00:00An UMNO leader has described the party as a venomous snake, not a fly in the unity government,

00:07as claimed by former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

00:10UMNO Supreme Council member Puat Zarkashi said Mahathir had forgotten that he once tried

00:15to reduce UMNO to a fly and even sought to destroy it to make way for Bersatu.

00:20However, Puat said it was Mahathir who ultimately became a fly after being ousted from Bersatu

00:27following accusations that he made the party subservient to DAP while leading the previous

00:31Pakatan Harapan government.

00:33He added that such claims followed Bersatu's heavy defeat in the Tanjung Piyai by-election

00:38in November 2019.

00:41Puat said Mahathir had to fly from one place to another to find a new home, referring to

00:46Mahathir launching pejuang after being sacked from Bersatu then leaving pejuang to join

00:50Gerakan Tanah Air.

00:52Yesterday, Mahathir had referred to UMNO's representatives in the government as flies,

00:57citing a comment made by DAP leader Ngak Kormeng about UMNO Youth Chief Dr Akmal Saleh.

01:03In 2020, then Bersatu Supreme Council member Wan Saiful Wan Jan clarified that Mahathir,

01:08Mukhris Mahathir, Syed Sadiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Mazli Malik and Amiruddin Hamzah were not

01:14sacked from Bersatu but had their party membership automatically nullified.
