00:00It was actually an accident that I was able to find these shuttlecocks and I felt like they have chosen me to represent them.
00:08It's kind of weird to think that these things, these small things, it's like they have found their master to represent them.
00:18So I'm happy.
00:19Hi, I'm Dexter Modesto. I'm with GoldChoose hashtag Pinoy.
00:22I started using shuttlecock year 2016.
00:25That was when I was starting to play badminton.
00:28And also that was the time when I was struggling about my life.
00:33I sympathize with this shuttlecock.
00:35It feels weird to think about that.
00:37But I think the shuttlecock, they need also to be recognized.
00:40As for myself, I think I have to find myself.
00:44In myself, I'm always an artist.
00:46Within my blood, I know.
00:47But when I came here in Dubai, I feel like I had to do something.
00:51It's a way of expressing your emotions.
00:53It's a way to escape stress.
00:55It's a way to escape from another world to another world.
00:58I feel like I have escaped the world in a few hours, in a few minutes, or in a day.
01:02Days of endless artworks, endless painting.
01:05I have already created like 40 artworks, 40 pieces.
01:10My most favorite one, they're all my favorites.
01:13But you would say one of my favorites is the one that I gave to Ms. Pia works.
01:17It's a heart-shaped artwork.
01:21The challenging part of preparing these kind of artworks is actually the cutting part.
01:28You have to cut the shuttlecock.
01:30Each part, you have to separate the feathers.
01:34From feathers to this, what I call, skeleton.
01:36I have to separate each so that if I'm going to paste it, it will be continuously.
01:41The designs are actually, I'm proud.
01:43I would say they are all original.
01:45They are all in my head.
01:46It depends on my feelings.
01:48It depends if I'm sad, if I'm happy.
01:50On the emotions, I feel like I'm a very accomplished person as an artist.
01:54Because I was able to give justice to these shuttlecocks.
01:58I was there to pick them up again, to give them life,
02:01and to be able to inform people or inspire people that,
02:05hey, there's always something that you can make out of some rubbish materials like shuttlecock.
02:11I'm like this stuff.
02:12I feel like sometimes I'm rubbish.
02:14I feel like I don't know my importance.
02:16I don't know my purpose.
02:17Now that I have done with them, I realize I'm trying to inspire people now.
02:21So that is, I think, my purpose, to inspire people.
02:23No one has ever thought that these shuttlecocks can be turned into these magnificent artworks.
