00:00Last week as part of our search for places open on Christmas Day
00:02We went to Sicilian NQ an Italian restaurant in Manchester's northern quarter
00:06And what we found was one of the best vegan menus in the city
00:10We sat down to talk to owner Carmen Andrea about her own vegan journey and what makes this place so special
00:17So I was a vegetarian most of my life
00:21My family is vegetarian
00:24my sister is
00:26the boss that took this thing of
00:34Vegetarian when she was 11 and then in the same moment of our life
00:39One year ago more or less
00:42We both became a vegan
00:44so obviously this is against my
00:49beliefs
00:51but I also understand that
00:56This is a business
00:59so
01:00Maybe in the near future
01:03It's possible that I will go 100% vegan
01:07But the market now is not ready. We need to
01:12teach
01:13because sometimes people say oh vegan no good no
01:19things like
01:21Pasta with tomato sauce that we eat when we were children. This is vegan
01:27but people if you tell oh, do you want vegan? Oh, no, what's
01:32Because they believe that is the supermarket food. You know that
01:39food very processed
01:41Because I'm surrounded
01:43the Buddhist Center the junkie food Aladdin on the corner the Indian purezza
01:50That is
01:52Kind of Italian on the corner. So yeah, I am in the right position
