00:04Members of the public have backed a crackdown on nuisance drivers and car meets in a Derbyshire
00:08town following 350 complaints in just 18 months.
00:13Erewash Borough Council is to bring in £100 fines for nuisance drivers across the whole
00:17of Ilkeston following a surge in anti-social behaviour logged by police and local residents.
00:23It will ban car cruising events and car meets, with fines for all those spectating or participating
00:29in nuisance revving, driving stunts including donuts, drifting, skidding and handbrake turns
00:34as well as wheel spinning.
00:36Fines will also be issued for convoy driving that obstructs the road, emitting loud noises
00:41such as amplified music or vehicle horns from a local vehicle so as to cause a nuisance
00:46and promoting, publicising or organising car meets or car cruising events.
00:53A unique shop in the Derbyshire Dales which sells collectible ghost figurines is holding
00:58a spooktacular re-opening event this weekend after its first year proved such a success
01:02it had to expand into new premises.
