00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 20 Ungodly Kratos
00:12Kills.
00:20For this list, we'll be looking at the most violent deaths that Kratos has doled out.
00:25These include everyone from gods to titans to mythological creatures.
00:29Which God of War kill did you think was the most brutal?
00:32Let us know in the comments.
00:34Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:39the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:43Heimdall – God of War Ragnarok
00:55As Heimdall spends most of his time on screen threatening Kratos' son, his death was understandably
01:00inevitable.
01:01Kratos goes up against the Norse god, along with the ferocious pet, in Vanaheim.
01:05After taking care of the beast, the God of War takes aim at Heimdall, who assumes his
01:09ability of foresight will save him.
01:10But with a new magical spear in his arsenal, Kratos soon gains the upper hand.
01:23After an intense fight, Kratos slams the god's head into the ground before choking
01:27the life from him.
01:28Maybe the death would have been more vicious in Kratos' earlier days, but watching him
01:32slowly strangle the life from Heimdall and seeing his glowing eyes fade to nothing is
01:37still brutal and cold.
01:45Elephantor-slash-Juggernaut – God of War Ascension
01:55This minigame boss looks like an absolute force to deal with.
01:58It's not so much of a challenge for Kratos, however, and goes down much like his other
02:02enemies.
02:03The Juggernaut tries to ram Kratos and use his mace to deadly effect, only for Kratos'
02:08durability to negate these attacks.
02:10The Ghost of Sparta eventually wears down the beast to bring it to its knees, where
02:14he repeatedly stabs the monster in its skull.
02:21By the end, Kratos has slashed at the creature so intensely that he leaves its brain exposed
02:26before putting it out of its misery.
02:28It shows how monsters of mythology just aren't up to Kratos' level, and he makes them seem
02:32like nothing more than cannon fodder.
02:38Persian King – God of War Chains of Olympus
02:49Underestimating Kratos has a very painful cost, as the Persian King would soon learn.
02:54Kratos finds him laying siege to Attica and confronts him.
02:57Not that this faces the Persian King.
02:59He scoffs at Kratos' threats and initiates a fight.
03:02Although the Persian King is aided by the Efre-Demon, Kratos still manages to cripple
03:07and defeat him.
03:08With no choice left, the Persian King attempts to beg for his life.
03:12But Kratos is in no mood to forgive.
03:20Taking a gold-filled chest, Kratos bashes his adversary's head in until his skull is
03:24crushed.
03:25Ironically, Kratos uses the same chest the Persian King attempted to bargain for his
03:30life with.
03:31So that's what we call a hard-hitting reality check.
03:37Theseus – God of War 2
03:48Theseus stands in Kratos' way by holding the key to the steeds of time.
03:52Kratos initially decides to spare Theseus, but the poor bastard doesn't heed the warning.
03:56Bitter over Kratos' status as the greatest warrior in Greece, Theseus challenges him
04:01to a duel to the death.
04:02He progressively amps up Kratos' rage by fighting dirty, using his minotaur goons rather
04:07than battle one-on-one.
04:08By the time Kratos knocks Theseus down from his perch, he's in no mood to play around
04:13anymore.
04:20Kratos proceeds to jam Theseus' head between the open door and smashes it repeatedly, enough
04:26times to make him regret picking the fight in the first place.
04:33Perseus – God of War 2
04:42Nobody likes a drama queen, especially one as cocky as this.
04:46When Kratos encounters Perseus in a bathhouse, the latter convinces himself this is a test
04:50from the Sisters of Fate.
04:52Perseus foolishly tells Kratos where he's standing, despite using a helmet of invisibility,
04:57enabling Kratos to perceive him.
04:58By the end of the fight, Kratos destroys all of Perseus' weapons and contemplates drowning
05:03his enemy.
05:11Thinking otherwise, he then tosses Perseus straight through the wall onto a hook outside.
05:15Perseus' final moments involve smashing through concrete and painful impalement, but
05:20he did have it coming.
05:22He gets to leave the room he was trapped in, although he's too dead to care by that point.
05:32Balder – God of War
05:42The final boss fight with Balder is one hell of an action-fest.
05:46Kratos and Atreus have to contend with the interference of Freya as she controls the
05:49body of the Frost Giant, Thamur, while also dealing with her vengeful, invulnerable son
05:54Balder until he gets snipped by Atreus' mistletoe arrow.
05:58Now rendered mortal, Balder is subsequently bested.
06:01Still bitter at his mother for causing his condition, Balder attempts to kill Freya,
06:12only for Kratos to take matters into his own hands and break Balder's neck right in front
06:16of his grieving mother.
06:18While his intention may have been to save, there's something stone-cold about how he
06:22claims Balder's life so effortlessly.
06:29Magni – God of War
06:40Unlike previous games, the 2018 soft-reboot isn't as violent because of the change in
06:45Kratos' personality.
06:46Still, pushing him too far brings out his trademark brutality, as Magni would painfully
06:50learn.
06:51He and his brother Modi stalk Kratos and Atreus on Odin's orders, but make the mistake of
06:56underestimating him.
07:03Kratos eventually turns the tide by tapping into his inner rage, overpowering Odin and
07:07he buries his axe deep into Magni's skull.
07:10It may have been a quick death, but the sight of his mutilated body leaves no doubt that
07:14it was anything but pleasant.
07:19Gaia – God of War 3
07:28The climax of God of War 3 is kickstarted by the intervention of Gaia in the clash between
07:32Zeus and Kratos.
07:34The titan's size becomes her disadvantage, as Zeus and Kratos escape through her body
07:38right to her heart.
07:39The father and son continue their battle while destroying Gaia's defenses from the inside.
07:51Kratos ultimately pins Zeus up against Gaia's heart and drives the Blade of Olympus through
07:56both of them.
07:57Even if you're the size of a mountain, there's no coming back from that kind of heart attack.
08:08Prometheus – God of War 2
08:16Burning to death might sound like a horrible prospect, but Prometheus doesn't seem that
08:20bothered by it.
08:21Kratos finds him chained and devoured by an enchanted bird, which he's experienced for
08:26centuries.
08:27Prometheus asks Kratos to put him out of his misery by casting him into the fires of Olympus,
08:31which he ultimately obliges.
08:36Of course, falling into fire was never going to be much fun, and Prometheus is burned to
08:40a crisp as a result.
08:42It's a gnarly way to go, and not exactly an upgrade from being beaked day in and day out.
08:55Hades – God of War 3
09:03The God of the Underworld is understandably pretty sour at Kratos for taking the life
09:07of his wife, Persephone, and so jumps at the chance for revenge.
09:11During the scuffle, Kratos gets his hands on the Hooks of Hades, a weapon powerful enough
09:15to even rip the soul out of its creator.
09:18After being manhandled to hell and back, the weakened Hades is helpless as his soul leaves
09:22his body, killing him as well.
09:30To add insult to injury, the souls of hell plan their own revenge by lashing out at Hades'
09:36corpse, dragging the God of the Underworld to the depths of River Styx.
09:44Pollux and Castor – God of War Ascension
09:52These conjoined twins usurp the Oracle of Delphi's temple and assume they can intimidate
09:56Kratos to leave.
09:58Let the pair learn the ghost of Sparta isn't to be trifled with.
10:01After chasing Pollux and Castor through the temple, Kratos delivers a crushing end to
10:05the pair.
10:06Castor's life is cut short by having Pollux ripped out of his body, leaving the lesser
10:09brother at Kratos' mercy.
10:17Having been severed from the host body, the deformed Pollux is easy pickings for Kratos,
10:22who reduces him to a blood smear at the bottom of his sandals.
10:28Ares – God of War Kratos' original overlord's comeuppance
10:40was well and truly earned, and just as barbaric.
10:44After surviving Ares' attempts to play mind games with his guilty conscience, Kratos goes
10:48toe-to-toe with his predecessor, ultimately claiming victory.
10:51Not one to fall for Ares' plea for mercy, Kratos delivers a chilling one-liner before
10:56driving a colossal sword right through him.
11:02For Kratos, this kill is his most cathartic yet, as he finally gets to avenge his family,
11:07complete with all the blood and explosions you could want.
11:15Kronos – God of War III
11:27No one is safe from Kratos, not even the largest titan of them all.
11:31Blaming Kratos for his incarceration in the Pit of Tartarus, Kronos tries to eat his would-be
11:36grandson.
11:37This backfires big time, as Kratos uses the Blade of Olympus to slice through Kronos'
11:42just the beginning.
11:49From there, he tears up Kronos' nails and rams a crystal spike through his jaw, all
11:54before bringing his blade down right through the giant's skull.
11:57It's a Herculean execution, and one of Kratos' most cinematic murders to date.
12:07King Midas – God of War, Ghost of Sparta
12:16There are times when Kratos' actions are purely reactionary, and others where he's
12:20just downright cruel.
12:21Midas' death happens simply because Kratos sees a way out, and not caring about the torment
12:26it might cause.
12:27After witnessing the king's ability to turn things into gold, he decides to use it for
12:31his own means.
12:32Kratos corners a whimpering Midas, savagely beats him, and then drags him toward the River
12:37of Lava he wants to cross.
12:43As Midas attempts to defend himself, Kratos throws him into the lava waterfall.
12:48This turns the entire stream into solid gold, and allows Kratos to pass, at the expense
12:52of Midas drowning in burning anguish.
13:00Poseidon's Princess – God of War 3
13:09We see Kratos heartlessly sacrifice an innocent soldier to a fiery death in the first game,
13:14but he ups the ante with his brutality in the threequel.
13:17With a crank blocking Kratos' path, he improvises by using an innocent person to hold a heavy
13:22door open.
13:23Poseidon's Princess has to suffer this fate, whose cries of fear fall on deaf ears.
13:30Kratos drags her away from Poseidon's chambers without a care or concern, trapping her between
13:35the crank to make his way past the door.
13:37Her gruesome remains can be seen if Kratos heads back, if you're morbidly curious enough.
13:45Hermes – God of War 3
13:54Hermes makes the mistake of taunting Kratos one too many times, and pays the price.
13:58His mockery over Kratos' speed compared to him gives the latter the idea to target
14:02Hermes' empowered boots.
14:04Giving chase, Kratos manages to outsmart the speedster god before claiming the boots for
14:09himself by slicing off Hermes' feet.
14:17There's a definite sense of sadistic pleasure here, and while Hermes was a king-sized jackass,
14:22seeing his demise cause a widespread plague that ravages Greece purely because Kratos
14:25wanted some fancy new boots seems frighteningly grim.
14:35Poseidon – God of War 3
14:43The god of the sea has the unfortunate task of facing Kratos straight out of the gate.
14:47Wanting to make a statement to the other Olympians, Kratos delivers a no-holds-barred beatdown
14:51that we see from Poseidon's point of view.
14:54It's made clear just how fiendish Kratos is when we witness his Spartan savagery up
14:58close.
15:01Poseidon's attempts to escape are fruitless, and Kratos proceeds to gouge his eyes out
15:06before breaking his neck.
15:07Now that's how you start a divine killing spree.
15:16Zeus – God of War 3
15:25The king of the gods is one stubborn geezer, to the extent that it took all of Kratos'
15:30cunning, strength, and wrath to finish him off.
15:33After impaling him with the blade of Olympus, overcoming his astral world, and about a million
15:37bolts of lightning, Kratos ultimately takes down his daddy with his fists.
15:46Watching from Kratos' perspective, we see him deliver punch after punch, leaving the
15:50screen filled with Zeus' blood.
15:52It's unclear exactly when Zeus breathes his last, given that he's reduced to such a bloody
15:56pulp it blankets the screen crimson.
16:06Hercules – God of War 3
16:18Kratos is surprisingly lenient toward his brother when they meet, and offers to spare
16:22his life.
16:23Alas, Hercules is too jealous of Kratos' achievements to consider this act of mercy,
16:28initiating a godly punch-out.
16:30Systematically foiling Hercules' nefarious tactics in combat, Kratos ends up claiming
16:34his brother's Nemean cestus gauntlets, which he uses to pulverize Hercules' face in.
16:44The final blow crashes through the arena floor, and Kratos' victory assured when he tosses
16:49Hercules' corpse aside, left to rot in the sewers.
16:56Helios – God of War 3
17:06The God of the Sun has the dubious distinction of facing all of Kratos' wrath.
17:11After constantly interfering with Kratos' climb of Mount Olympus, Helios' chariot is
17:15shot down.
17:16The wounded Helios tries to trick Kratos into accepting his allegiance.
17:20After Kratos stomps those attempts out, there's nothing left but for Helios to count his last
17:25moments, before Kratos rips his head right off.
17:31Helios' pain is so great that his head continues to scream even after its dismembered remains
17:39are in Kratos' possession.
17:40This death goes to show that there are no limits to Kratos' brutality once he's made
17:44up his mind to snuff out a life.
