00:06Just before a couple of hours, Dubai traffic court sentenced the Omani bus driver to seven
00:12years in jail for causing death of 17 passengers and injuring 13 others.
00:19The accident which happened last month, which caused the death of the passenger, it will
00:24happen near Rashidiyah metro station when the 53-year-old Omani bus driver crashed the
00:31height barrier near the metro station.
00:35He was charged with wrongly causing death for the passengers.
00:38And today, Dubai traffic court found him guilty, sentenced him to seven years in jail and 50,000
00:47dirhams fine beside 3.4 million dirhams in a blood money fine to the families of the victims.
00:56His license also was suspended for one year and he need also to pay 50,000 dirhams fine.
01:03It is the toughest punishment for the driver which Dubai traffic prosecution asked for it.
01:11Dr. Salah Boufarouche Al-Filassi, head of Dubai traffic prosecution, told Gulf News
01:18that the charges against the driver, it's happened after the deadly accident and the
01:28traffic prosecution asked for the toughest punishment because of the circumstances of
01:34the accident.
01:36Al-Filassi said that justice is served and that they are going to coordinate with the
01:46insurance company to pay the blood money for the families of the victims.
01:55Salah Boufarouche, he said that the accident, when it happened, this road was actually ten
02:05years without casualties.
02:08So this area, specific area of the road, it has enough sign boards and warning hazards
