00:00The National Irrigation Administration has expanded the projects that were completed last year.

00:07They expect that in 2025, there will be an increase in rice, electricity supply, and the construction of high dams

00:15so that water can be used every time there is a drought.

00:19This is Joshua Garcia's report.

00:22More rice for the security of food and a stable supply of electricity.

00:27This is what the National Irrigation Administration expects this year,

00:31along with their accomplishments in 2024.

00:33According to NIA Administrator Engineer Eduardo Guillen,

00:36only 20,000 hectares of land are being watered last year.

00:41But in 2024, they have accumulated 70,000 hectares for their turnover of irrigated lands

00:47with the help of digitalization and the new use of the agency.

00:51I created a Regional Irrigation Master Plan.

00:54And with that, we found out that there are still 920,000 hectares that can be irrigated on top of the 3.2 million.

01:04We also have individual solar pump irrigations that have artificial intelligence.

01:11NIA has short-term, medium-term, and long-term projects.

01:18NIA has also increased the number of projects like the Malmar Project,

01:24Pasukin-Sulvec Dam, and other multi-purpose dams that were completed almost a decade before the implementation.

01:29NIA expects that in 2025, aside from the supply of rice, the supply of electricity will also increase.

01:36Because they will create a new irrigation system using water from the dams,

01:41the Ministry of Agriculture and other government agencies are happy.

01:44NIA also plans to build high dams to store more water every time there is a drought.

01:51Meanwhile, according to Engineer Dillon,

01:53President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. is sincere in promising a better future for farmers in the country.

02:00Our farmers are hoping for more help, sustainable help for them.

02:06Because that's what our President wants, the empowerment of our farmers.

02:10That's the ultimate thing we want to achieve, to empower them so that they can stand on their own two feet.
