00:00The Department of Education approved their accomplishments in 2024
00:05along with the support of other solutions and programs in 2025.
00:10This is Isaiah Mirafuentes' report.
00:16In the first, the Department of Education Secretary, Sani Angara
00:19shared their accomplishments for 2024
00:24along with their plans for 2025.
00:28According to the Department of Education,
00:30P100,000 are benefiting from their expanded career progression.
00:36President Ferdinand R. Marquez, Jr. also ordered
00:39a salary standardization
00:41where the annual salary of teachers increased by P40,000.
00:46Angara also praised their efforts to strengthen access to education
00:51or what they call alternative learning system
00:54for those who want to return to education.
00:56Currently, the Department of Education is pursuing a public and private partnership
01:00for the construction of more than 100,000 classrooms
01:03across the country
01:05within the term of President R. Marquez, Jr.
01:08where the goal is to close the gap or the backlog
01:12in the lack of classrooms.
01:14The Department of Education gave a full 20,000 SRI
01:19for the first time
01:20to more than 900,000 teaching and non-teaching personnel.
01:24For the first time in the history of the Department of Education
01:28under President Marquez,
01:29the Department of Education gave a full 20,000 SRI
01:32to over 900,000 employees of the Department of Education,
01:34not only teachers, but non-teaching personnel.
01:37They are very happy.
01:38According to Angara,
01:39the IRR is pursuing an anti-bullying law
01:44to be more effective in monitoring incidents of bullying
01:48so that more concrete policies will be implemented
01:52for the schools up to now.
01:54The problem is under the Licensure Act,
01:58a guidance counselor must have a master's degree.
02:00Since that law or requirement was passed,
02:03thousands of guidance counseling positions were vacated.
02:09We have over 4,400 vacancies.
02:11And the problem is,
02:13no one is getting guidance counseling in college.
02:15With the help of the Department of Education
02:17and President Marquez, Jr.,
02:19their plans this year are to solve
02:22not only the classroom gap,
02:23but also the issue of digitalization,
02:26which they will serve as a foundation for students,
02:30where the Department of Education is pursuing
02:32a computerization program
02:34so that the Department of Education can work together
02:37in digitalization,
02:38which is also one of President Marquez, Jr.'s mandates.
02:41Angara also argued that despite the huge increase
02:44in the budget of the Department of Education,
02:46they will continue to provide
02:48the needs of the country in terms of education.
02:52The President does this to all agencies.
02:55He knows that there are many projects
02:57that have been approved by various agencies.
02:59And for us,
03:00two items have been approved there.
03:02Or three, actually, rather.
03:04First is the DepEd computerization.
03:07Almost P10 billion was approved there.
03:09In the hiring of new teachers,
03:11there was an approval of over P1 billion.
03:14Then in the classroom construction,
03:15we know that our classroom deficit is huge.
03:18We lack in classrooms.
03:20We were overpriced by over P1 billion.
03:22Around P1.5 billion as well.
03:24So the discussion is,
03:26how can this be remedied?
03:28And we looked for a solution
03:31from our beloved President.
03:32Meanwhile,
03:33Angara also announced
03:34that the return of students to school
03:37in the coming June this year
03:40is on track.
03:41for Pambansang TV in the new Philippines.
