00:00Joseph's Riverside Bar and Restaurant is a casual dining restaurant located right along the banks of the River Weir in the heart of Durham City.
00:08We do a variety of different classic British menu dishes with an Asian twist.
00:14We're really excited to be taking part in Restaurant Week. It reminds people that we're not just a hotel, we're open for locals to give our restaurant a try.
00:22So we're looking forward to welcoming a lot of local guests into our restaurant this week.
00:26So we've got a fixed price menu available so people can choose any main course across our menu and includes a glass of wine.
00:32So it's a great opportunity for people to try something that they might not try before.
00:35We're undergoing a big refurbishment at the moment having just spent £3 million upgrading our ground floor and our exciting new bedrooms launch this week as well.
00:43Our restaurant's a really great atmosphere. It's right along the banks of the River Weir, very close to the absolute centre of Durham.
00:50So it's a great opportunity to come and enjoy a nice casual meal, a stroll along the river afterwards and enjoy great views of the Cathedral as well.
00:57You can find FIG along Elvett Bridge. It's brand new to Durham so this will be their first time taking part in Durham Restaurant Week.
01:05So FIG is a tasting menu that changes every three to four weeks.
01:10It's a concept tasting menu so we can base it around a place in the world, a popular movie, anything, just have fun with it.
01:18Which reflects the atmosphere and the vibe of the restaurant. It's very relaxed, very casual, very personal environment and service style.
01:26For restaurant week we'll follow our Scandinavian themed menu which is called Bok Bok Bok after the Swedish chef.
01:34It's an amazing opportunity for the local population to try our menus at reduced price Tuesday to Thursday.
01:42So we typically charge a certain price for the menu on an evening but we've reduced the price to reduce the options.
01:50So it opens us up to everybody hopefully to come and give us a try and see what we're about and then hopefully give them a push to come back and try us again.
