Newcastle United transfer latest as Miguel Almiron, Lloyd Kelly and Odysseas Vlachodimos linked with moves elsewhere.

00:00Well hello everyone and welcome to Newcastle World HQ where as you can see over my shoulder there
00:06St James's Park dominates the skyline in this city and we're very fortunate to have some
00:11iconic views here at as I say Newcastle World Towers over my left hand shoulder there as well
00:18lower down can't show you unfortunately but North London Street is there
00:22behind the camera, Tyne Bridge so we're blessed with many many iconic views of this city but
00:28yeah here to talk about Newcastle United, St James's Park in the background gives you a little
00:32bit of a little bit of colour and yeah the talking points from Newcastle this week as
00:38say transfers we've been over the Bournemouth defeat there's no need to go over that again
00:44and it's full focus on Southampton now but yeah transfers is the one that seemed to develop a
00:48little bit this weekend when I say transfers I mean outgoings unfortunately in terms of incomings
00:53and Newcastle are no further forward that sounds like they will keep their powder dry
00:57until the summer and so no new incomings this month as we as our city are now as it stands
01:03that is the case of course that could change and there's still 10 or so days left of the
01:08transfer window a bit longer and that transfer window doesn't actually close until I believe
01:12it's February the 3rd so Newcastle have still got time and things can change very quickly but
01:17as we sit here now it doesn't sound like Newcastle are going to be doing any business at all in
01:22terms of incomings but outgoings are very much active and of course there's been a few this week
01:27to discuss which we will discuss on this video now and the big one or the or the main one and
01:32the one that's closest to happening is Miguel Almiron's return to Atlanta and six years he's
01:38spent on Tyneside since he joined him from the MLS side back in January 2019 and reported 21
01:44million pounder club record at the time for Newcastle I think to our knowledge it was a
01:49little bit less than 21 million pound but still one of the books is a club record fee
01:54surpassing that make a loan fee 16 million pound and it was 2006 to make a loan deal and of course
02:02and Almiron club record fee has been broken twice since then with Joe Linton 40 million pound
02:09and Iceland of course arriving for 63 million pound a large fee but a bargain but yeah we're
02:16not getting to Isaac on this video we thought we'll stick behind with transfers and yeah Almiron
02:21albeit the deal hasn't quite been agreed yet is edging close and is expected to be
02:27wrapped up within us here probably the probably the next week and Miguel Almiron a player that
02:32has been involved in so many iconic moments during his six years at St James's Park
02:37I mean you only have to go back to last season when of course that PSG night Almiron becoming
02:44the first player since Alan Shearer to score in the Champions League and opening the scoring
02:49in that PSG game of course so a player that has been involved in many many iconic moments
02:54the PSG being the main one for me and of course he's had his his purple patches in that Champions
03:00League qualification season when he scored and I think there's about six or seven goals between
03:07October and November and unplayable at the time and there was a big reason why Newcastle went on
03:12to get Champions League football that season but I think as maybe in the last 12 months falling down
03:18the pecking order at St James's Park and there was a chance for Almiron to go to Saudi Arabia and
03:2412 months ago now Saudi Pro League side Al Shabaab who will be mentioned again later on this video
03:30and like the sign a couple of Newcastle's players this January transfer window but yeah the deal
03:34was on the table for him to go to Al Shabaab but the player himself knocked it back and the summer
03:40came along and there was talk of talks over another MLS club Charlotte SEA again the deal
03:46couldn't be agreed financially with Newcastle the player stuck about but by sticking about hasn't
03:51played much football at all and it's two Premier League starts since March and not many at all this
03:56season I say only one this season against Chelsea where there's been a couple of starts in the cup
04:01but Almiron for being sort of central to Eddie Howe's plans during that Champions League qualification
04:06season and probably the first six months into the into last season and has fallen way down the
04:11pecking order and Jacob Murphy has established himself as a as the first choice right forward
04:17and then even this season as well we've seen Anthony Gordon trialled in that position and Harvey
04:22Barnes has came off the bench and played down that side as well so yeah he's been a player that's
04:26definitely been phased out by Eddie Howe he's always maintained that he's a he's an important
04:31member of the squad and I think his work ethic and behaviour behind the scenes can't be knocked
04:37and Eddie Howe has always spoken really really highly of her and just a really really likeable
04:41player always got a smile on his face and can't imagine never being destructive always gives his
04:46all you can say that albeit he might lack quality at times or has for Newcastle United
04:50has always given his all always worked hard so I think on that one Mick Almiron does eventually
04:56he will go with everyone's blessing and everyone should look back sort of fondly on Almiron's time
05:03at Newcastle as I say if you want to epitomise what Newcastle United fans want then look you
05:10might not have all the quality in the world but you give you give everything and Almiron has
05:14certainly done that within his six years I think in an ideal world Eddie Howe won't want to lose
05:18Mick Almiron because he is light of options in attack obviously Callum Wilson is out injured
05:25and won't be back until February Harvey Barnes as well as out for a month so losing Almiron
05:32leaves Newcastle light of options but ultimately it's one of those and this is what PSR does it
05:36forces clubs to make financial decisions rather than football decisions and the reported fee
05:41for Almiron is around 10 million pound which I think is a great bit of business for players
05:46again that isn't currently in the in the picture at Newcastle but yeah it it sounds like that is
05:54again albeit it's not done yet it's very very close and you can expect to see that
05:59see it wrapped up maybe and well definitely for the next seven days which frees up what gives
06:07fun is Eddie Howe's squad but as I say I don't think that money will be spent in this window
06:12it will be looking towards more of the summer months when Newcastle will hopefully
06:19be active in the transfer window because the last three transfer windows have been
06:25disappointing for fans but it goes down it goes back to primarily profitability and sustainability
06:31rules I'm sick of talking about it you're probably sick of hearing about it but that's exactly why
06:36so you had St James's Park is your background before now reverted back to the house
06:41got a door there and you've a little darts board there if I moved my head
06:45as well so apologies it's not quite the same scenic background but still the conversation continues
06:50about Newcastle United transfer exits and the second player I want to talk about is Lloyd Kelly
06:56over the last week or so being linked with Fenerbahce and Juventus and the Fenerbahce
07:02interest came before the win over Wolves and last Wednesday now Fenerbahce's vice president
07:10very very vocal in the Turkish media was quoted saying that they want to sign Lloyd Kelly want to
07:15do a deal with Newcastle United and a bid was launched it was swiftly rejected by Newcastle
07:22and they haven't returned with a bid or an improved bid since they've since focused their
07:28attention on signing Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos of course a player that was linked with
07:33Newcastle during Eddie Howe's first January transfer window in charge and he's agreed to
07:39go to Fenerbahce so that deal is nearly done therefore ends the interest in Lloyd Kelly
07:46but once that interest had died down Juventus emerged reportedly saying that Juventus want to
07:51do a deal and where that be on loan an obligation to buy potentially a fee and but the word we're
07:57getting back is is that Newcastle are under absolutely no pressure to say to sell Lloyd Kelly
08:03only sign him in the summer he's still got five or four and a half years left on his contract
08:10and Eddie Howe is still keen to work with the player he made it clear in his press comments
08:15ahead of the and the Bournemouth defeat on on Saturday that you know the reports surrounding
08:22Fenerbahce in particular was all club driven and he still sees Lloyd Kelly's future here he's
08:27looking forward to working with him there's understanding that and because he's just joined
08:31essentially he needs to work hard to get in the team because of course you've had Dan Byrne who's
08:35had an excellent season and Fabian Scheer on the other side as well and obviously Sven Botmans came
08:40back into the fold and Lewis Hall's shine at left back Matt Toggart's return so like he's got a lot
08:46of competition there but you maybe look at that and go well actually there's the scope to maybe
08:52lose like Kelly or at least cash in and that may happen Newcastle may do that but it would have to
08:58take an offer that they simply can't refuse and as I say they signed him for free in the summer
09:02and it would have to be a bid that they have to seriously consider and what that is I don't know
09:09what Newcastle consider as an acceptable bid I would suspect my personal view would probably be
09:13up by to 15 million pound and but I say that's just my own personal view and if you vent this
09:19um or serious about saying Lloyd Kelly then they have to take an offer that Newcastle deem is so
09:25deem is acceptable and that as we record this video hasn't arrived yet so as it stands Lloyd
09:31Kelly will remain a Newcastle United player despite all the noises so let's wait and see
09:35what happens in his future. Moving on, interesting blink this week, Odysseys Blackademos to Al Shabaab
09:45and I made the joke that you know with Al Shabaab targeting Martin Dubravka first which of course
09:52Martin Dubravka had an offer from the table and Al Shabaab he's actually expected to go at one
09:56point and but of course his form and his running the team of 10 games he's played since Nick
10:03Bobe's injury in early December, nine wins, six clean sheets, only seven goals conceded,
10:10Newcastle simply didn't want to lose him and it made no sense to lose him really he's out of
10:15contract at the end of the season so as I say that offer was there for Al Shabaab to go this month
10:20it looked like at one stage he would but that's no longer going to happen there's an agreement
10:24between Newcastle and Martin Dubravka that he will stay and it's not a new contract as such
10:30as well I understand it's more of an improved term so Martin Dubravka as I understand again
10:35will still be out of contract at the end of the season but has been rewarded with improved terms
10:39because he's a great to stay until the end of the season so Al Shabaab knocked back from Martin
10:44Dubravka another Newcastle United goalkeeper Odysseys Vatademos and it was reported by
10:50Fabrizio Romano that Odysseys Vatademos had turned down an offer from Al Shabaab and yeah that was it
10:58so made the joke of Al Shabaab targeting Mark Gillespie and John Ruddy so we'll wait and see
11:04maybe maybe they'll go further down Newcastle United's goalkeeping line but of course I doubt
11:09that but Odysseys Vatademos yeah again an interesting situation with him I feel like if
11:14there was an offer there and Newcastle would be willing to let him go because up mean he was used
11:18as a as a pawn in the in a PSR game and Newcastle only end up signing the the Greek goalkeeper
11:24because it meant that they could sell Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest of course PSR so
11:30and 35 million for Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest and then in a separate deal Newcastle paid
11:3420 million a reported 20 million for Odysseys Vatademos so they hadn't have agreed to sign
11:39Vatademos and Newcastle wouldn't have been able to get rid of Elliot Anderson they would have
11:42breached Premier League profitability and standard rules and end up the points deduction so that's
11:47why Odysseys Vatademos arrived at the club and a tough situation for him because he hasn't played
11:53and been on the bench a couple of times he's made one appearance 45 minutes against
11:56AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup and that's because Martin Dabravka came off injured in the
12:01first half with with an injury but as I say he's rarely seen any minutes he's been on the bench
12:05whilst Nick Pope has been injured and Martin Dabravka can go but it's quite clear he's down
12:10the pecking order at Newcastle they would have to take an injury to Martin Dabravka and the injury
12:14of Nick Pope to have Odysseys Vatademos in the team he might not any other opportunity given
12:18minutes against Bromley in the FA Cup didn't that Martin Dabravka was was still in the team
12:23and anyhow probably felt Martin Dabravka still needs minutes because of course he's played the
12:29concert he won a games but before that he only made one appearance and again it was 45 minutes
12:33against Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup so yeah that's the three major transfer links this week
12:42Alan Rohn I think will go at some point I will definitely go at some point Lloyd Kelly if I had
12:49to stick my neck on the line I would say Lloyd Kelly at this stage and things can change very
12:53quickly will be more likely to stay and go and Odysseys Vatademos won't be going to Al Shabaab
13:00there may be other offers and he may decide to go but again as it as I understand he will likely
13:06stay put as well so a lot of noise in the transfer front I appreciate it is not the
13:11incomings that you all want to hear of again I don't think that'll happen this month unfortunately
13:17but it might be a an interesting end of the transfer window in terms of exits we'll wait and see
