00:00Hello, my name is Amber Allitt and I'm a journalist specialising in education.
00:05Members of the National Education Union, who teach at 32 sixth form colleges across England,
00:11from Preston to Brighton, have announced new strike dates for January and February 2025.
00:18It's the latest in an ongoing dispute, which has already led to previous strike days in
00:22November and December.
00:24The union says that they are striking to protest a two-tier pay system for this academic year.
00:30Teachers in sixth form colleges that have become academies are set to get an extra 5.5% pay rise,
00:37but those who work in other state-funded colleges will only get a 3.5% increase.
00:42Dozens of schools are set to be impacted by the strikes, so here are the dates that parents
00:47at affected schools will need to know.
00:50The first day of action is set to take place on Wednesday 29 January, followed by two more
00:56on Thursday 6 February and Friday 7 February.
01:00If your child's school is among them, don't panic.
01:03The school should be in touch to let you know more.
