00:00Some sensitive documents were found to have been hacked by the website of the Office of the President
00:06according to an international media company.
00:09It was not confirmed by the DICT and AFP, but it was said that the country's cyber security continues to be strengthened.
00:16Ivan Mayrina is the witness.
00:21The hackers hacked the website of the Office of the President from 2023 to mid-2024.
00:28According to Bloomberg, an international media company,
00:31some important military documents were hacked here,
00:34including the one on Segalok in the South China Sea,
00:37where the West Philippine Sea is located.
00:39But according to the Department of Information, Communication and Technology of the DICT,
00:43the last hacking where information was hacked happened between 2018 and 2022.
00:49Despite that, there were many attacks against government websites.
00:54We were able to detect them early on.
00:57And when we do so, we are able to secure the database.
01:05What we've seen so far are old data from many years ago that are being re-rejudicated or, you know, re-recycled.
01:19Just to make an impression that we were successful in doing so.
01:26The AFP did not confirm that the hacking was repeated.
01:29But the country's cyber security continues to be strengthened.
01:32According to the President's order, as the Commander-in-Chief,
01:35the Philippine allies are also helping,
01:38including the cyber defense in the various activities.
01:42We have been trying to tweak our organization to the contemporary new challenges.
01:51We are able to detect and we are able to deter these attacks.
01:56Just like what all countries are facing,
01:59hundreds of thousands of cyber attacks on government websites are being hacked and monitored by the DICT every day.
02:06It is expected that this will increase as the election approaches.
02:09What's happening is that there are more fake information or disinformation.
02:16There are attempts at compromising certain infrastructure, like websites.
02:27They are trying to deface some websites or try to introduce malicious software.
02:38For GMA Integrated News, I am Ivan Meirina, your witness.
