00:00I'm here to ask you to give us Claire. We need her blood.
00:04Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most
00:08glaring, head-scratching, and downright nonsensical plot holes in TV series.
00:20Spoilers to come.
00:22Number 10. Unlimited Gas – The Walking Dead
00:25Zombie apocalypses are world-ending in many ways.
00:30This acclaimed series does a good job showing the realistic effects of such a fallout in
00:38compelling ways. However, it does cheat in at least one respect. Characters travel all
00:44over the Atlanta, Georgia region without seeming to worry about gas for their cars,
00:49or even how easily gas can degrade.
00:51Where did you get the gasoline?
00:56Come again?
01:00It doesn't matter.
01:04Only in season 9 do we find out that some characters have been making their own
01:08ethanol via dead corn crops. Better late than never, but it does beg a question.
01:13Were bicycles really not an option?
01:15Maybe we can find some bikes. Bikes don't burn.
01:21Number 9. Livia's House – The Sopranos
01:24Yes, even this show has its fair share of plot holes. But we find one hole in particular
01:29the most glaring.
01:30He sold a house.
01:32They don't people have names anymore. Who's he?
01:35Anthony. He sold my house.
01:38While Livia is living in a retirement community, she finds out that Tony has decided to sell her
01:43home. Tony initially tells the retirement home staff member that his mother's house went into
01:48escrow, but he ends the conversation asking Livia be told that,
01:52Just, uh, tell her her house sold and they accepted the kind of offer.
01:57This leads a bitter Livia to attempt to enact revenge on her son. But in the first episode of
02:03season 2, Tony tells his sister Janice that he just put her house on the market.
02:07Then I'll take her home to Seattle. Maybe stay at her house here temporarily.
02:11Oh, I doubt that. I just put her house on the market.
02:15Oh.
02:16In the end, Tony ends up keeping the house after all. It's a strange retcon,
02:20or perhaps a continuity error, and yet it's still one of the many enduring
02:24mysteries of this seminal series.
02:27Number 8. Chandler and Rachel forget they met each other. Friends.
02:32Everyone, this is Chandler, my roommate and lead singer of our band.
02:38You'd think for a show about a bunch of friends called Friends,
02:42we'd know how everyone became friends. Okay, that's the last time we'll say friends.
02:47In the pilot episode of the series, Rachel makes her grand entrance into Central Perk,
02:51reuniting with her former bestie Monica after having run out on her wedding.
02:55Rachel? Oh god, Monica, hi! Thank god! I just went to your building and you weren't there,
03:01and then this guy with a big hammer said that you might be here, and you are! You are!
03:05Monica introduces her to her crew, including Chandler, Ross's long-time friend,
03:10who we later learn has met Rachel many times before the events of the first episode.
03:15So why don't they recognize one another? Perhaps the writers hadn't figured out
03:19everyone's backstories quite yet, and later hoped that we wouldn't notice.
03:23Rachel! Rachel! What? You missed the exit. Oh, sorry.
03:33Number 7. J.D. and Turk's meeting story kept changing. Scrubs.
03:39The close relationship between these friends is the heart of many touching
03:42and hilarious moments in the show. But how did these bros first meet?
03:46J.D., look at me. You are a dork. Not all the time.
03:52Every second since the moment I met you.
03:54In season two, we see J.D. dorkily introducing himself to Turk while entering the room.
03:59But in season four, a different flashback altogether shows Turk showing up to what's
04:04seemingly J.D.'s dorm with a still-dorky J.D. reciprocating.
04:09Yo, they call me Chris One. What's the dealio? Welcome to our lair!
04:13I'm an eighth-level ogre magi with invisibility, and this is Randall.
04:18This can't be the case of two entirely different perspectives, like what J.D. thinks and what Turk
04:22says about what happened between Turk and J.D.'s girlfriend Stacey. Either one or the other
04:27happened. At least these two kept the bromance going, though.
04:31See, J.D., the thing that I always liked about you was that you were just yourself.
04:34Never cared about what people thought. And that's why you hung out with me?
04:39No, you had a car. Still do.
04:41Number 6. When did Marion's death happen? Pretty Little Liars.
04:46Fans of this mystery teen drama have always been confused about when
04:49and how exactly Marion Cavanaugh died.
04:52It hasn't been that long since your mom died. It was a year ago last week.
04:58The story goes that Toby was still a kid when it happened. However, in season four,
05:02we're treated to a flashback of her son Toby and Allison as teenagers about to lock lips.
05:08In that scene, Marion was clearly still alive. But in season six, it's discovered that Bethany
05:13Young killed Marion, framing a young Cece Drake for the murderer.
05:17Oh my God. Bethany, what did you do?
05:23What did I do? You pushed her. Freak!
05:28On top of that, Cece is over six years older than Allison, so the timeline doesn't add up.
05:33Considering that season four concerned Toby investigating his mother's death,
05:38this appears to be a grave oversight.
05:40Doesn't make any difference. The woman's dead.
05:42If it doesn't make any difference, then why would
05:44Wilden change the facts when he filed the report? Why would he lie?
05:47Why does anybody lie?
05:50Number 5. Dan Being Gossip Girl Makes Little Sense. Gossip Girl.
05:55The identity of this mysterious gossip blogger had been hotly theorized by fans
05:59throughout the show's run. Unfortunately, the long-awaited reveal was highly disappointing.
06:04That gave me the idea. If I wasn't born into this world, maybe I could write myself into it.
06:12Dan Humphrey being Gossip Girl does suit his outsider-type character.
06:16In-universe, however, the revelation has many holes and begs many questions.
06:21For one thing, he always seemed surprised by Gossip Girl's blasts,
06:25even when he was alone without an audience.
06:28Why is it that friends of Serena Vanderwoodson have to search for her suitor?
06:32Have fables fallen so out of fashion that princesses have to do everything themselves?
06:36For another, his sister Jenny had been cruelly targeted by Gossip Girl before.
06:41It would have been out of character for Dan to slander her,
06:44considering his protectiveness towards her.
06:46And since when do you start reading Gossip Girl blasts anyway?
06:48Since you became the subject of them.
06:50You're 15 years old and I'm your big brother. It is my business.
06:53All in all, it's a very confusing choice.
06:56Number 4. The employees were surprised they were filmed even though they talked to the camera.
07:02The Office.
07:03The mockumentary aspect of this iconic sitcom still holds up,
07:06at least better than similar shows who tried their hand at it.
07:10But when it becomes time for the employees at Dunder Mifflin to get to watch this years-long
07:14project, it becomes an instant controversy.
07:17I didn't know they were filming then!
07:19Looks like the cameraman was hiding behind the shelves.
07:22Wait, so they were filming all the time even when we didn't know it?
07:26Why? They obviously knew there were cameras there in the first place.
07:29We suppose with the way this bunch carried on that perhaps they just forgot about them
07:33after a while, and or they just didn't realize how much of the last years of
07:37their lives would be captured on film.
07:39We need to know more. Did their shots have sound? What exactly did they get on tape?
07:43I sneezed into my hands without using Purell and then dipped into the candy jar.
07:47Did they film that?
07:48Also, the reason why the documentary was being made in the first place was never clear.
07:52The show's writer stated it was due to an employee's death,
07:55but that too doesn't really make sense overall.
07:58Tom? He worked in a county up until about a year ago.
08:03Tom.
08:07Oh, that guy. That guy was weird.
08:09Some mysteries are better left as such.
08:12Number 3.
08:13Claire's healing powers are inconsistent.
08:15Heroes.
08:16This superhero drama had some plot holes, especially the origins of Claire's powers,
08:22which are a little unclear.
08:23We're told in the pilot episode that Claire's self-healing prowess manifested in adolescence.
08:29This is Claire Bennet. That was attempt number six.
08:33Later on in the season, however, Claire reunites with her biological mother,
08:37who tells her she thought that her daughter had died in the fire.
08:40Claire both tells and shows Meredith that she believes she survived
08:44thanks to her healing abilities.
08:46I need you to see.
08:48See what?
08:51I think I know how I survived that fire.
08:54However, if Claire's powers had already manifested when she was a baby,
08:58then why did they seemingly become dormant only to reemerge later during puberty?
09:02We're not even going to touch on Claire's healing blood.
09:08Number 2.
09:14Bellic is clearly innocent.
09:16Prison Break.
09:17There are many, many plot holes and inconsistencies in this crime drama.
09:22Perhaps the most egregious is Brad Bellic being framed and then arrested for the murder of Roy Geary.
09:28I don't care what you were doing.
09:30I just need to know where you were doing it and who you might have crossed paths with so
09:33I can find out who carved up Mr. Geary.
09:35The captain's violent voicemail clearly made it easy for Teabag to set him up,
09:39but the fact still stands that Bellic was at the hospital during the time of the murder.
09:43It would have been a very easy thing to prove,
09:45so there was no way Bellic should have been convicted.
09:48Were the police that incompetent?
09:49Did no one give Bellic a decent lawyer?
09:52It's frustrating, all right.
09:53When we found the receipt, Brad,
09:55it was in Geary's hand, his finger pointing to your name.
09:57With his last ounce of strength, he told us you killed him.
10:00Okay, listen.

10:171. Everything – Riverdale
10:20Okay, so perhaps this isn't a show that you'd expect good continuity from,
10:24or even particularly strong writing.
10:26Riverdale seems to almost pride itself on its pulpy surrealism and nonsensical plotlines.
10:32And why was my doppelganger clutching one when he died?
10:35For that matter, how did I even have a doppelganger?
10:38Hoping to find sane answers to these impossible questions, I sat down and began to read.
10:43Still, we must recount some of the ways in which this series had all our brains melting.
10:48For one, there is the teenaged Jughead becoming the king of the dangerous gang of criminals
10:53known as the Southside Serpents, with Cheryl joining in.
10:56My boy has never stopped fighting for this crew.
11:00Hell, he almost died for it.
11:03That's why I'm giving you the mantle.
11:05There are countless discrepancies regarding the ages of the characters.
11:09And then there's that time the characters find themselves in an alternate universe
11:13with the town now known as Rivervale.
11:16The name of this place is Rivervale.
11:20And though it might seem familiar to you,
11:23like a town you visited before, I can assure you it is not that same town.
11:27This everything-but-the-kitchen-sink storyline
11:29had even its fans scratching their heads to make sense of it all.
11:33But alas, it was all in vain.
11:35Which other TV series had you tripping over its many plot holes?
11:39Let us know in the comments.
11:40I had nothing to do with Gary's death.
11:42Hear what I'm saying?
11:43I'm the victim here.
11:45Do you agree with our picks?
