When Narcity's Morgan Leet decided to try out Turo for the first time, she was skeptical that it would be any different than your average car rental service. But it turns out, she was pleasantly surprised. Turo is a peer-to-peer car-sharing company. So basically, think Airbnb but for cars. Narcity took a Jeep Wrangler out for a spin to see how Turo stacks up when it comes to renting a car and offers a review of the world's largest car-sharing marketplace.

00:00I am going to check out the car which is in my driveway right now. So here the car is. It's huge
00:06Which I'm excited about since we're going on a camping trip
00:10Hi everyone
00:11I'm Morgan Leigh with Narcity and today is a really exciting day because I'm gonna try out Truro for the first time. Truro is basically
00:16Like the Airbnb but for car rentals
00:18So they gave me a Jeep Wrangler to try out for the weekend to drive through the mountains of BC
00:23To a campsite where I'm gonna spend the weekend
00:25I'm super excited to rate them on the booking experience the service itself. And of course the car too. Let's go
00:30Okay, so first we're gonna look at the booking experience process. Honestly, the website is really user-friendly
00:35You can look around on the map view of it and see all the cars in your location
00:40They also have the price points there too
00:42So you can filter if you want something less expensive or if you're looking for like a luxury ride
00:47You can do that, too
00:48I thought it was really easy to go through look at the photos all the features of every car
00:53Filtered through them and see what you wanted
00:56Then the booking process itself was easy as well, too
00:58You just like go through you enter your name your license pick the protection plan of insurance that you want
01:04We get the maximum protection just to be a little bit like more secure
01:08The only staffing for us was that as soon as we booked
01:12One pickup truck that we really wanted the host messaged us and told us that he had actually
01:17Planned a camping trip that weekend that he was gonna use it for and he had just forgotten to take it off the site
01:21This doesn't really have to do with Truro
01:23But part of using Truro is interacting with the host so that might be an issue you're running into
01:29The hosts just really have to be on top of their game
01:31So we went with a different car which ended up being great too
01:33But because of that I would rate the booking experience. I'm 9 out of 10
01:37I am going to check out the car which is in my driveway right now
01:41The hosts of this car dropped it off last night for us. It was really seamless process
01:46They just came in handed us the keys and we were good to go
01:49They dropped it off right at our place, which was really nice
01:52Definitely a perk as opposed to a car rental service where you have to go and pick it up. So here the car is it's huge
01:59Which I'm excited about since we're going on a camping trip and there's lots of space for all of our stuff
02:06It's quite big
02:08Now diving into the delivery and service of Truro
02:11I thought this was really great actually because some cars not all hosts offer this but some of them do offer delivery and pickup
02:18It was very seamless to the host. We downloaded the app and we messaged via the app
02:23They came by dropped off the keys to us showed us the car and it was all smooth from there
02:28And then same with the pickup. They just came and picked it up and it was really great
02:31So I would rate that a 10 out of 10 for sure. Last but not least the car itself
02:35We got a Jeep Wrangler, which was really fun because normally we're driving around a kind of like beat-up older Subaru
02:41But really what you're looking for when you rent a car from any car service is that it's like clean and it's working correctly
02:48Our Jeep Wrangler that we rented through Truro did both of those things
02:51So I was really happy in that way, but just like with Airbnb or anything with hosts involved
02:57It depends on the host so to help with this though
03:00You can look at the reviews so Truro has a thing that it's called an all-star host
03:04So you can look for an all-star host to make sure you're gonna get like the best chance of having a seamless interaction
03:10And really good car service as possible
03:13Just like us because it was really fun to be able to do that. The car was awesome
03:17It had like carplay
03:18It had lots of cool perks being able to take the roof off of the Jeep when we were going on a road trip
03:24Through the mountains of BC was just really made for like a really good vibe. It was really cool and very fun
03:29So I would definitely say that the car experience was a 10 out of 10 for us
03:34So I rated Truro based on three criteria the booking experience the service itself and the car
03:39It only fell short when it came to the booking experience and that was because the car we originally wanted actually wasn't available that weekend
03:45And the host had forgotten to take it down from the site. Other than that though. I had a really great experience
03:50I would definitely use it again
03:51It made a lot of sense to me
03:53Why something like Truro was invented even in the first place to have access to all of these cars not have to go through car
03:59Rental services, so definitely recommend it. I would do it again for sure. Let me know what you guys think in the comments
04:06Did you like Truro? Have you used it before? Do you have a good or a bad experience? Whatever it is. I'm Morgan Leet with Narcity
