00:37Hello, welcome from the south, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Televisual Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:49We begin with the news.
01:02On January 10th, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was sworn in by the National Assembly
01:07for his third constitutional term.
01:09Our special envoy Junio Soner has details of what happened yesterday.
01:14January 10th finally came and turned into a people's party on the streets of Caracas.
01:19Early in the morning, people started gathering downtown and minutes before 11 a.m., Nicolás
01:25Maduro was sworn in as Venezuela's president for a new mandate.
01:30Before this great National Assembly, legislative power of the Republic, before visitors and
01:37delegates from 125 countries, before the people of Venezuela, I swear by Huaycaipuro
01:44and indigenous peoples, I swear by Pedro Camejo, El Negro Primero, and José Leonardo Chirinos,
01:52I swear by Bolívar, by Izucre, by Urdaneta, by Manuela Sáenz, I swear by the eternal
02:00memory of our beloved Chief and Commander, Hugo Chávez, and I swear by the historic,
02:07noble and brave people of Venezuela, before this Constitution, that I will comply with
02:13all its mandates, that I will comply with all the obligations of the Constitution and
02:19the laws of the Republic, and that this new presidential term will be the term of peace,
02:25prosperity, equality and the new democracy.
02:29I swear by history, I swear by my life, and so I will comply, and we will comply, I swear.
02:39I swear by history, I swear by my life, and so I will comply, and we will comply, I swear.
02:47Outside the National Assembly, the people followed the inauguration ceremony and the
02:51presidential speech.
02:52Workers, women and the youth joined the celebrations for a new chapter of the revolutionary process.
02:59Today we gather here, this group as you can see, early in the morning.
03:03Men, women, everyday working men, common people from the streets who have come to accompany
03:08our President Nicolás Maduro today.
03:11A worker president that dignifies, with the laws on one hand and the worker's heart in his hands.
03:18Newly inaugurated President Nicolás Maduro highlighted that this was an inauguration
03:22for and with the people.
03:25The people in return consider his election as their own victory.
03:29This days in Caracas we have lived a peace, a tranquility, and the enthusiasm, the participation
03:35of the Venezuelan people that came out to the streets to say, they won't come back.
03:40Here, Nicolás Maduro Moros will be sworn in.
03:43And we need to send out into the world the image that the Venezuelan people backs our
03:47President Nicolás Maduro Moros.
03:50And today is the best day to do that.
03:53The unity between President and the people culminated in taking the oath together in
03:58front of the Presidential Palace Miraflores in late afternoon.
04:02And I swear to defend the right of my homeland, to peace, and to the future.
04:14With President Maduro's third term, Venezuela's Bolivarian revolution enters a new stage,
04:19one that promises to strengthen the people's power and sovereignty.
04:24In parallel to the ceremony of President Nicolás Maduro on Friday, June 10th, the city is also
04:32hosting the International Anti-Fascist Festival.
04:36We are going live with Yunus Soner in Caracas for more details on this festival which ends
04:40today.
04:41Hello Yunus, what can you tell us?
04:48Hello, good morning from here, from Caracas, the Carlota Convention Center, where the World
04:55Festival of the Anti-Fascist International has gathered for its third day.
05:01More than 2,000 delegates from all over the five continents of the world have come together
05:08here to present, to prepare a joint struggle against global fascism.
05:14And they will have a tight working day here in the Carlota Convention Center.
05:20It will start with three different simultaneously place-taking reunions.
05:26The first will be a congress, an international congress of intellectuals, artists, and social
05:33movements that will discuss how to move forward in this struggle against global fascism.
05:38The second reunion will be that of the social movements within ALBA.
05:43They will gather separately.
05:45And the third will be also a meeting in the context of ALBA.
05:49The ALBA cultural working group will convene here in the Carlota Convention Center.
05:55The day then continues with a speech expected to be held by Diosdado Cabella, who is the
06:01Venezuelan Minister of Interior, Justice, and Peace.
06:05And his speech has a much-telling title.
06:08His title is The People's Bolivarian Diplomacy, a Sword Against Global Fascism.
06:15After that, there will be a lunch break.
06:18And then the day continues with the closing plenary session of this World Festival of
06:24the Anti-Fascist International, with concrete steps to be taken ahead.
06:30A plan of action for the year 2025 will be presented at this plenary session, the closing
06:37session, and approved probably by the delegates, by the more than 2,000 delegates that are
06:44taking part here at this day.
06:46So we are facing a huge, a tight schedule, a lot of work lies ahead.
06:52But we are also expecting at the end of the day to have some concrete results and decisions
06:58taken by this World Festival of the Anti-Fascist International taking place here in Carlota
07:05Convention Center in Caracas, Venezuela.
07:08Juniors, I have a quick question.
07:11You have been there for this past couple of days.
07:14What is the take of the people, of all these over 2,000 delegates taking part in this festival?
07:19What is their take on how this kind of festival can improve the struggle against fascism,
07:23as many have said that Venezuela has become the capital, we could say, of the struggle
07:27against fascism around the world?
07:31Well, that is something first we have to emphasize.
07:39All of the delegates that we spoke to yesterday and the day before, and these were like approximately
07:4520 different delegates from 20 different countries, European countries, Asian countries, also
07:51some African countries, they emphasized that Venezuela has taken a lead in this global
07:58struggle against fascism, which is also reflected in the fact that an executive secretary has
08:04already been established inside this Anti-Fascist International here in Caracas.
08:09And this secretary, this executive secretary will organize, coordinate further the joint
08:16global struggle against fascism.
08:21It is an anti-fascist gathering, so it fights against fascism, obviously.
08:26And there were also some concrete decisions taken the day before yesterday.
08:30Yesterday was more overshadowed by the inauguration of President Maduro's third term.
08:37But the day before, they have already decided to establish new communicational networks,
08:42for instance, better coordination between intellectuals fighting against fascism globally
08:49from different countries, better coordination of joint work, also specifically in what is
08:59called the social networks, like those we can say hegemonic networks that actually belong
09:06to some certain rich people, I don't need to name them, in the United States.
09:11So there will be also a joint action in these networks, which are still being followed by
09:17millions of people all over the world.
09:19So there is two things going on here, basically.
09:22One, the ideological clarification of positions, the better coordination politically.
09:31And the second thing is a better coordination towards more joint action with all these movements,
09:39with all these political parties, social movements and delegates coming from all over the world
09:45here to Caracas, Venezuela, to pursue joint action concretely.
09:51And we expect this to be reflected, as I mentioned before, in the 2025 Plan of Action that will
09:57be presented today to the delegates at the end of the day.
10:02Thank you, Junius.
10:03We'll stay in contact for upcoming news brief to have the latest in what is happening this
10:07last day of the International Anti-Fascist Festival.
10:10Let's now take a short break, but first we invite you to follow our special program dedicated
10:15to the Presidential Inauguration of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, only on TELESUR
10:20at 9 p.m. local time in Caracas and 8 p.m. New York, Havana and Quito.
10:28Stay with us.
10:45Welcome back.
10:56In Palestine, Israeli occupation forces killed at least 32 civilians and injured 193 others
11:01across Gaza in the past 48 hours.
11:04Spokesperson for Gaza Civil Defense said that Israel aims to kill as many civilians and
11:08medical personnel as it can as it continues its devastating war.
11:13In this context, three Israeli military infantry battalions will be sent to reinforce troop
11:18numbers in the north of the occupied West Bank.
11:20Deployment comes amid calls for the annexation of the Palestinian territory by far-right
11:25members of the government.
11:27Israel's genocide in Gaza has killed at least 46,537 Palestinians and wounded 109,571 since
11:35October 7, 2023, mostly women and children.
11:43Concerning the death of these Palestinian journalists who was murdered while working
11:47to show the world the reality of the Israeli war against the population of the Gaza Strip,
11:52Palestinian Journalists Union called on the international community and world organizations
11:56to put pressure on Israel to stop its aggression in the coastal enclave.
12:01Moreover, they reiterated their commitment to continue reporting the truth and exposing
12:05the crimes of the occupation.
12:07According to the government media office in the Gaza Strip, some 203 journalists have
12:12been killed by Israel since October 7, 2023.
12:20This is a known policy used by the Israeli occupation.
12:23It, Israel, cannot rest as long as Palestinian journalists continue to expose its crimes
12:29to the world.
12:31We, as journalists, are demanding the protection that is supposed to be a guaranteed.
12:41We wear a press vest, yet we still find no protection or an environment conducive for
12:45us to do our job.
12:49We are being directly targeted, as it was the case with Said and many other colleagues
12:53who were martyred over the past 15 months of this Israeli war.
13:01Also in Palestine, a body was recovered after Israeli shelling in the town of Kousa, east
13:05of Hanjounis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
13:07Moreover, several bodies have disappeared as a result of melting due to the amount of
13:11explosive fire by the Israeli army.
13:14In the first nine days of 2025, Israeli forces killed an estimated 490 Palestinians.
13:24The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Democratic Republic of the
13:28Congo warned about the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in North Kibu, with
13:33more than 100,000 people displaced in only two weeks.
13:36The agency expressed its deep concern at the scale of displacement in that province due
13:40to fighting between the March 23 movement, rebels and the armed forces.
13:45The Coordination Office for the Condemn Violence against Civilians and Humanitarian Workers
13:50reiterated that under no circumstances should critical civilian infrastructure that provides
13:54essential services to the population be attacked.
13:57In this regard, it added that all parties to the conflict must respect international
14:02humanitarian law and human rights while calling to work for an immediate de-escalation of
14:06hostilities.
14:14In Kenya, three people, including two motorcycle riders, died when they were hit by a plane
14:18during an emergency landing on the coastal road between Malindi and Mombasa.
14:23The sub-county police commander reported that the three victims included a motorcycle rider
14:27who died when the plane caught fire.
14:29The other two victims, a biker and a passenger, were killed when they were hit by debris from
14:34the plane.
14:35It was learned that the crew members, the pilot and two students, were treated for injuries
14:40sustained after jumping from the plane.
14:42The authorities are investigating the causes of the incident.
14:47We were on our way to Malindi when we saw the plane crash.
15:04The wing hit a woman who was on a bike and severed her head.
15:08The plane then caught fire and the pilots jumped out and have been taken to hospital
15:12while alive.
15:15That is all I saw.
15:19This crashed plane is not a commercial plane, so we can say it is an accident that has happened
15:24because any accident can happen anywhere.
15:27Even if it is not next to the airport, any accident still can happen.
15:32But what I am saying is that safety precautions have to be taken along the airport, especially
15:37on this road which is next to the airport.
15:40We have our second short break coming up but before we invite you to visit our YouTube
15:44channel at Telesport English, there you will be able to re-watch our interviews, top stories,
15:48special broadcastings and more.

16:15Welcome back.
16:16In the United States, volunteers set up a pop-up community donation center in Pasadena
16:20to provide water, food, clothing and essential supplies to those affected by the Eaton fire
16:25that erupted on Tuesday.
16:26The initiative started on Wednesday when a small group of volunteers began distributing
16:31hot dogs to firefighters, and thanks to social media, it quickly evolved into a full-scale
16:35donation effort.
16:36Los Angeles is being ravaged by five different big blazes, the largest, the Palisades fire,
16:42the northwest of the nation's second most populous city, has consumed 86 square kilometers.
16:47The second, at 56 square kilometers, is the Eaton fire in Altadena, authorities say the
16:53fires are 8% and 3% contained, respectively.
16:57The three most smaller blazes have been partly contained.
17:00To date, at least 11 people are known to have died.
17:06It's been a running stream on social media.
17:08We're just letting everybody know where we're at.
17:10We're taking donations, any types, there's anything from kids supplies, pet supplies,
17:16food, anything you could think of that we could help you with.
17:19There was a lady here offering housing for people that have lost homes.
17:23We had about 20 beds last night taken.
17:27We're just trying to help in any way possible in a hard time like this.
17:30So I'm here to provide aid to those who have lost so much.
17:36My wife recently passed away, and I had some good belongings of hers that I felt that other
17:44people could really benefit from.
17:46So I drove from Compton here to drop them off, and as you can see, many people are taking
17:55advantage of it, and I just wanted to make sure it went for a good cause.
17:59A U.S. state official urged President Joe Biden to stop sending funds to Ukraine and
18:08instead to allocate them to those affected by the fires in the state of California.
18:12Texas Governor Greg Abbott described the situation in California as tragic and deplorable, and
18:17called on President Biden to devote efforts to help the people affected by the fires instead
18:21of sacrificing the United States for the welfare of other nations.
18:24Biden responded by stating that his administration is coordinating efforts with President-elect
18:28Donald Trump's team to deal with this devastating situation.
18:31The fire has been active since January 7th, and to date has left 11 dead and more than
18:368,626 hectares consumed.
18:43In South Korea, thousands gathered Saturday in rival demonstrations in the capital as
18:47investigators prepare another attempt to arrest impeached President Jun Suk-yeo over his short-lived
18:53martial law decree.
18:54The rallies take place despite freezing temperatures in Seoul after the president resisted arrest
18:59last week.
19:00Jun faces criminal charges of insurrection for ordering the seizure of the National Parliament
19:04on December 3rd, 2024, to unsuccessfully prevent deputies from voting against the martial law
19:10promoted by the executive.
19:12The court set January 14th as the date for the beginning of the trial of the head of
19:16state, which would take place even in his absence and from which he could be sentenced
19:21to prison or even death.
19:28In Germany on Saturday, in the eastern town of Riesa, police forcibly removed protesters
19:32blocking a street near the far-right alternative for Germany party, Congress Venue.
19:37The meeting was delayed at least by an hour as thousands of protesters prevented delegates
19:41from reaching the venue.
19:43At the two-day meeting, ahead of a snap general election next February 23rd, the party's 600-plus
19:48delegates are expected to approve a manifesto and to formally nominate their leader, Alice
19:52Weidel, as candidate for chancellor.
19:55The draft version of the manifesto includes an exit from the European Union and a tough
20:00immigration policy.
20:02Congress comes days after Weidel was promoted by U.S. tech billionaire Elon Musk in a livestream
20:07on his ex-social media platform.
20:14We are here today to prevent the AFD national party conference here in Riesa.
20:19For us, the AFD stands for exclusion, for discriminatory behavior, for hatred and agitation.
20:25We want to show very clearly that we are the majority, that we are in favor of open borders,
20:30for a society based on solidarity.
20:32Like this, we have come to the end of this news brief.
