00:00Hamon is special and expensive.
00:07It's usually only available during Christmas season.
00:11The process of making hamon is long and tedious.
00:15But if you're on a trip to eat it even if it's not Christmas,
00:19Marikina has a yummy alternative.
00:22Their short cut version of hamon
00:24is called
00:29Hamonado.
00:33Compared to hamon, it's sweeter and has more sauce.
00:38And since hamonado has sauce, it's perfect for big servings.
00:48I will teach you how to make pork hamonado.
00:51We will marinate this overnight.
00:55We will add a little bit of salt,
00:58salt,
01:00and then wine.
01:02We will put it upside down.
01:05So that it will be even.
01:07And then ham,
01:09cheese.
01:11We will roll it into a big piece.
01:14We will cut the fat in the middle
01:17so that we can slice it when we cook it.
01:20And then we will tie it at the end
01:23so that the ham and cheese won't come out.
01:28This is a piece of pork.
01:33After we tie the pork hamonado,
01:37we will put it in the pan.
01:42And then we will add pineapple juice,
01:45sugar,
01:47star anise,
01:51and we will wait for it to soften.
01:54We will boil it in low fire for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
02:01We will remove the meat and remove the string.
02:06We will cook it again so that it will soften.
02:12We will add pineapple chunks,
02:16and after a few minutes,
02:18our pork hamonado is ready to serve.
02:23It's like it's soft when you mix it with the sauce.
02:27The sauce is very sweet.
02:31And then,
02:34the ham is very tender.
02:38I like that they added a layer of fat
02:42because fat gives moisture.
02:47For Php 260, you can buy a serving of hamonado that is good for 5 to 8 persons.
03:12Thank you for watching!
