00:46Hello welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Televisual Studios in Havana,
00:50Cuba.
00:51We begin with the news.
01:10In Palestine, nine people were killed early this morning by new Israeli airstrikes on
01:14various areas of the Gaza Strip.
01:17Rescue teams recovered the bodies of nine victims, including children, and pulled out
01:20several injured from the rubble of a house belonging to the al-Nami family in the al-Maghazi
01:26refugee camp in central Gaza.
01:28The victims were transferred to al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the nearby city of Deir al-Bala.
01:33In addition, medical teams from the Palestinian Red Crescent evacuated several wounded to
01:37Nasser Hospital in Hanounis in the southern Gaza Strip.
01:41These injuries resulted from artillery shelling and gunfire that targeted the tents of displaced
01:46families in the Mawassi area of Rafa, in the southern part of the Strip.
01:54The World Health Organization denounced that the last health care center in northern Gaza
01:58was put out of service after an Israeli attack.
02:02The UN body pointed out that several floors were burned and destroyed after the Israeli
02:07strike.
02:08In this sense, WHO authorities assert that the systematic dismantling of hospitals in
02:12Gaza constitutes a death sentence for tens of thousands of Palestinians in need of medical
02:18assistance.
02:19The organization also warned that 60 health care workers and 25 patients are in critical
02:24health condition while the wounded were forced to evacuate the hospital.
02:33Continue to call on all parties to comply with their obligation to respect and protect
02:38in all circumstances medical personnel and medical units including hospitals and health
02:43facilities.
02:44Kamal Adwan is one of the last, if not the last, hospitals that was operating in this
02:52part of Gaza.
02:55Sick and injured children are going into this hospital, were going into this hospital to
03:00get treatment.
03:03Sick and injured men, women were also going there with medical personnel risking their
03:08lives in some cases to continue to provide services to people who really need it.
03:13And this is why we continue to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
03:18We continue to call for the protection of all medical facilities in Gaza.
03:25The Israeli forces committed two massacres against Palestinian families in the Gaza Strip
03:29in the last 24 hours, killing at least 48 civilians.
03:34The Israeli attack left another 52 people wounded, while emergency teams are having
03:38difficulties in reaching and rescuing victims trapped under rubble as the occupation continues
03:43to obstruct the movement of ambulances.
03:46Health authorities warned that the death toll would likely increase.
03:49Since October 7, 2023, occupation forces have killed 45,484 people and injured 108,090 others
04:00most of them women and children.
04:06And in Yemen, Sana'a International Airport resumed operations one day after an airstrike
04:11by the Israeli occupation forces.
04:13That Thursday, the Saudi army stated in a communique that it attacked infrastructure
04:17used by the Iranian-backed Yemenis at the airport of Sana'a and the seaports of Hodeidah,
04:23al-Salih and Ras Kantib.
04:25According to the Yemeni health ministry, the recent Israeli bombings at the airport killed
04:29three people and wounded 30 others, while at the port of Al-Hodeidah, three people were
04:35killed and 10 others were wounded.
04:37The airport's director-general Khaled Al-Shaif stressed that on previous occasions, the site
04:41had been besieged by Israeli attacks, and emphasized that operational staff are prepared
04:45to repair damage and find alternatives.
04:54There are alternatives to operate flights and maintain the operational availability
04:59of the airport.
05:01This is not the first time the airport has been attacked and we are ready around the
05:06clock to operate the terminal.
05:09Repair the damage and find alternatives.
05:13And in South Sudan, thousands of people that had been forced to flee their homes in western
05:17Equatorial State following weeks of violence in the town of Tambura and its surrounding
05:21areas returned.
05:23The United Nations mission in South Sudan said that COM had returned to the area following
05:28the violence which saw many of those displaced taking shelter near a temporary UN base.
05:34Meanwhile, authorities prepared a plan of action to control violence and the action

06:11in Senegal, especially the French military apparatus.

06:20a recurring approximately 350.
06:26And in the United States, data showed that the number of homeless people rose to more
06:30than 771,000, the highest in the history of the country.
06:34In a statement, the Department of Housing and Urban Development said the number of homeless
06:38people in families with children rose to 259,473, this year a 39% increase.
06:46The document also highlighted that the increase in homelessness is due to factors such as
06:50the lack of affordable housing, inflation, stagnant wage growth.
06:54In addition, the Department of Housing and Urban Development stressed that the health
06:57crisis and natural disasters have also had a negative impact on the situation.

12:38In Argentina, Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo announced the discovery of the grandson number 138 after

12:56of Marta Enriqueta Purteo and Juan Carlos Villamayor, detained and disappeared during
13:02the civil military regime from 1976 to 1983.
13:07She also pointed out that Purteo and Villamayor were militants of the Montoneros organization
13:13and were abducted on December 10, 1976, from their home, when she was nine months pregnant.
13:19Carlotto also denounced that the denial of the crimes against humanity perpetrated during
13:25the dictatorship.
13:35Although late, with this finding, this crime is over.
13:41We have repudiated these crimes.
13:43That is why we call to continue to do so and we want to all those people and donor institutions
13:52and state agencies that accompanied us during this 2024 to continue sustaining the search.
14:01Today we celebrate having found the grandson number 138 and we ask for the continuation
14:10of the work of the National Secretary of Human Rights, an essential tool for the defense
14:17of these unfortunate events.
14:19In Argentina, also members of social organizations gathered on Friday to protest massive layoffs
14:24in the country's Human Rights Secretariat.

15:02In a not too distant time, everyone will be impacted by the dismantling that the government
15:07is doing of each one of the public policies, and I tell you this.
15:12And I am going to put it in the example of the National Commission for the Right to Identity,
15:17which is part of the layoffs that the Secretary of Human Rights Alberto Baños is making.
15:23Without the work of the Commission for the Right to Identity, today we would not have

15:47needs in order not to starve.
15:49On December 26, the government issued a decrease in the minimum living and mobile wage at the
15:54equivalent of $206.832 by March 2025, the lowest in the last 20 years.

16:12of the state.

17:32In an earlier private screening on March 22, 1895, August and Louis Lumiere projected what
17:38is often considered the first film in history called The Exit from the Factory, 38 seconds
17:44long.
