his country
16:08will deliver to Kyiv urgently needed weapons and equipment.
16:17Now in Spain, the case of the alleged fraud of the partner of President of Madrid Isabel
16:23Díaz Ayuso has unleashed a political and judicial crisis, with the indictment of the
16:28Attorney General of the state for the first time in a democracy.
16:31Our correspondent Álvaro Fraga with the details.
16:36The alleged fraud of more than €350,000 of Alberto González, partner of Díaz Ayuso,
16:43has resulted in the investigation of the state attorney general for the first time in democracy,
16:47after the leak of some emails between the lawyer of Alberto González and the public
16:51prosecutor's office, where they recognized the crime.
16:56What is happening in Spain is extremely serious.
16:59What we have learned these days is that there has been a state operation against a political
17:04adversary.
17:05This is unbecoming of a member country of the European Union.
17:12Ayuso denounces a hunt from the highest magistracies.
17:16Meanwhile, Sánchez defends the performance of the state attorney general, Álvaro García
17:20Ortiz, and points the finger at the Popular Party.
17:26We respect the decision of the Supreme Court, but we support the action of the attorney
17:30general of the state.
17:33When is the Popular Party going to ask for explanations and demand accountability from
17:37the president of the community of Madrid, who is the partner of a confessed criminal?
17:47The state attorney general has not been the only one to be tainted.
17:51The former leader of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party in Madrid, Juan Lobato, resigned
17:57because of the leak and the party's loss of confidence on the eve of its 41st Federal
18:03Congress of the Socialist Party.
18:07What happens in Madrid, for those who are listening to us, the power is concentrated
18:11in Madrid, the economic power, the financial power, the media power too, the big transnational
18:17capitals, so if you put all the power in Madrid and give it self-government, you turn its
18:22president into the president of power.
18:29An analysis that emphasizes how political, media and judicial operators act, and that
18:35the state attorney general also hinted at.
18:39We prosecutors handle very sensitive material, and we also handle a lot of information, a
18:45lot of information.
18:47I assure you that if I wanted to harm a certain political spectrum, I have plenty of information,
18:53which of course I will never use either to insinuate or to leak or to say anything.
19:01In recent years, the image of the judiciary has deteriorated precisely because of political
19:07interference in operations.
19:11If you touch financial powers or the partner of the president of the power, you are going
19:15to have a cascading response from all the powers, also within the judicial ecosystem
19:20where some judicial operators act as political agents.
19:24It is the state attorney general himself who ends up being indicted.
19:27This is not a minor thing, this reveals that in Madrid there is more concentrated power
19:32than in the government of Spain and in the state institutions.
19:40According to the analyst, the biases and systemic weaknesses of the judiciary in Spain could
19:45be a cause of these anomalies.
19:49In Spain there are biases in the resolutions of the judiciary and it has to do with how
19:53justice is structured in its own access, in its own class composition, in its own gender
19:58composition, and its tradition inherited from even before democracy and the moment of the
20:03democratic transition.
20:08In the midst of this political and judicial storm whose end is still uncertain, Ayuso
20:14remains in her post.
20:16The consequences are concentrated on those who have denounced the case, and Madrid remains
20:21the epicenter where much more than regional policies are decided.
20:30The alleged fraud of more than 350,000 euros of Alberto González.
20:35This country after defeating the Chinese, Tian Liren, the chess prodigy has become one
20:41of the stars of this country.
20:43After defeating the Chinese at the World Chess Championship, the 18-year-old has become the
20:47youngest chess champion in history.
20:50Gukesh lived up to his title of favorite in this year's championship final held Thursday
20:55in Singapore and smashed the record held by Russia's Garry Kasparov, who was 22 years
21:02old when he became world champion in 1985.
21:06The event has been a dream come true for Gukesh, who at only 12 years old became a
21:11grandmaster of India and who six years earlier had declared his intention to become the youngest
21:16champion in history.
21:28My whole strategy for this, for this match was to push as much as possible in every single
21:34game with both colors.
21:36I want to play for, play for as long as I can.
21:40I want to have a very, very long career and to stay at the very, very top.
21:44And like this, we have come to the end of this news brief, but remember you can find
21:48this and many other stories on our website at trezorenglish.net and join us on social
