00:00Hi, I'm Theo and this is People on the Street. Today I'm out in Manchester asking people about Manchester's New Year's resolutions and what they should be.
00:06Because individuals set themselves New Year's resolutions every single year.
00:10I've got a long list for myself that includes sort of cutting down on drinking, the classic sort of fitness stuff,
00:16but also cool things like trying to read as many books as I can and a whole bunch of pretty basic things actually now that I think about it.
00:23We want to know what people's views will be on Manchester's resolutions, whether they want to see more independent businesses,
00:28cheaper housing, more housing or, well, anything really. The imagination really can run free with it.
00:35So let's go out and see what people have to say.
00:37Well, we've literally just moved here last week.
00:40And today we've been walking around trying to find like healthy hangouts.
00:46Because there's so many like venues, bars, restaurants, like that kind of British alcohol culture.
00:54So we've been to like the Climate Centre, the Paddle Places, all that healthy places to try and change the mentality of how we approach Manchester as a city
01:03and not fall into the habit of like, let's just go to the pub.
01:07Yeah, because there is a lot of that here. But we've discovered like really quite a lot of like cool, healthy hangouts.
01:14I mean, in terms of Manchester, I really love the events that happen here.
01:19I think it'd be really nice to see more events that get people in the city centre, kind of enjoying the city centre.
01:25And then the offshoot of that is maybe going to the bars and the shops and everything.
01:29Me and my partner had a really lovely night in Halloween just going around.
01:33And he was drunkenly kind of spotting all the inflatable monsters, which I know is geared more towards children, but we loved it.
01:40On that thing of not drinking, like non-alcoholic bars, like temperance bars, is that something you'd like to see?
01:46Yeah, more of that.
01:48I know around the back of Selfridges and all that, there used to be a lot more kind of events.
01:52And I know there's a lot of music based events, but it'd be really lovely to see more visual art events taking place.
01:58That's just my opinion anyway.
