00:00This is a video of the first part of the tour.
00:13Protected areas, towards a national and unitary strategy.
00:19One mission, one planet. The respect of the environment comes in the stadiums.
00:25Increase responsible tourism and increase and protect the protected areas
00:29by establishing a tool of central coordination.
00:32It is what emerged from the two days of the General States of the Italian Protected Areas
00:36called by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security
00:40together with Federparchi, ten years since the last edition.
00:44The event, which took place in the seat of the National Library of Rome,
00:47represents a crucial moment for the future of the Italian Protected Areas,
00:51with the aim of putting in place a central coordination
00:54and start a reform of the current system.
00:56So far, national parks, regional parks and marine areas
01:00have lived each one on their own.
01:04We need to create a system to be able to reach 30% of the protected area by 2030.
01:10We need to make a system to organize strategies to protect biodiversity.
01:16In the presence of institutional representatives,
01:19environmental organizations and the world of research and culture,
01:23the emphasis has been placed on the need to overcome the current fragmentation.
01:27The proposal of a national coordination tool,
01:31guided by the MASE, and supported by technical boards
01:34with central and regional administrations,
01:37to create a unitary network and a long-term shared strategy, has emerged.
01:41The meeting has represented an opportunity to compare
01:44and propose updates to the Framework Law on Protected Areas,
01:48the famous 394 in 1991,
01:50considered by now to be modernized to meet the current needs.
01:54The law must be absolutely adequate,
01:57but the importance of this meeting is not only in the adequacy of the law,
02:03but in the possibility of continuity in the comparison
02:08of those who represent the interests of the protected areas
02:13and must try to find within this comparison
02:18the proposals that will be directed in the coming years.
02:21There is an imbalance between parks and protected marine areas,
02:25but above all there is a perception in the collective imagination
02:28that is lower than the importance of the protected areas.
02:31Italy boasts an extraordinary biodiversity,
02:34with 22% of the territory covered by protected areas,
02:3724 national parks, 30 protected marine areas,
02:40149 state natural reserves and 3 many regional parks,
02:44in addition to numerous other protected areas.
02:47The Italian protected areas record almost 100 million annual visits,
02:51proving to be important not only for environmental protection,
02:54but also for tourism and the local economy,
02:56involving about 2 million workers.
02:59We must certainly find a way to ensure that within the protected areas
03:04we can continue to do all those agricultural and breeding activities
03:08that allow the territory to be cared for,
03:11because the farmer is the first custodian of the environment,
03:14where there is no agriculture, there is deforestation.
03:16The meeting is intended to trace the path for the future
03:19of environmental protection and the enhancement of Italian natural areas.
03:24Unite innovation, technology and information
03:26to increase the level of awareness of public opinion fans
03:29on the environmental impact of an inadequate dismantling
03:32of small reefs during sporting events.
03:35This is the goal of One Mission, One Planet,
03:38the new Sea Life Foundation campaign in collaboration with Bat Italia and Udinese Calcio,
03:42which aims to reduce CO2 emissions
03:44and to counter the phenomenon of littering.
03:46The initiative also sees the participation of the Just On Earth startup
03:50and the sponsorship of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region.
03:53This is a very important campaign that will involve football fans,
03:59precisely because we want to bring the message
04:02to reduce the impact that major events such as football games have on the environment.
04:11Our goal is to reduce CO2 emissions and littering
04:16during these major events.
04:19We will ask to sign the fan manifesto,
04:22which is a commitment that the fan takes
04:25to try to pay more attention to how he throws away the waste
04:31and to what is its impact during football games.
04:35The campaign is perfectly in line with Bat Italia's activity.
04:37The company has set ambitious goals in the field of ESG,
04:41such as the achievement of carbon neutrality by 2030
04:44and the exclusive use of recyclable, reusable or compostable plastic packaging by 2025,
04:50in addition to having in its DNA the attention to the territory in which it operates,
04:54in the context of share value.
04:56The strengths of Bat, in my opinion, are to focus on three factors,
05:00which are innovation and technology, sustainability and people.
05:04Precisely for these factors, we have found here on this territory
05:08all the ingredients we needed to make this investment in the territory
05:13and stay on the territory.
05:14Here there is everything we need to create an ecosystem
05:19and above all for our concept of share value,
05:24that is, to give value back to the territory.
05:26According to recent estimates, European football produces
05:29about 750,000 tons of waste annually,
05:32a fact that highlights the urgency to take concrete and effective measures
05:35to mitigate the environmental consequences of this so popular sport,
05:38an urgency also perceived by Udinese Calcio, which has chosen to support the project.
05:43Today this collaboration with Marevivo and Bat Italia
05:48allows us to give even more substance to this journey
05:53that we are doing in the field of sustainability.
05:55We really believe that through actions of communication,
05:59through concrete measures in the organization of matches
06:07and through the possibility of measuring these actions,
06:11we can really take concrete steps forward
06:14on a topic that does not allow delays such as sustainability.
