00:21Hello viewers, how are you today?
00:23Live from IDX Channel Jakarta, I'm Prasetyo Wibowo
00:27Welcome back to Market Review
00:29We're going to talk about issues that affect the economy in Indonesia
00:32And this time, we're going to talk about an industry
00:35That is still trying to survive
00:39To maintain its energy or its industry
00:43Which is the textile industry
00:45And what kind of textile products
00:47We're going to show you in 2025
00:50Let's start the Market Review
00:572025 Market Review
01:02The year 2025 is a challenging year
01:06And uncertain for the textile industry in Indonesia
01:09And one of them is the textile industry and textile products
01:12This is due to the importation of TPT products
01:15To the increase in the minimum wage of the province
01:17And also the increase in taxes to 12%
01:232025
01:26The year 2025 for some businesses and governments
01:30Of course it will be a year full of hopes and dreams
01:33To realize the success and targets that have been set this year
01:38However, the condition does not apply to the textile industry and textile products
01:43Which is faced with dilemmas in the context of 2025
01:49No matter how, when faced with the pandemic
01:51COVID-19, the national textile industry
01:53Until now, it still continues to struggle
01:55To be able to maintain the activity of the industry
01:59Various problems surrounding the textile industry
02:01Also began to disrupt the maintenance of the textile industry in the country
02:05This year alone, thousands of employees
02:07Who are forced to be housed or even affected
02:09Work relationship decisions or PHK
02:12While some other textile industries
02:14Choose to relocate their business
02:16To an area that has a lower wage
02:20In Ceylon, the Statistics Agency notes
02:22Textile exports and textile products
02:24Indonesia during the January-October period
02:262024 experienced an increase
02:28The value of TPT exports during the period
02:31Reached 9.85 billion US dollars
02:34With a volume of around 1.6 million tons
02:38Although TPT products are still a community
02:40That contributes the most to the export of Indonesia to the United States
02:44During the January-October period
02:462024
02:47It was noted that the three largest contributors
02:49To Indonesia's export to the world
02:51That is the engine and electrical equipment
02:53And part of it
02:54As big as 348.4 million US dollars
02:58Based on 269.1 million US dollars
03:02Then the clothes and accessories
03:04218.1 million US dollars
03:08So is the same problem
03:10Will still await the TPT industry in 2025?
03:15Let's take a look at the details
03:21Yes, Mr. Mirso, to discuss our theme this time
03:23The dilemma of the national textile industry
03:25Looking at 2025
03:27We have been connected through Zoom
03:29Together with Mr. Retma Gitawirawasta
03:31General Manager of the Association for the Production of Silk, Wool, and Filaments in Indonesia
03:35Hello Mr. Retma, how are you?
03:37Good, good, Mr. Pras, good
03:39Okay, thank you for your time
03:41We are now joined by Mr. Andri Satrio Nugroho
03:43Head of the Indeval Industrial and Investment Center
03:46Hello, Mr. Andri, how are you?
03:48How are you, Mr. Pras?
03:49Thank you for your time
03:51And before we discuss further
03:53As usual, we will see
03:55What is the latest update from the sector
03:59Especially when it comes to labor
04:01Then the textile industry and textile products
04:03At the end of 2024
04:06What is it like, Mr. Retma?
04:08The real conditions on the ground right now
04:12Yes, now the utilization rate is below 50%
04:18On average, from Hulu to Hilir
04:22We are in Hulu
04:24Utilization may already be 40%
04:27Because yesterday, at the end of November
04:30There was an incident that stopped again
04:34He has two plans
04:36One plan in Karawang, one plan in Kaliungu
04:39The one in Kaliungu is still in operation
04:41But the one in Karawang, the one that made the fiber
04:43It has also stopped
04:45This quarter
04:49Our utilization has dropped to about 40%
04:55If we look at the Hilir, the mid
04:59Even up to Hilir Downstream
05:02The logic, if a large company stops
05:07There will be a shortage of raw materials in the midstream
05:11But the midstream is not struggling with the shortage of raw materials
05:15It means the midstream is also slow
05:18If we estimate the midstream is about 45%
05:22Maybe only in Hilir, which runs at about 55%
05:26Okay, Mr. Andri
05:28If from the Indep itself
05:30How about our labor sector in 2024?
05:34Because we also know the threat of labor relations
05:39Then thousands of imported products
05:42Both legal and illegal
05:44This affects our labor industry
05:47Yes, Mr. Pras
05:49So if we talk about the threat of PHK
05:53Of course this is no longer a threat
05:56This has happened
05:58And PHK's contribution in 2024
06:02Most of it comes from textiles
06:04And this is actually
06:06Also approved by the Ministry of Labor
06:10That one of the quite large leaps
06:14PHK this year comes from that sector
06:17And we know that up to this day
06:21If I'm not mistaken, 60 textile companies
06:27From Ulu to Hilir are also closed
06:30Including inside
06:33It's a textile company
06:35Owned by the country is also closed
06:39So this in my opinion
06:42Now it's no longer an alarm
06:48I think this has already happened
06:51It can be said
06:54If there is no effort
06:58Which is quite extraordinary
07:01It means not the usual
07:04This is of course in 2025
07:07We can no longer see the textile industry
07:12It can be like that
07:13So one by one
07:15As Mr. Rekhma said
07:17Even now it's in Ulu
07:21So now the focus of the government
07:28Still not seen
07:29That there has been a delay
07:34Many in PHK
07:36Of course we see that
07:38Don't let this happen again in 2025
07:42And of course what we are worried about
07:47What we are worried about is
07:51When everything is closed
07:54The original investor will definitely enter
07:57By using imported materials
08:00This is what I think
08:03Becomes one thing to pay attention to
08:06So when everything is dead
08:08The investor comes
08:11So the goal is to destroy the market first
08:15Then the investor enters
08:17This has already happened in my opinion
08:19And in 2025 don't even
08:22We don't even have a share
08:24Related to the textile industry again in the country
08:27That's what I think
08:28As a note this year
08:30This is a very worrying concern
08:34If the textile industry is really
08:38Must be eliminated from the map of the Indonesian industry
08:41We will discuss later what the strategy is
08:43How about the restructuring program
08:45The textile industry and textile products
08:47That have been planned by the government
08:49What is the implementation like
08:50We will discuss later in the next segment
08:52And viewers, stay with us
09:10Thank you for still joining us in Market Review
09:13In the next segment, we will present data from the Statistic Center
09:17Related to the growth of the textile industry
09:20And also footwear
09:22This is the data for the 3rd quarter of 2024
09:24By year
09:26In the 3rd quarter of this year
09:28It actually recorded a double-digit growth
09:3010.15%
09:32Up compared to the previous 2nd quarter
09:35At 1.93%
09:37Even higher if we compare it to the 3rd quarter of 2023
09:40Which still recorded a negative growth of 2.96%
09:44And next, for the textile industry and footwear
09:47In the 3rd quarter of 2024
09:50It recorded a growth of 7.43%
09:53Even higher compared to the 2nd quarter
09:55Which still minus 0.03%
09:57Then in the 3rd quarter of 2023
09:59A negative growth of 2.96%
10:02Alright, we will discuss
10:04Related to some of the data that have been presented
10:06Together with Mr. Ritma Gita Wirawasta
10:08And Mr. Andres Satriani Guroho
10:10Alright, Mr. Ritma, this is interesting
10:12The data from the BPS
10:14In the 3rd quarter of this year
10:16It actually showed a positive growth
10:18For the leather industry, leather goods
10:20And also footwear, and then also the textile industry
10:22And the used clothes in the 3rd quarter of this year
10:24Still showed a positive growth
10:26Now, what is it like?
10:28Actually, this data with the real conditions on the ground
10:30If you said earlier
10:32There are already a lot of investments
10:34Then the utilization is only
10:36Around 40% right now
10:38Yes
10:40This data actually
10:42Represents
10:44The highest growth
10:46From the point of view of consumption
10:48Because if we look at the production side
10:50If we look at the reality, there are a lot of factories
10:52Which are after the collapse of the PHP
10:54Now this consumption
10:56Of course we ask
10:58Whose goods are consumed?
11:00Because if we talk about growth calculations
11:02Of course there is
11:04Government spending, community spending
11:06If for export-import
11:08That is recorded
11:10Trade difference
11:12Between export-import
11:14Export that is recorded is reduced by imported goods
11:16Now the problem is
11:18We have a lot of unrecorded imports
11:20If when the BPS
11:22Do a consumption survey
11:24Maybe the consumption is increasing
11:26But the problem is when the consumption
11:28It should represent domestic production
11:30Yes
11:32The recorded imports have been reduced by
11:34Export earlier
11:36It turns out that a lot of unrecorded imports
11:38Recognized as
11:40Community consumption
11:42Finally the BPS notes that
11:44Unrecorded consumption
11:46Is domestic production
11:48Whereas it turns out that it is not domestic production
11:50But unrecorded imports
11:52So I think
11:54There is a miss there
11:56In the calculation problem
11:58Because indeed
12:00All imports should be recorded
12:02We don't blame the BPS
12:04Because the BPS only gets reports
12:06From friends
12:08By the BPS
12:10Which is not recorded
12:12You mean it's illegal
12:14Of course it's illegal
12:16If it's not recorded in the BPS
12:18It means it's illegal
12:20If we look at the data compared to the trade map
12:22In 2023
12:24Around 1.5 billion USD
12:26For textiles
12:28Among the three that have been recorded
12:30Maybe this year there will be more
12:32Unrecorded gaps
12:34Okay, Mas Andri
12:36So how about
12:38The data that can be analyzed
12:40As it turns out
12:42If Mr. Ritma said
12:44Whose products are consumed
12:46Finally by the community
12:48Compared to textiles
12:50It has been said that there are so many unrecorded
12:52What does it look like from Indef?
12:54Yes, of course
12:56This is a note
12:58For the first
13:00BPS
13:02That often
13:04The data issued by the BPS
13:06Does not describe
13:08The real conditions on the ground
13:10Okay
13:12Not only the textile sector
13:14But also other sectors
13:16We also get the same complaints
13:18Then the second
13:20That is
13:22Mr. Ritma said
13:24The second is
13:26Illegal imports
13:28Into Indonesia
13:30And we know that
13:32Right now the purchasing power of the community is declining
13:34Where they are
13:36Far more
13:38For this illegal import
13:40It's much cheaper
13:42So the community finally found
13:44Between supply and demand
13:46What
13:48The community is now
13:50More prefer to look for
13:52Cheap products
13:54Is
13:56Illegal imports
13:58Usually bought
14:00Through e-commerce
14:02In my opinion
14:04Note that
14:06There is still no improvement
14:10Related to this illegal import
14:12Especially if we talk
14:14Indeed related to the effort
14:16From the government itself yesterday
14:18With the illegal import
14:20Right now
14:22When it has changed
14:24The purchasing power
14:26Is no longer heard
14:28Where
14:30This illegal import
14:32And
14:34Most likely this December
14:36Will be
14:38Re-evaluated
14:40Whether to continue or not
14:42But this is a note
14:44That still
14:46This illegal import still happens
14:48Then
14:50Some reports related to
14:52Data BPS earlier
14:54There is indeed
14:56In the healer sector recorded
14:58In textile and fabric
15:00But there is also a sector
15:02That is still recorded
15:04In the chemistry section
15:06So there is a chemical sector
15:08Traditional medicine pharmacy
15:10Those are some
15:12Former industries from
15:14Textile because indeed
15:16Between petrochemicals
15:18And also textiles
15:20Run to the chemical sector
15:22So there are some things
15:24Actually not recorded
15:26In the name
15:28From the sector
15:30Or KBLI from the chemical sector
15:32Pharmacy
15:34Textiles
15:36Okay, we will discuss later in the next segment

22:16Hi
22:18The important thing is that the product comes from the country.
22:22In my opinion, if we don't provide anti-dumping income,
22:29we don't provide safeguards, there is no empowerment there
22:33with the standards that we should be able to provide,
22:36of course, the competitiveness of the domestic industry
22:42will certainly be difficult to rise.
22:45So, in my opinion, that will have to be done.
22:49Give this domestic market to players in the country.
22:56I think this is a game changer if it's given like that.
23:01But of course, this is quite difficult because we know that
23:07there are many parties who feel that they will be disadvantaged
23:15by the protectionism of the policy.
23:20Okay, well, Mr. Ritma, then, is there still hope,
23:24optimism that may be being built by friends of the TPT industry players
23:28to welcome or face the year 2025 coming?
23:32Yes, we continue to discuss this with the government,
23:38not only with the ministries, but also with the economic team of the President.
23:46So actually, the economic team of the President who immediately reported to the President,
23:51they already understand this problem.
23:53But this problem is not their authority to do the game changer as said by Mr. Henry earlier.
24:03This is in the Ministry of Finance.
24:06So I think our hope is there.
24:10When the President has a point, has a stand, this must be corrected.
24:16Just like Mr. President did the same thing with 3TECH,
24:22even though the results are not yet clear.
24:23But finally, if Mr. President has an order to stop the textile industry,
24:29stop imports, and everything must be followed.
24:32Sometimes these ministries have a lot of reasons.
24:35This, that, there are many who protest, many importers who will not agree.
24:40It's up to the government to decide who to side with.
24:46Whether it's the producers who have been working a lot,
24:50or the importers.
24:52I think the ministries should start taking positions
24:55so that they don't continue to side with the importers.
25:00This is very, very military.
25:02We see that the policy changes are very, very military.
25:08That they are on the side of the importers rather than the producers.
25:11Hmm, okay.
25:12We will wait again, what steps will be taken by the Prabowo government
25:17to adapt to the conditions of the textile industry and textile products in 2025.
25:21Hopefully there will be a precise solution,
25:23as expected from friends who work in the TPT industry.
25:26Okay, Mr. Henry, thank you very much for your presence.
25:29Analysis that has been conveyed to the audience.
25:31Mr. Ritman, thank you also for the latest updates and information
