00:00Civitavecchia is central, not only geographically, compared to the Italian peninsula, it is the port of Rome, it is the most important cruise port in the country,
00:13from where tens of thousands of cruisers pass, indeed I would say millions, who go to visit the capital and get an idea of Italy when they go down to Civitavecchia.
00:24This means that we need a modern port, to re-qualify entire areas, to have the possibility of harmoniously managing the urban fabric around and the development of the port.
00:37It means investments, it means re-qualification, it also means environmental re-qualification, as we are doing today with Cold Ironing,
00:44which is being launched this morning, the site is in fact being opened, it will close in 2026, it will be finished by the end of 2026, it will be operational,
00:53they present nine attractions for cruise ships, for a value of 80 million euros, which will also change the environmental quality of the air around Civitavecchia,
01:03because today the ships are forced to keep the engines on, tomorrow this will no longer happen.
01:08What is the future? The future is also the conversion of the Enel plant, but possibly also by producing clean energy within the port.
01:15We need the ports to be able to manage their own energy capacity, we need better environmental quality, to keep it occupied and to enhance it.
01:26The national port system is a great asset for us to invest in, also because the development of Civitavecchia strongly conditions the industrial and commercial development of all the regions around it,
01:39not only of Lazio, but also of much of Tuscany and other regions.
01:45It is evident that talking about an Italian system without talking about Civitavecchia is not possible,
01:52and on the other hand Civitavecchia should not feel isolated, but it is part of a great system, of a great project, which is the relaunch of the Italian system on the subject of ports and maritime.
