00:00The campaign period for the midterm elections has begun.
00:03That's why Comaleg has ranked their offland baklas,
00:07where on the left and right are the posters of the baklas
00:10that were joined by the forces of the government agencies.
00:14This is Denise Osorio of PTV Manila for Panbansa Live.
00:18Nayomi, the baklas of the Commission on Elections, or Comaleg,
00:33are the banned campaign materials here in Manila
00:37since earlier this morning.
00:40Nayomi, because the baklas campaign is nationwide,
00:44Comaleg has joined forces with the Philippine National Police.
00:48Department of Public Works and Highways,
00:50Department of Environment and Natural Resources,
00:53and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
00:56PPC-RV, NAMFREL, and LENTE are also included.
01:00According to Comaleg Chairperson George Erwin Garcia,
01:03they will not stop even if the simple posters are spread
01:08that are not environmentally friendly
01:10or do not comply with Comaleg Resolution 1111
01:14because it is harmful to our environment.
01:17And even if the size of the posters of the campaign is correct,
01:21it is still removed because the materials are dangerous
01:24or it is not protected in the right places.
01:28Almost 20 tons of garbage is collected every day,
01:34especially the illegally posted materials.
01:37The private properties will also be avoided by Comaleg.
01:40We will not be able to remove those private properties
01:43because it is protected by the right of the owner of the property.
01:52Geethi Garcia deliberately accompanied the launch of Operation Baklas
01:56on the first day of the campaign period
01:59to show our authorities to the candidates
02:03that they are not being consented.
02:07The simple posters do not follow the candidates.
02:10How much more the big requirements of the Commission
02:13if we will be like this?
02:18The confiscated campaigns for Fernalia
02:20will not be burned, thrown away or disposed of
02:24because it needs to be counted.
02:27On May 11, they will start dissolving or recycling these.
02:32Comaleg also added that no fine will be imposed on regulation offenders
02:37but they can be charged with election offense.
02:40And if they are still persistent in not obeying
02:43after being given an official notice or warning,
02:45the so-called candidate may be disqualified
02:49or jailed for one to six years.
02:52Now, they are not yet starting the removal or recycling
02:56of the campaign materials that are prohibited
02:59for local electoral candidates.
03:02And they will do it at the same time
03:04at the start of their campaign on March 28.
03:08Comaleg also added that
03:10they will not do it every day.
03:13But they will continue to monitor
03:16and continue to remove these
03:20until May 10.
03:22That is their last day of campaign period, May 10.
03:27So, it should be May 11.
03:29Those should be gone.
03:30That is the latest news from Manila.
03:33From PTV Manila, Denise Osorio for Balitang Pambansa.
03:37Thank you very much, Denise Osorio of PTV.
