00:00The game itself with the Bears. I want to present something to you, Stoney, because
00:04this game, listen, they're all going to be important for Detroit and how they look, I think, is going to maybe settle some people down or freak some people out.
00:11I think one of the keys to this game is the fact that Chicago has struggled mightily in the first half of games.
00:17Right? Baldinger brought it up. Right. I want to put a stat on it for you. You love stats. Yes.
00:21So the Chicago Bears
00:23have been outscored in the first half
00:2653 to nothing since Thanksgiving morning in the first half, 53 to nothing since Thanksgiving day
00:34since their last victory in London on October 13th.
00:37Yeah, it's been that long since they won a football game.
00:39The average halftime score has been opponents 15 Bears for
00:45if Detroit can get up, it plays into their strengths, running the football, forcing Caleb to
00:51take a few chances, put the ball in harm's way, allow this defense to pin their ears back a little bit.
00:56I think that's a huge part of this game this week.
00:58But if it's close going into the half, Chicago does play better in the second half.
01:03They have the last few weeks.
01:04They haven't won the games as we saw here, but they were certainly better in those games.
01:11And you think it's going to be close?
01:12I think it's going to be somewhat close or at least backdoor cover for the Bears.
01:17Yeah, well within six points, yeah, it's going to be close.
01:20Yeah.
01:24I wonder how people will react if this game is tight or maybe they'll take the Dan Campbell approach.
01:28One point win doesn't matter.
01:29That's what that's my approach.
01:31Yeah, I mean, I'm really not going to know at the end of the year, you know, you count how many W's you have and they all count the same because a win isn't going to like plant the flag that their Super Bowl chances got.
01:42No, no, no, no.
01:44It might give you some more reason to fear or whatever, be concerned about if, you know, for instance, let's say it's a slugfest.
01:56Let's say, you know, the Bears offense scores 38 points and Lions win 41-38.
02:01Okay, yeah, I might have a problem with the Chicago Bears scoring 38 points on you going forward.
02:07In a weird way, and I'm not, is this a game where they have very little to gain and a lot to lose?
02:13Well, you take the deal.
02:16Yeah, but seriously.
02:17Yeah.
02:20No, I'm going to change my mind on that.
02:22No, because they do have a lot to lose.
02:24They got tons of said a lot to lose and very little to gain.
02:27Oh, no, they yes, because if they don't win the gain is the win.
02:32So it's but that win itself is it's significant because you got to keep pace with Philly, Minnesota, but it doesn't like reinforce a belief that you're that you're winning the Super Bowl or anything like that.
02:42It doesn't silence any doubt that you to me.
02:45It doesn't anyway, right?
02:46The all win for the Lions is to win the game.
02:51Hopefully look decent doing it.
02:53So people build confidence.
02:55If you care about that at all from a fan base and obviously the obvious is no more injuries.
03:03There's like one win maybe that would kind of like they won this way that would bother me.
03:09It's the Texans win.
03:10If there was a game that played out like that, I would start having some concern throwing a lot of interception him doing that outside, you know, get a little weird.
03:20I'm pretty much though.
03:21I take it anyway this week because I just think they got to get going and get the get the urgency going.
03:27I mean, it is this is the final push now and I think that, you know, talking about being in the tournament already.
03:33Now, you got to the one goal is still there.
03:36And so to me, if you won 17 to 13 or something like that, if you got some things to work on fine, so be it.
03:45But who cares winning on the road is hard in this league.
03:47Still, it's a division rival.
03:49Like the principles I've grown up with in the NFL say that this game should be relatively close except the Bears have been so horrendous lately.
03:58Yeah, the Bears weakness, especially as balding are pointed out that, you know, their offensive line.
04:03The Lions have not had much of a pass rush lately.
04:06If they can't get to Williams against this offensive line.
04:11Yeah, then there's might be a red flag waved to Baldy's point.
04:14Bears are different team than the last time.
04:15Just like Detroit right different coach at this point Detroit could have put that game away much earlier on Thanksgiving Day.
04:23The offense needed to finish more of those drives.
04:24Oh, yeah, there's an added emphasis on the offense.
04:26I think the fact that they haven't run the ball.
04:28Well, the last couple weeks.
04:29I'll channel some John Jansen.
04:31He believes this offensive line is going to come out rip people's faces off.
04:33I hope so and and he would know he cited.
04:36Hey, I've been in that spot where we've underachieved up front and we know hey, we got to step up this team specifically up front one of the best in football lean on the offensive line on the road in it's not going to be terrible weather, but cold weather outdoors.
04:49If this offensive line jump some early and finishes in the red zone early and puts the Bears on their heels.
04:54This is a team that's already talking about vacations, you know, I'm saying three weeks to go.
04:58They've got a star receiver already talking about I'm thinking about vacations.
05:02Yeah, put a mentally in Cabo before the halftime.
05:05I mean, I think that very much is on the table for the Lions here.
05:08Just hopefully his vacation won't be going up against Vildor.
05:13You know, you mentioned the weather's not going to be a humongous deal, but the feel it's a field will probably be somewhat slightly frozen or it could be slick with the way the temperatures are.
05:21Caleb Williams is never really played in something like this on natural grass, right?
05:26So his escapability might not be as good when they play bears all in like are they preparing?
05:32I let's have our best cleats on and all that.
05:34You know, seriously, little things like that.
05:36When he was a USC and he played at and he played at Notre Dame one last year.
05:40I don't even know what they probably play early in the season.
05:42So they usually play an ugly game, though.
05:44Yeah.
05:44Yeah.
05:45Like his performance was ugly.
05:47I mean, the Bears have lost how many games in a row now?
05:49I mean, it's nine, isn't it?
05:51One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight in a row in a row.
05:54It'd be nine this week.
05:57What is their level of resistance here?
06:00I mean, they're pros.
06:01They'll show up.
06:01They want to win as opposed to losing, but that's the baseline.
06:04Like, I don't think you're getting like an inspired Chicago Bears team, right?
06:08You would think not, but and you're getting inspired Lions team.
06:11And even if they're undermanned, inspired against a team that's lost eight in a row
06:14should be enough to get it done on the road.
06:16Which ones?
06:17Which games their Super Bowl?
06:18Is it this one?
06:19Or is it the one against Green Bay?
06:20The last game of the season, right?
06:22They think Green Bay is a bigger rival to them.
06:23Yes, I understand that.
06:25They can do more damage to the Lions than they can to the Packers.
06:28Correct.
06:29Because the Packers are going to be in the playoffs.
06:31Maybe a seed might change, but they're not going to win the division.
06:35It feels kind of like the Packers are locked into that six, right?
06:37Yeah.
06:38Because Minnesota or Detroit will be the five.
06:40Green Bay will be the six.
06:41And then the last spot is likely the commanders.
06:43Correct.
06:44Not a lot of drama in terms of the bottom of the NFC playoff bracket.
06:48No.
06:49Plenty at the top.
06:50Plenty at the top.
06:50Plenty at the top.
06:51Plenty at the top.
06:52Plenty at the top.
06:53Plenty at the top.
06:54Plenty at the top.
06:55Because of that NFC North.
