00:00Legal experts are now studying what President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said about the call for a clemency for Mary Jane Veloso.

00:10Kenneth Paciente has the details of the country's news.

00:15President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has received a request for a clemency for Mary Jane Veloso

00:20following her return from Indonesia to serve her sentence.

00:25According to the President,

00:26although the Indonesian government did not give a condition for the transfer of Veloso,

00:31the government will now ask legal experts to talk to him about a clemency.

00:56We will ask experts to determine whether the provision of a clemency is appropriate.

01:08Despite the President's reaction to the recommendation of the Quad Committee of the Congress,

01:12which filed the case against former President Rodrigo Duterte and others

01:16because of the campaign against illegal drugs,

01:18the President insisted that this is now under the jurisdiction of the Justice Department.

01:23The Quad Committee's recommendation is that when they do an oversight hearing,

01:32they will forward their findings to the DOJ with their own recommendations

01:37as to how to handle the findings in the hearings.

01:43So we will go now to the DOJ.

01:45Despite this, the President said that this is still a long process,

01:48especially since he still needs to gather evidence for the case build-up.

01:52I will look into it.

01:53There are a lot of things that need to be assessed.

01:56If the case can be filed,

01:59if the direction of the recommendation of the committees from the House is correct.

02:09The President shared his plan for this Christmas.

02:12He said that he will celebrate Christmas here in Manila with First Lady Luis Araneta Marcos.

02:17They also plan to go to Baguio and visit Ilocos.

02:21Even though it's Christmas, the work for the Chief Executive is still ongoing.

02:25I don't have off days.

02:27I'm not included there.

02:31We're not included on vacation, holidays, weekends.
