00:00Good afternoon from the Pag-asa Weather Forecasting Center.
00:03This is our update on the weather for the next 24 hours.
00:08Earlier this afternoon, Baguio-Caribbean continued to weaken as a low-pressure area
00:16that we are monitoring inside our PAR.
00:18And our latest location, as of 4 p.m. today,
00:22is just 275 kilometers east of Surigao City in Surigao del Norte.
00:29We expect that even though this is just a low-pressure area,
00:33it will still be affected by rain,
00:35especially here in the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao.
00:39Meanwhile, the trough extension will also be affected by thunderstorms
00:45for the rest of Visayas and the rest of Mindanao.
00:48Meanwhile, the continuation of the shoreline
00:50will be affected by hot and cold winds in the northern part of Southern Luzon.
00:55Meanwhile, the northeastern part of Amihan
00:58will also be affected by thunderstorms and thunderstorms
01:01in the regions of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, and in the province of Aurora.
01:06For Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon,
01:07this will continue to be clear for the next few days,
01:11aside from the chances of light rains or thunderstorms in Amihan.
01:16Due to the continued effect of the shoreline,
01:18we expect that here in the region of Cabiculan and in the province of Quezon,
01:24there will continue to be widespread rains, floods, and landslides
01:28brought by the weather system.
01:30That's why we expect heavy rains and landslides in this area.
01:34Meanwhile, as I said earlier,
01:36this area of Cagayan Valley,
01:38as well as here in the province of Cordillera and in the province of Aurora,
01:43we expect that it will continue to be cloudy
01:45and if we will experience rain, it will only be light rains.
01:49Generally, we expect fair weather conditions for Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
01:53Let's also be prepared for the chances of floods brought by Amihan.
01:58For Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao,
02:01a large part of Visayas,
02:03the whole of Visayas, including Western Visayas, Central Visayas, as well as Eastern Visayas,
02:08will continue to experience rains
02:10brought by the trough extension of this low-pressure area that we are monitoring.
02:14Meanwhile, in the other part, or the whole of Mindanao,
02:17the rains brought by the LPA will continue.
02:20Particularly, the Eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao in Eastern Visayas,
02:25as well as here in Caraga and Davao Region,
02:27these are the areas that will be most affected by the rains brought by the low-pressure area.
02:31That's why we should be prepared for the chances of landslides in these areas.
02:36In the other part, this cloudy weather will continue
02:39aside from the chances of floods brought by Amihan.
02:43This is the latest weather advisory that we are issuing as of 5 p.m. today.
02:49Starting today, starting tonight until tomorrow afternoon,
02:54we expect that because of the landslides or the effects of the low-pressure area and shoreline,
02:59the areas of Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte,
03:06as well as here in Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur will be most affected.
03:10We expect that these areas shaded by orange,
03:15heavy to intense rains, 100 to 200 millimeters of rainfall.
03:19Meanwhile, we expect moderate to heavy rains in the rest of Eastern Visayas,
03:24Central Visayas, some parts of Caraga, as well as here in the area of Misamis Oriental.
03:30Meanwhile, because of the shoreline, we expect moderate to heavy rains here in the Southern Luzon area,
03:34in the areas of Bicol Region, as well as here in the province of Quezon.
03:41Starting tomorrow afternoon to Friday afternoon,
03:45the areas that will experience heavy rains will increase.
03:50We will notice that there is a northward shift in the rainfall.
03:53We will see that there will be heavy rains in the low-pressure area here in Sorsogon.
03:58Heavy to intense rains again in the areas shaded by orange here in Sorsogon,
04:03Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, in the area of Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte,
04:09here in Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte.
04:13Moderate to heavy rains again in the areas shaded by yellow in the southern part of Bicol Region,
04:19continuing here in the area of Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon,
04:23as well as here in Aklan, Capiz, the entire Negros Island Region, the entire Central Visayas,
04:30and this southern part of Caraga, as well as here in Camiguin and Misamis Oriental.
04:37Starting Friday afternoon to Saturday afternoon,
04:41heavy to intense rains will continue.
04:43There will be more areas of Bicol Region that will experience heavy rains,
04:48along the shoreline.
04:50So heavy to intense rains, again these are the areas shaded by orange in Tanduanes,
04:56Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte.
05:04We hope for moderate to heavy rains in areas shaded by yellow in the southern part of Bicol Region,
05:11in the area of Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon,
05:15here in the area of Palawan, including Calayan Islands, the entire Western Visayas,
05:20the entire Negros Island Region, the entire Central Visayas,
05:24and these areas of the northern portion of Mindanao in the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte,
05:29Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental,
05:32as well as here in Agusan del Norte and Sorigo del Norte, including Dinagat Islands.
05:39So in these areas, especially the areas shaded by orange,
05:43the heavy to intense rains that we expect,
05:45we should be prepared for possible floods and landslides,
05:48especially if the rains that we will experience will continue.
05:51So even if the downgrade to low-pressure areas,
05:55we expect that in the coming days, it will cross the Visayas-Mindanao area,
06:00so it will cross during this time,
06:02so it will cause rainfalls in the mentioned areas.
06:06So in addition to this low-pressure area,
06:09it is also possible for the shear line or the convergence of hot and cold winds,
06:15so a large part of Southern Luzon, as well as Visayas,
06:19and the northern portion of Mindanao,
06:21we should be prepared for possible floods and landslides,
06:25and we should be prepared for rainfall advisories or heavy rainfall warnings
06:29that are being issued by our regional centers in our localities.
06:35And in the current situation of our ocean,
06:38as of 5 p.m. today, we have raised the Gale Warning No. 1
06:42in anticipation of strong winds brought by the Northeast Monsoon, or the Amihan Wind.
06:48As of 5 p.m. today, we have raised the Gale Warning No. 1
06:51in the areas or provinces of Batanes, as well as here in Babuyan Islands.
06:56Meanwhile, we are also expecting rough sea conditions or high seas
07:00in the western seaboard of Northern Luzon,
07:02and moderate to rough sea conditions,
07:04moderate to high seas in the eastern section of our country.
07:08So be careful of our fishermen and fishermen,
07:14and small boats in the areas that have Gale Warnings.
07:18Let's not go too far,
07:20because it is possible for us to experience there a rough sea
07:23brought by the Amihan Wind.
07:26And for our three-day weather outlook in the neighboring cities of our country,
07:30a large part of the northern and central Luzon,
07:32or the cities of Metro Manila and Baguio City,
07:35for the next three days, or from Friday to Sunday,
07:38this clear weather will continue,
07:41if we will experience rain.
07:43These are just light rains or thunderstorms.
07:45For Bicol Region and most of Quezon,
07:48the rain will continue,
07:50or the scattered rains,
07:52and possibly floods,
07:54landslides,
07:55brought by the shoreline.
07:58As for the areas in Visayas,
08:00a large part of Visayas,
08:01the rain will continue,
08:03brought by the possible low-pressure area
08:06that is Baguio-Querubin.
08:08So especially here in Tacloban City,
08:10from Friday to Sunday,
08:11this rain will continue.
08:13But for Metro Cebu and Iloilo City,
08:15we expect that by Sunday,
08:17the rain will gradually decrease.
08:20Even so, we are still prepared for the chance of isolated rain showers
08:23or localized thunderstorms.
08:26As for Mindanao,
08:28the areas of Metro Davao,
08:31Cagayan de Oro City and Zamboanga City,
08:34the rain will continue,
08:35brought by the expected low-pressure area.
08:39So from Friday to Saturday,
08:41we expect that there will be floods
08:43and a high chance of rain
08:45in a large part of Mindanao.
08:47But come Sunday,
08:49the rain will decrease.
08:52Generally, we expect fair weather conditions.
08:55But by the afternoon and evening,
08:57the chances of isolated rain showers
09:00and localized thunderstorms will still be high.
09:02That's why it's best to bring an umbrella in case of rain.
09:05The sunny days here in Manila
09:07will be flooded by 5.31 p.m.
09:10and will be clear by 6.15 a.m. tomorrow.
