00:00Political analysts have expressed doubt about Jeffy Kittingan's potential to become Saba's
00:06chief minister given that his party, Party Solidarity Tana Aiku, holds only six seats
00:12in the state assembly. James Chin from the University of Tasmania said it would be impossible
00:17for Kittingan to lead without significant support, noting Starr's plans to merge with
00:21Party Bersatu Saba, which holds seven seats. Discussions about a merger were intensifying
00:27earlier this month as both parties, native to Saba, explored forming an alliance. Bill
00:32Chibala of University Malaysia Saba pointed out that Kittingan would require strong backing
00:37from the larger Gabungan Rakyat Saba coalition, particularly from the 26 seats held by Party
00:42Gagasan Rakyat Saba, led by Chief Minister Hajiji Noor. Despite calls from Saba Abno
00:47for Kittingan to replace Hajiji following an alleged mining scandal, Starr has maintained
00:52support for Hajiji. Kerry Chee, Starr's Women's Wing Chief, publicly supported Kittingan
00:58for chief minister, though this was later described as her personal view by Party Deputy
01:02Ardino Diris. Chin said Chee's comments should not be taken seriously as she belongs
01:07to the same party as Kittingan.
