01:57It's the third time in the span of a week that Moscow has engaged in the vacating, shifting
02:02or movement of its military assets in the country.
02:06This has prompted claims of a potential Russian withdrawal just one week after their longtime
02:10ally, President Bashar al-Assad, was ousted.
02:14And the spokesman for the new transitional government in Syria, Obede Arnaout, has declared
02:19the country's new position.
02:38The call for Russia's withdrawal from Syria could go a long way towards building bridges
02:42with the West.
02:44The EU announced that it had taken the first step towards making contact with the HTS since
02:49their dramatic overthrowing of Assad.
02:52And ensuring a Syrian future without Russia is high on the bloc's agenda.
02:56It should be a condition for the new leadership that they also get rid of the Russian influence
03:03there.
03:04Because it is a base where they also conduct their activities towards Africa and the southern
03:11neighbors so this is definitely of the worry of European security as well.
03:19The HTS say they plan to lay the foundation for a Syrian future that is built on unity
03:24and justice.
03:26But the group's history, marred with terrorist activities and accusations of human rights

04:43past year.

04:54involved in the repression of pro-European demonstrations.

05:04ministers in Brussels.
05:07Galas told reporters that Georgia is currently not going in the right direction where candidate
05:12countries should be.
05:15Thousands of Georgians have been protesting in response to the Georgian government's decision

07:15Finland is accelerating preparation for all potential conflicts, nuclear, hybrid war or
07:20even a full-scale invasion.
07:22It has a 1,300-kilometer border with Russia, although this has been closed for over a year
07:27after Russia sent over 1,000 migrants there to destabilize the country.
07:32Since then, Finland has been dealing with other warfare, such as the tampering of undersea
07:36cables, disinformation and the presence of so-called Russian shadow oil fleets, which
07:41illegally transport Russian oil, contravening Western sanctions.
07:46The Finnish border guard has been always an organization, a readiness organization, which
07:53has built its capabilities to operate in a situation like today, but of course it is
08:00also true that, for example, the phenomenon of shadow fleet, phenomenon of GPS disturbance
08:06and illegal immigration in the eastern borders are something that we have seen only in last
08:11years.
08:12We have seen, let's say, cable cuts, cable breakdown points, which are under criminal
08:19investigation.
08:20As I mentioned before, we also see a threat for an environmental accident in the Gulf
08:26of Finland, and one part of this is GPS disturbance, which can be seen especially in the eastern
08:33parts of the Gulf of Finland.
08:35Conscripts, which have long been part of Finland's overall security policy, are now training
08:40with the possibility that they could be defending the whole of Europe since the country joined
08:44NATO.
08:46Finland has been preparing for any war for several decades.
08:49The invasion by Russia in 1939 is something that Finns are constantly reminded of, and
08:55the key principle of this comprehensive security and defense strategy is deterrence.
09:00To deter any potential invader, in particular Russia, that this country is prepared, its
09:05society as a whole and military are well trained.
09:09It's not aimed only towards Finland or the neighboring countries, but Russia is trying
09:15to destabilize the whole of Europe, so the whole Europe has to take this hybrid war seriously.
09:23And because Russia cannot pressure us by threatening in the way of conventional war, because we
09:31are all members of NATO, the hybrid war is the mean they use to threaten us.
09:37Helsinki says it's now open to new EU defense spending, including defense bonds.
09:42The government says investing in European security fits in with the country's overall
09:46security strategy.

09:54A military aircraft has left the French island of Reunion to deliver tons of crucial aid
10:00to victims of Cyclone Chido in nearby Mayotte.
10:04Paris is ramping up its efforts to help the Indian Ocean island after it was hit by the
10:08worst storm in 90 years.
10:11Chido left little without damage, as it plowed through the densely populated archipelago
10:16of about 300,000 people on Saturday.
10:20Roofs were ripped off of homes, roads were destroyed, and electric and telecom grids
10:24sustained heavy damage.
10:26Hundreds are already feared dead, and more than a thousand are still missing.
10:30The official death toll currently stands at 14.
10:34Rescue operations are still ongoing, with some 800 first responders expected to arrive
10:39within days to intensify the efforts.
10:42French President Emmanuel Macron is set to visit the island in the coming days to offer
10:46his support to the French overseas department.
10:49In an emergency meeting, Macron said he will ensure all emergency measures are mobilized
10:54to help the inhabitants of Mayotte.
11:01A shooting at a Christian school in the U.S. state of Wisconsin has killed a teacher and
11:05a student.
11:06The shooter was also killed after sustaining a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
11:11The Madison Police Department have identified 15-year-old Natalie Ruffnow, who went by the
11:15name Samantha, as the shooter.
11:17Five other students and a teacher also sustained injuries.
11:21Two of the students are in critical condition.
11:24The Madison PD chief Sean Barnes says the shooter's parents were taken in for questioning
11:29and are fully cooperating with the officers.
11:32Their home is also being searched as detectives look to identify a motive behind the attack.
