A look at the injury room at LFC.
Transcript
00:00Looking at Liverpool and in terms of their injuries, it was no secret that Jurgen Klopp
00:06suffered very heavily with injuries in his final season. That depleted side that took
00:11on the cup runs were fantastic in that achievement. The squad is already quite small, we've discussed
00:19how small and tight-knit the squad already is and there have been a few big injuries
00:25so far this season. If you look at Alisson's injury, Keller had stepped up fantastically
00:30well. How important is it that if players are to go, the second in line really do continue
00:35to step up and perform? What's the latest you can tell us on injuries ahead of this
00:41festive period?
00:42That's massive, it was excellent. Both Alisson's come back into the team now and that performance
00:48against Girona was so keen to restore him to number one position. In terms of the injuries,
00:55there haven't been any real long-term ones, if that makes sense. Xabi Ali was out for
01:01a few months, Alisson for a few months, Josef for almost two months. There have been no
01:09severe knee injuries, which usually end players' seasons. As things stand, you've got Conor
01:17Bradley and Ibrahimovic Canate who are out. Conor Bradley has been second choice for the
01:22most part behind Trent Alexander-Arnold, which is to be expected. Canate has been a dominant
01:30figure alongside Birgit van Dijk this season. It's fair play to Joe Gomez, you say players
01:34stepping up. Joe Gomez hasn't played a lot of football in his favoured central position
01:40over the last few years. Last season he did play quite a lot of football but that was
01:44right back and then left back when Andy Robertson and Costa Simacas were both sidelines. Simacas
01:52now on his way back from an ankle injury himself. There have been some doubts over Andy Robertson's
02:01form this season. He obviously had that red card against Fulham. Simacas has done fairly
02:06well to be fair to him when he has played this campaign. Another one who looks like
02:12he might be at the end of a lot of issues is Federico Chiesa. He came in from Juventus
02:18at the end of the transfer window in the summer and he didn't have a pre-season at Juventus,
02:25which severely hampered him. Liverpool were building his fitness up and then he suffered
02:30an issue after making three appearances. Liverpool have just had to be patient with him to try
02:35to make sure that he doesn't break down again. As I say, there haven't been many serious
02:41injuries yet and maybe that's a credit to Arnaslott because he has taken some players
02:48out and substituted them when they need to. Players like Van Dijk and Ryan Granbert have
02:58played a lot of football this season and maybe they need to be looked after a little bit
03:02carefully in the coming months.
