00:00We welcome you to our number two live right here on this Thursday morning on the early line on sports grid
00:06All across the space Grizz network. That is DRS Donny right side
00:10I am Ben Stevens still two more hours to go here on TEL a lot of National Football League
00:17Conversation in this second hour even with a guy Donny who did not watch the Super Bowl now
00:24You weren't here last week, but you didn't hear from marks
00:26You know two weeks ago that his intentions were not to watch Super Bowl 59 why he is on the show today beats me
00:34Outside of giving an update on the animated movie that he saw on Sunday night
00:40But we'll make sure to grill marks, you know with many of our questions
00:44We will also update the odds as we enter all-star weekend in the NBA
00:49How's the MVP race looking right now?
00:51Is there anything still up for grabs in the stretch run of this season after the all-star break?
00:57How about college basketball?
00:59What's the word of the ward odds looking like at this moment as we near the month of March as well?
01:05A lot to break down here in this second hour on the early line
01:10Yeah
01:10Let's take everything is wrapped up in the awards category other than somebody getting injured and somebody sort of taking the mantle at that point
01:17So a big hour coming up questions need to be answered about certain NFL topics who's coming back?
01:23Who's a good coach? Who's not a good coach? Oh, that's what all we will
01:27Yes, we certainly will Donny. It's the offseason, but the NFL doesn't slow down
01:32headlines news notes everything you need to know including
01:36Travis Kelsey's football future on his podcast with his brother Jason the new Heights podcast Travis
01:42Kelsey was asked about his time
01:44Reflecting on what this offseason is going to hold after the hunt for history for the Chiefs comes up short in Super Bowl
01:5359 now all Super Bowl week in New Orleans as the chase for history continued
01:58Travis Kelsey was telling everybody who would listen. Listen, I still got a lot of football days ahead of me. I'm coming back
02:04I'm feeling good
02:06Yesterday on the podcast that was released a slightly different tune quote
02:10I know everybody wants to know whether I'm playing next year and right now. I'm just kicking everything down the road
02:16I'm kicking every can I can down the road? I'm not making any
02:22Decisions so Travis Kelsey Donnie will take his time to decide his NFL future ultimately to begin
02:292025 do you think Travis Kelsey is out there for Kansas City? I
02:33Always said no at this point like I don't know was worse his suit that he wore to the stadium or his actual
02:38Performance in the football game, you know in the Super Bowl where they got absolutely hammered understand this like it's very emotional after a game ends
02:45I don't know if I could do this again, then you sort of get the juices slowing
02:47Oh the next couple weeks, but he's not a young football player. He has a ton of money
02:52He's going to make more money when he retires
02:54Who wants to go through another long season when you already just won the two Super Bowls?
02:58You couldn't get to the third so you don't want to go out with a loss
03:02But you think there's a better opportunity next year for you to win even though you have to make it through the football season healthy
03:07For me if I'm Travis Kelsey, I am the best tight in the history of football multiple Super Bowl championships tons of money in my pocket
03:14Go be healthy and happy in the offseason and right off into the sunset
03:18You don't need to come back anymore to prove anything to anybody
03:22Yeah, it is interesting DRS because you want to go out on your own terms
03:26You can see those stats and the career accolades right there for Travis Kelsey 12 years all in Kansas City
03:34He has been a pro bowler each of the previous 10 years prior to 2023 in 2024
03:40He was on one form of the AP first or second team all pro around the NFL for six
03:48straight
03:49Seasons he in my estimation Rob Gronkowski probably would argue otherwise
03:53But Travis Kelsey is the best tight end ever to do it in the NFL
03:57if not the best one of the three or five best ever to lace it up and
04:03Donnie he hasn't been an all pro
04:06Necessarily the last couple of years, but he's still been incredibly productive
04:09Even this season considered to be a down year for Kelsey still by far Patrick Mahomes is top target
04:17133 targets throughout the regular season
04:20Nobody else on the Chiefs had at least a hundred targets throughout the regular year
04:25So Travis Kelsey is still productive and prolific for this KC team. Is he what he once was?
04:32No, but he's 35 years old. We'll see what he decides with his football future and Donnie
04:38It's not just are his best playing days behind him. But as you alluded to he's rich. He's famous
04:44He's known for many extracurricular activities outside of the NFL gridiron that of course all a part of the conversation. I'm sure
04:53exactly, and that's what you have to weigh like am I playing for my family like I maybe have done in 1982 like I got a
04:59You know sell cars in the offseason
05:01I better get one more season out of playing football where I can make some money
05:04He has enough to retire at this point, but also understand this like you are looking at not life expectancy
05:10But quality of life once you retire from the game like NFL players that play 15 16 years and take a beating
05:15They don't really get around too. Well in their 40s and 50s, let alone 60s and 70s. He's healthy right now
05:21I can get away without a catastrophic injury. He's got tons of money and also still being around the football games
05:26Invigorates these guys if he wanted to he could be on Amazon Prime or he can go out there and be on
05:31Netflix or NBC or Fox or and be a part of those game day crews just to get those still competitive juices flowing
05:36You see a lot of players do very well at that point and make a ton like Tom Brady retired
05:40He's in 30 million dollars or forget about endorsements 30 million dollars a year just to call one game a week in the booth here
05:46That's something you have to look forward to now and embrace it and Travis Kelsey is even during his playing days a media
05:54Personality as you revealed on his podcast Travis Kelsey's girlfriend, of course is Taylor Swift
06:00She was at the Superdome on Sunday night when she was shown on the jumbotron
06:05She was ruthlessly booed Saquon Barkley not having any part of that not
06:11Understanding why Taylor Swift was booed. Maybe that's Saquon Barkley back it up a former Eagles fan in Taylor Swift
06:20Yeah, and again, I
06:22sort of take the players out of the equation, but anybody who understands how football works and fandom works if
06:28Taylor Swift was dating Cooper Dejean for the past year and at the Super Bowl rooting for the Eagles the Eagles fans would have lifted
06:34The plate the dome the roof off of the dome here in
06:37Appreciation that Taylor Swift was in the building the fact that she is an active Chiefs fan
06:42Appearing all the time with Travis Kelsey. That's why she got booed. It's a mouth like we don't like your music
06:48Anybody in there that was an Eagles fan that was showed on the screen was getting wildly cheered any Chiefs fan little kid
06:54grandmom mother
06:56Chiefs player we're getting booed out of the stadium because that's what happens when you have home field advantage with your fan base had nothing
07:02To do it. I don't understand whether but yes, they're pulling up because he's a Chiefs fan
07:05That's why she was getting booed. No more story behind it
07:09Drs our producer Joe Friso is calling bull. You know what on that?
07:14He is saying no doesn't want any part of that doesn't believe the Eagles fans would have been nice to Taylor Swift if she became
07:21The story also, why does she have to date Cooper Dejean?
07:24about Quinon Mitchell
07:27It's true. How about who else is on that team? I will read blanking ship. How about that?
07:31How about you know the big one here? How about you have the punter long snapper field goal?
07:35Hey, I mean, come on, Jake Elliott show him some love out of here. Come on
07:39That's a balls and honestly more superstars should be into the special teams guys like the drinker and certainly a punter
07:48Come on now you're just now you're just going crazy out there good for sake while Barkley standing up for Taylor Swift
07:54We'll get to the second headline in that football headline list up next and Donnie might have some thoughts on this one
08:00Jermaine Pratt one of the Bengals defensive captains on the team's leading tackler
08:06Requesting a trade from Cincinnati again an uneasy offseason ahead for the Bengals because of an ownership group
08:14Led by Mike Brown not even an ownership group, but because of the owner Mike Brown
08:18Failing to open up the wallet and pay his superstars
08:22Now the Pittsburgh Pirates slash Miami Marlins of the NFL gonna strike again. It's unbelievable
08:28I feel bad too because you Cincinnati you deserve so much better as a fan base
08:33If you had a real owner here, you probably have multiple Super Bowl championships
08:37You know
08:37They have multiple wins at managing the salary cap and make more money than they actually should at this point instead of putting out a better
08:44product
08:48Live right here on the early line on sports grid
08:51We continue our football headlines and then we'll talk some MVP award odds not in the National Football League
08:57But in the NBA as we enter all-star
09:00Weekend DRS as we shared right before the break Jermaine Pratt since he's leading tackler this year one of their defensive
09:07Leaders has requested a trade from the Bengals. We looked at the Super Bowl 60 odds
09:13We saw a ton of movement for the Bengals in a 24-hour span
09:1824 to 1
09:1918 to 1 six dollars shaved off the price fourth best number around the AFC
09:25Behind only the trio of the Chiefs the Ravens and the Bills but Donnie we've had our questions about those numbers
09:33Because if everybody is there and fully healthy
09:36Oh, yeah
09:37the Bengals provide a great boost of value but we don't know who is going to be there if
09:43Anybody outside of Joe Burrow is really going to be back next year tomorrow chase under contract
09:48But he needs his offseason extension entering his fifth year in the NFL
09:52He absolutely does and also the one interesting thing about T Higgins is we we think he's as good as gone and rightfully
09:58So it's gonna get top dollar on an open market
10:00but he also has which I think one of the worst agents in the history of the NFL that even allowed him to play under
10:05a contract last year when every single person in his spot got paid big-time money to go back to their team and he played under
10:11That franchise tag risking injury now granted you can get a Lloyd's of London policy and all that stuff goes into it
10:17But I can't even believe that he showed up let alone for any parts of training camp or this season playing under that tag
10:23But also get this when you have Mike Brown as an owner and you just saw it one of their better players
10:27Which the defense was bad and preco. I want to be traded. I don't like it here
10:31The Bengals are the type of franchise that goes. Well, we're small market free agents
10:34Don't want to come here because we really don't want to pay all that much money
10:37But if you have our own players in an upheaval and we trade one of them that's gonna start at avalanche in our locker room
10:42So just like Mike Brown and going against all of his fans wishes is like, you know what?
10:46It's better off that we just sit this guy down and he not play and I don't have to pay him
10:51Even if it hurts our chances to win on the field
10:54I can't have a mutiny in my locker room as opposed to most NFL owners go
10:58You know what fans love us fans want to win fans want to pay their money to come see us and I want to give
11:03Them a good product if you would have told me Mike Brown's
11:06Okay, one of the better owners in the NFL you would have Jamar Chase already signed Burroughs signed
11:10You'd already have T Hagan signed you'd have Trey Hendricks
11:13Think about the guys that he's fighting with like Joe Burroughs got his money because the quarterback has to get his right
11:17But Jamar Chase is one of the best wide receivers in the game
11:21He should be reaching out saying I know it's gonna cost me a lot of money
11:24Let's get this done sooner than later T Hagan's your homegrown. You love it here
11:27You want to play you love Joe Burroughs the fans love you sign him and also Trey Hendrickson leading the NFL and sacks
11:33Okay, buddy. I want a new contract. I deserve more you signed a contract
11:37You own up to it and you better like it or would just sit you down what a terrible run franchise
11:42It's a shame that Bengals fans have to put up with this win
11:45They could be on the cusp of a dynasty, but Mike Brown's a dynasty. I'd rather make more money. Let everybody go
11:51They should be on the cusp of a dynasty
11:53They should be a perennial contender and now Joe Burroughs health is stood in the way of that and an atrocious defense this past year
12:01But if you signed everybody and you built around the margins for that roster this Bengals team
12:07I would bet my money on them right now
12:09But I can't because I am not sure who is going to be there next season despite that 18 to 1 price that grows shorter
12:16by the day
12:17For Cincinnati. All right DRS that last football headline
12:21Matt Patricia hired by Ohio State as the Buckeyes new defensive coordinator
12:28Of course Matt Patricia probably most well-known
12:31Not for being a two-time Super Bowl champion DC and six years in New England under Bill Belichick
12:37But three years as the Lions head coach where he went 13 and 29 and was fired after 11 games in the 2020 NFL
12:46Season and then as a defensive assistant two years ago for Philadelphia who just had one of the best statistical defensive years and performances
12:54We've ever seen in a Super Bowl was led by Patricia down the homestretch a year ago when the wheels
13:01Fell off. How do you feel about this hire in the name and familiar face?
13:06That is Patricia now heading to the college ranks in Columbus
13:10You would figure like with Ohio State you probably got your pick of anybody that you want who is available, right?
13:16It's an interesting hire because so much part of the college game is usually you want the young hot
13:22Defensive coordinator that connects with the players and is an absolute master on the recruiting trail
13:28that's not really what Matt Patricia is like if anything that we know about the Patriot way is the guy probably doesn't even like to
13:33Talk to his players or pay attention to any of his players
13:35Let alone fly to another city and try to recruit a linebacker to come to the institution
13:40I am surprised like they have one of the best if I'd be best
13:42Defensive coordinators last year and it's almost like one of those spots where you can attract anybody who's halfway decent
13:48They coach for one or two years and they're probably off to a head coaching position in college somewhere else now
13:53They took an interesting route last year by going on to you know, what we need a we need instant offense here
13:58Let's get Chip Kelly. How did it work out national championship? Where's Chip Kelly back into the NFL?
14:02These are supposed to be unbelievably attractive positions and it's almost like feels like they're settling on Matt Patricia
14:08And I guess there's a pedigree because he was the Patriots defensive coordinator and he's been in multiple Super Bowls
14:14But for me, I don't think that strikes all that much with college kids. Okay, I'm gonna play for Matt Patricia
14:18Yeah, who's that guy?
14:20Yeah, it's an interesting move. I would say because you would expect
14:23Defensive acumen just understanding schemes and all the pedigree that he's built up in the NFL
14:29Matt Patricia has that and should be able to take that experience down to the collegiate level now
14:35Chip Kelly was proven as an offensive play caller
14:38Really in college football has not necessarily done that in the NFL and had the familiarity with Ryan day
14:44Played for Kelly at New Hampshire so on and so forth
14:48I don't really know of any correlation between Patricia, Ohio State and Ryan day
14:53the last time Patricia was in college football over two decades ago as an offensive assistant at
15:00Syracuse oddly
15:02Enough. I'm not sure. I love this higher
15:04It was starting to be reported that that event of coordinator would have some NFL ties and then Matt Patricia's name was
15:11Floated again strictly as a defensive coordinator when that has been his position from year start to year end
15:19He's had some success, of course working under Bill Belichick in
15:23Congruency on that side of the ball. That's how you get to
15:26Lombardi trophies when it was his job two years ago now in 2023 in Philly and try to take over for Sean Desai
15:35It was a train wreck. I'll wait. I'll trust in Ryan day
15:39He has earned the benefit of the doubt
15:41But I would just say from a headline perspective DRS not exactly one that you're like, yeah, that's a great move
15:47Yeah, exactly. And what does he really have to cover up?
15:49Anyway, it's probably have the better defense just about every time he steps on the field
15:52You should be a good coach
15:53If you're at Ohio State you should be printing money playing paint by numbers because your X's and O's don't matter because you got the
15:59better Jimmy's and Joe's
16:02Listen, they had a great defense this year and then Jim Nolte's left for Penn State
16:07An interesting offseason a
16:09recap of Super Bowl 59
16:12One final time here on the early line not until a Thursday. You might be asking yourself
16:17Why I'm asking myself the same question, especially when Mark Zitto is joining us to recap a game
16:24He did not watch. You know, how was your Super Bowl Sunday overall?
16:30How was that wonderful animated picture known as dog, man?
16:34Listen I got it much
16:36Kids had a blast first and foremost dog man actually was pretty clever. There was some decently good humor in it
16:43And I would if you have kids I would highly recommend go doing it. It's it's it's not not a terrible flick
16:49I usually don't stay awake for kids movies when I take my kids and I'm just passing out because it's you know
16:53It's dark and I'm old and I'm in this recliner. So I just fall asleep, but I might stay awake for all a dog band
16:58So it was good
16:59I'm proud of you. That's huge. Some of us were maybe falling asleep during Super Bowl 59
17:04Because of the clunker that it was DRS before we dive into the game
17:09Yeah, maybe Zeno's done some reading in the last three four days to see what happened or watch some highlights
17:15I'm not entirely sure there was something you saw out of marks, you know
17:18Not the fact he skipped out on Super Bowl Sunday went to the movie theaters. But what was that other thing that you saw?
17:25Yeah, but by the way, yeah, we're gonna get that in a second
17:27But I gotta respect Mark Zinner's opinion here in this point because you know, I come on this show every morning and recap games
17:32I never see here, but you wouldn't know it now. I'm a little behind. This means actually
17:43Yeah, let's get back to let's get back to the basics here because my meal is coming up in
17:48Let's just say two hours at this point right now, and I'm gonna be good
17:52One thing I do like is a nice sweet after the meal do you see a chocolate bar or something?
17:56You know, that's good. It's gonna quell my appetite for the rest of the day
18:00Carrot cake is a delicious option here mark
18:02But I didn't understand the tweet that came out here that said try our cake without the icing. Stop it
18:08We're not doing that. No pizza without the cheese. No, I would have to cheese. Come on
18:13I think you misread it here. Like I actually
18:17Okay
18:20Carrot cake rake it's all in the icing like if you icing like off carrot cake
18:26Nobody would ever eat it like you can take chocolate cake and not put icing on it aka a cupcake you need it and it
18:31Would still taste good. No one is eating carrot cake without the icing. It is all the icing that makes carrot cake delicious
18:38So what I was saying was would you ever try carrot cake without the icing the answer is no because it's probably not good
18:44But that icing
18:45chef's kiss right there
18:47What would carrot cake without the icing even be just like carrot?
18:53Delicious, it would be delicious. How about that?
18:56Carrots out there vegetable vegetable scrapple is what it is
19:00So, you know one of the main reasons that you didn't watch the biggest sporting event of each and every year
19:05127 point seven actually did the highest watch Super Bowl ever in the history of the sport just to clarify
19:12You know, one of the reasons I believe you didn't watch you were fed up with Kansas City, right?
19:16You bought you thought the Bills would be the team to take down
19:19The Chiefs to end the historic and dynastic run it turned out Philadelphia did that and then some
19:26Indomitant fashion 40 to 22 the victory for the Eagles instead of just so you know, it wasn't actually that close
19:33We're all watching the entirety of that game. So, you know as you've been reading and looking back
19:40What is your ultimate takeaway from Super Bowl 59
19:44Look, I tweeted it out before
19:47The game actually started and I did a video on it on social
19:50I just said look the single best piece of betting advice I can give about the game
19:54Is that they think the Eagles can win?
19:56Altline them to minus seven and get plus money or higher because the only way to beat the Chiefs is to blow them out
20:02They needed to do exactly what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did to them is get a huge lead early
20:07Force them out of their game script and force them to just sort of you know
20:11Try to play catch up the entire game and that's exactly what the Eagles did
20:14Look, I think the game really turned on one simple thing
20:17It was ten nothing
20:19the Chiefs had the ball and whatever Patrick Mahomes was trying to do on that past play because it wouldn't have been complete even if
20:26Cooper Dejean wasn't there
20:27But whatever he was trying to do there was was it was a terrible mistake and Cooper Jean picks it off runs it to the house
20:33That's when the entire game
20:35Changed for the Kansas City Chiefs. They were in complete chase mode from then on out
20:38There was nothing their game script was out the window and he reads play sheet was off
20:42Everything changed at that point in time and they knew that they were in trouble because the other part is
20:48The Eagles showed once again
20:50The same thing that the Giants showed against Tom Brady if you want to slay the dragon
20:54You got to do it up the middle and you got to get home with four if you do that
20:58You know seven guys in coverage everything goes your way
21:01And so I don't want to hear about a chiefs decimated offensive line
21:05Nobody else did it to the Chiefs all year long the last time, you know
21:09The Chiefs had problems with Tampa. That was a bad offensive line that year. I think if we knew that going in
21:13There was no issues. This was a fine offensive line all year long that held up
21:17They just got beat by a better more physical team
21:20Which is the shame of it for me because two years ago if you played this same game in New Orleans again
21:24Eagles will probably beat them down 40 to 22 as well if they want to play on an ice skating rink
21:29Chiefs Eagles rematch ice skating rink
21:31Let's see if we can even up the score at this point some homes can get after but I do want to talk about the
21:36Quarterbacks in this game. I expected a solid performance out of Jalen Hurts
21:39Why great offensive line great wide receivers take one Barclay in the backfield, but the Eagles do have a number one defense in football
21:45I was surprised because usually
21:47Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs don't care what your defense is. We're moving the football
21:50We've got great game plans together and we'll make it work
21:53Were you surprised as much as I were of risk Patrick Mahomes was feeling the heat in the pocket and that really affected him for
21:59The next play the next quarter the next drive and the rest of the game
22:02I was surprised that he was uneasy in the pocket for so long
22:07Yeah, well again, I think when you talk about getting off the game script here DRS
22:11Is that like when you got down 17 nothing, right?
22:14That's when the pressure really started to come on and it's because you're not gonna dink and dunk in that mode
22:19You want chunk plays and what a chunk plays require in the pocket time and they just flat-out weren't getting it
22:25I mean, they weren't gonna settle for screen passes and you know, four yard out routes to Travis Kelsey
22:30They need to get down the field fast and try to put up points to get themselves back in the game
22:35But you need time to be able to do that in the pocket to let guys run routes
22:38so that's what really where it really fell apart for for them for the Chiefs offensively and give some credit here to the
22:46Kellen Moore and the Eagles offense because you know
22:50They were willing the Chiefs are willing to sell out to stop st
22:52Quan Barkley and the Eagles like fine. We got this
22:55We have plenty of other people to go to you know, and they were smart enough not to you know
22:59Try to run into the teeth of what exactly what the Chiefs are gonna try to stop
23:02So it was a great coaching, you know job by the Philadelphia Eagles all around
23:07Yeah, it certainly was, you know
23:08You were expecting at some point in this historic playoff run for Kansas City to come up short
23:15They were the first ever back-to-back Super Bowl champion to even appear in a third consecutive Super Bowl
23:21But we are still waiting on one team to win three consecutive
23:25Lombardi trophies Patrick Mahomes is only 29 years old. We'll see about Travis Kelsey's football future
23:30But Andy Reid is coming back for at least another year in
23:342025 this era those you know of Casey's dynasty run has come to a close. What is your expectation?
23:42Expectation for the next portion of what Kansas City is going to do starting in 2025
23:48It's really, you know a transitional period. I know Andy Reid says he's back
23:53You know for how much longer?
23:54I don't know Travis Kelsey obviously is mulling retirement and what this all looks like sure
23:59They're gonna get Rashid rice back
24:00But you know, I think over time you're gonna start to see the the Chiefs come back down a little bit
24:06They're not gonna, you know lap the field the way they have for the last couple of years
24:10And that's just natural in this state of the NFL. Everything is cyclical
24:14Which is why winning three in a row now is even harder because keeping all the main pieces together is really really tough
24:20You've heard me say it a hundred times
24:21I can't wait to see Patrick Mahomes play a football game without Andy Reid on the sidelines because that's really when you find out
24:28What the difference is between him and Andy Reid and how much together they are so much better as opposed to apart similar to Belichick
24:35And Brady, yes, Brady won a Super Bowl without Belichick
24:38But unless you get another high-level coach in there for former homes, it's a huge drop-off from Andy Reid to the next guy
24:44So I think there's a state of transition coming not saying the Chiefs are gonna be irrelevant or there won't be competitive
24:49But guess what?
24:50You got three teams in that division now who are all gunning for you to take you down
24:54Remember even the Colts when they won 12 games for like nine consecutive years and won the division for nine consecutive years
25:01You win a lot. So and they had a great quarterback and a great coach
25:05So we'll see what the dynasty holds for KC moving forward
25:09We'll talk about the Eagles back-to-back repeating hopes as a Super Bowl champ and the question everybody wants to know
25:17Will Mark Zinno be watching Super Bowl 60 and if so, how will he bet it very early on in the offseason?
25:24Zinno joins us once again
25:27Live right here on the early line on sports grid
25:30We win with Zen even early in the offseason as we look at the Super Bowl 60 odds and the
25:36expectations all around the National Football League entering
25:412025 Zinno, let's start at the very top because we have seen a ton of movement
25:45Since these odds have been available in the last 72 hours or so
25:50The Chiefs open as the slight favorites in front of the reigning champs now the Eagles
25:55Philly now the shortest price at 6 to 1 the Chiefs and the Ravens tied for the second best number at plus 650 the bills
26:03Plus 750 and the Lions round out the top 5 at 10 to 1 Zinno. Let's start with, Philadelphia
26:10What are the chances you give the birds to try to go back-to-back as a Lombardi Trophy winner? I
26:17Mean they're high but I would tell you again. I have to wait and see what the offseason brings. Look you cannot
26:22There's one thing you can't do in the NFL and that's just run it back again
26:27That never works. Not anymore. Not in today's NFL. You can't just run the same team back out there and go
26:33We're gonna be fine. Look what we did last year. It's not how it works in this league ever
26:38Not anymore, you know in the 80s you can do that right when the Niners did it every year sure that worked
26:43It's a different league now. It's definitely coached different players different everything
26:46So the Eagles are still gonna have to try to improve as best they can
26:49In certain areas because there's so much game film on them now for being successful that teams will be able to figure it out
26:56So I think it's high
26:57I mean obviously they're gonna be the odds on favor to win the NFC East and the NFC all those things are normal and expected
27:03But I would not give them an absolute pass into it
27:06In fact, I can't believe my eyes are bugging out at looking at the Detroit Lions at 10 to 1
27:12The quickest I can get to Vegas and put a wager down on that is exactly where my money is going
27:17Do we forget how defeated and injured that defense was by the end of the year if the Lions are healthy
27:24Aren't they there by far and away the best team in the NFC? Maybe the best team in the league?
27:29I mean
27:30But that was what we thought for 15 weeks of the year and no one batted an eye at it because Jared Goff had a stinker
27:37And they played an offensive team with a banked-up defense. All of a sudden we think that this team has taken this
27:42I don't see that. I still think the Lions are the best team in the league
27:45They're gonna put up 35 every single game and with a healthy defense
27:49They're gonna be really tough to stop and if the path of the NFC goes back through Detroit again
27:53Like it did this year Lions are in the Super Bowl in my opinion
27:57Yeah, it'll be interesting to see too because Ben Johnson is like the worst free agent that you could lose and he's not even a player
28:02We'll see how that offense sort of makes up modes because the Eagles had that great offense lose striking
28:07they were a
28:08Average offense to say best heading late or excuse me late last season including that loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the playoffs
28:15But let's take a look overall like Eagles Chiefs Ravens Bills lines
28:19They're the top five ten to one or less
28:21Is there a team mark that has your eye?
28:22Maybe a little bit longer a shot 20 30 40 to one some team you think you can make some money on some of these
28:27tickets I
28:29Mean again, it kind of pains me to say this because I hated the contract that he was given
28:34I thought it was absolutely ridiculous
28:35but the Packers seem to be in a really good position to be able to upset and
28:40Upseed the Lions in the NFC North like if you're right DRS and losing both coordinators in Detroit changes them
28:47Dynamically and they can't seem to get it right and they take a step back which is fair to think
28:53But sometimes it's about Jimmy's and Joseph or X's and O's
28:56The Packers will be the team next that you trust the most right like who knows what's going on with the quarterback situation
29:02In Minnesota, and I still don't think the Bears are all that good yet despite getting Ben Johnson
29:07I don't know if they're good enough to even make enough noise to make the playoffs next year the Packers seem like the team that
29:12Could run to an NFC North title get themselves a home playoff game and a favorable draw in the postseason
29:17That's where I would probably go next. Look, I think with Washington, I would expect them to take a step back
29:24You're not surprising Jalen Jaden Daniels obviously caught everybody by surprise
29:29They'll figure it out against him. I'm not saying he's not good, but are they gonna win 12 13 games next year?
29:35I don't think with that defense unless they make something dramatic happen in the offseason and really upgrade that defense
29:40It's gonna be really tough for them. And now that teams have a whole year of tape on Jaden Daniels
29:45They'll play him a little bit different
29:46you'll see a little bit of regression coming his way a
29:49Sophomore slump is a thing around the National Football League for any reason can the commander still be a playoff contender for sure?
29:56But their price was 18 to 1 and open now 24 to 1 center
30:00You mentioned a bunch of teams from the NFC completely agree in the value with the Lions
30:04You mentioned the Packers if Detroit's loss of both coordinators does hamper the Lions success this season
30:10I asked you about the Eagles. Of course, you have not been all that high on, Kansas City this year
30:16I would assume in 2025
30:18Who do you give the edge of those teams around the AFC to represent that side of the league in Super Bowl 60?
30:25I'm sure you guys are
30:27Fans of the Simpsons or at least at one point in time watch the Simpsons
30:31If you remember in the beginning of the entrance you always see Bart riding on the chalk chalkboard
30:35I will not do something. I am doing that now in my office
30:38I will not bet on the Ravens to win the Super Bowl
30:40I will not bet on the Ravens to win the Super Bowl
30:41I will not bet on the Ravens because for the last four years now
30:45Do it every year and I want to hit myself in the head with a bat around week four or five
30:49You know Ravens are struggling a little bit beginning of the year, you know, they're three and two
30:53That's a nice number on Baltimore at seven and a half to one to go with let's just throw a future down on the Ravens
30:58Got a four years in a row four years in a row. I've come up short
31:01So no, I'm not picking the Ravens to win the Super Bowl and the minute I don't obviously that means they're going to win it
31:07But yeah, I'll still back Buffalo
31:09I'm not I won't get off the train outside of my overwhelming gushing love for Josh Allen
31:15You have to acknowledge that the bills are still a very complete team and very well coached as much as I think there's an argument
31:21To say maybe it's time to move on from Sherman Dermott. Obviously, they're not going to do that
31:25But you know, Josh Allen is so good and and there's a reason why he's gonna carry them in another 12 wins next year
31:32You know, there's always a path for the bills to be in the AFC Championship game and in the Super Bowl
31:38Need good players to win big football games, which includes that MVP market here at the Fandula Sports because as we talked about
31:44Yes, always a hot team in the regular season or the Baltimore Ravens because of why Lamar Jackson?
31:49He's the favorite right now mark plus 450 price for the MVP next season
31:53Josh Allen Joe Burrell Patrick Mahomes and Jaden Daniels who would get your vote earlier should have say your money early on being the MVP next year. I
32:02Mean I want to put it on burrow because you know how stupid NFL voters are
32:07Because you know now Jackson has two and Alan is one of my homes at two who's missing from there
32:11Oh, we have to give it to burrow, you know, cuz that's how dumb NFL voters are who vote for the MVP
32:16But I tell you what guys I mean, I would actually take a flyer right now on CJ Stroup
32:21I think there's going to be some revamping done there. They're gonna get a healthy offense again
32:27And really Stroud has the ability to put up big-time
32:30numbers in an offense if they're smart enough to put the ball back in his hands and I think he learned if he starts running
32:35More he's gonna be a lot more successful
32:38Let's talk the coaching carousel with Mark Zinnow on the other side of the break now that it has reached its conclusion
32:45We're tired
32:47It's the offseason around the National Football League and all seven head coaching vacancies that we saw a certain juncture of this NFL
32:55Offseason have now been filled the coaching carousel at least at the head coaching spot
33:01Has stopped spinning around the National Football League this year. We talked about it yesterday
33:06There you see the seven vacancies that now have a new job for all of those NFL
33:12Franchises Mark Zinnow joins us for a third consecutive segment, you know, let's start with your favorite hire the best hire
33:19Who do you think made that best decision in tabbing their new head man?
33:23Let's Pete Carroll go into the Raiders. I mean finally the adults are back in the room finally
33:27Look at that look on Ben's face. Finally. There's somebody there who can bring some level of stability to a franchise that hasn't had any
33:34I mean Pete Carroll up what look at the face on you. I would hold on now. I'm stopping you speak
33:40Tell me why you're so Wow of all seven of those on the board you go with Pete Carroll the one that
33:48This is no shot against Pete Carroll at 73 years old and incredibly successful
33:54NFL head coach the situation of which he finds himself. Do you expect Pete Carroll to have success in Las Vegas? I
34:04Expect future I'll have success anywhere. He goes cuz he's that good of a coach. I mean that's that you know again
34:10Let's define success here
34:12Get the organization back on the rails get them competitive again on a consistent basis and get them in the playoff
34:19Conversation within the first two years. Do I believe Pete Carroll can do that? Yes, I do
34:23Absolutely have quarterback issues that they got to figure out. I think Pete Carroll takes care of that. He's
34:29Listen, he did it to Seattle. He turned around that entire franchise and made them relevant after years of dormancy
34:35So I 100% believe that he can do it again
34:37But yeah, I think the adults are back in the room there and they finally hired a coach
34:41I mean good
34:42I think Gruden would have done the same thing had he been able to keep his job long enough if he hadn't sent some stupid
34:47Emails that need that either here or there
34:49Yeah, pesky emails don't hit reply all nonetheless, but I think Carroll starts to bring that back again
34:54So that I think is the best coach in the bunch there
34:58With Mike Vrabel coming in a close second. Everybody loves Mike Vrabel. I would tell you I
35:04Would tell you I think Ben Johnson is an absolute fool
35:08And not because he's a bad news. That is a bad job to take
35:11Look, I've said this repeatedly and nobody ever wants to listen to me
35:14The number one question you should ask yourself if you're gonna take a head coaching job is very simply this
35:19Can I win the division within the first three years if the answer is no don't take the job
35:26Because if you can't win the division, okay, that means that you're always fighting for a wild card
35:33You're the Bears are not winning that division within the next three years. They're simply just not they're not as good as the other teams
35:39In that division, this is not a shot at Caleb Williams
35:42But the other teams are way too stacked and if you can't but you know, by the way
35:46You know what winning the division means an extra home playoff game more money for the owner
35:50Bucks and seats all that stuff matters to football people who make football decisions
35:54So if you can't win a division in the first three years, it's not a good job
35:58The most appealing job out there would have been the Jaguars because anybody can win that division in the next three years
36:04Yes, I'm gonna pick up pick up myself, you know Pete Carroll is about to be a head coach in which division
36:10the
36:11AFC West but the measuring slide your standards by your
36:16Telling me you think the Las Vegas Raiders are capable of winning the AFC West in the first three years of Pete Carroll's tenure
36:24Okay, I should have clarified if you're going to be a first-time head coach Pete Carroll has already been to the top
36:31If you're a first-time head coach, that was my mistake
36:33I'm not like we changing on I forgot this at first because again you get one crack as a first-time head coach if you fail
36:40You almost never get a second shot
36:42That's the point Pete Carroll's been to the top of the mountain
36:45Right, like he's already accomplished what he needs to him taking this job is about him putting the organization back on any plus
36:50He's not gonna coach that long it coach until he's 80. He's not gonna be here for seven years
36:54He's doing this for two or three years and then handing it off to somebody else
36:58That's always probably been the plan
36:59But if you're a first-time head coach if you're Liam Cohen, right or you're you're Aaron Glenn or whatever take you can win a division
37:06within the next three years
37:09Donnie we haven't heard from you at all this segment. I just love to get some of your thoughts
37:13Yeah, like we're simpatico right there at that point because I love I love the higher by the way mark for the Raiders
37:19But for the reasons of you're right the adults in the room point this thing in the right direction. I'm old now
37:25I got two to three years here
37:26You'll be a better football team when you leave here by the time I'm done and you hand it off to the new coach
37:31But quickly Brian Schottenheimer, we we need some thoughts on shoddy. Come on coach shot
37:35I mean, I think we're at a phase in America right now where we're giving highly unqualified people very high level jobs
37:42Seems to be a pattern
37:43And that's what it feels like we're giving very unqualified people high level jobs and just winging it
37:48so
37:49That may be the case here in Dallas. Good luck Cowboys
37:53No, I love you, man
37:55This might have been one of my favorite half an hour's with you ever a recap of a Super Bowl quick
38:00You didn't watch it. Oh, he's a good time with that coaching carousel
38:05We thank you
38:08We welcome you to our number three our third and final live right here on this Thursday on the early line on SportsCrit
38:14He is Donnie right side. I am Ben Stevens always a fun time. Do you know that's on this show?
38:20Especially with Mark Zinnow, we're going to continue to have some fun in this third and final hour
38:27We'll have the prop perspective on this Thursday with TV Tom
38:31Beck you the four nations face off in its second day in the opener for the United States of America
38:38Who do you play for you?
38:41Hey on the ice tonight as they take on
38:44Finland TV Tom will be here for all of that five games in the NBA on the final night of action before
38:51All-star weekend in San Francisco. We'll talk some college hoops
38:55We'll do a little bit of everything here in this last hour DRS on a Thursday on TEL
39:02Including getting the people ready for the Eagles parade in Philadelphia tomorrow
39:06Millions expect to hear as you watch a new version of America's team ratings
39:12performance
39:13Merchandise all into the equation and it comes up now the Eagles the favorite team in
39:18The National Football League and the United States. How about that the favored or favorites?
39:24I think those are very yes, and and and now it's gonna be the Gulf of Philadelphia
39:29I hear that's gonna be today because everybody loves the Eagles
39:34How about that water gap or we going all the way down beautiful all the way up the Hudson you name it everything
39:40Philadelphia color roses I
39:43Like that expecting at least a million people in the city of brotherly love on the day of love
39:50Valentine's Day a Friday to celebrate the second Lombardi trophy in
39:55Franchise history Donnie is a lucky man doesn't even have to get the wife a gift because Jalen hurts delivered on that was a gift
40:03So good. It's it it goes like whenever when you sit down with your daughter and your wife and watch the Super Bowl and understand
40:08Like we don't even need presents anymore for the rest of our life because we're getting all the presents we need right now
40:13It's a great life. It really is
40:15Yeah, it's really good. Can't wait till they unbox that replica Lombardi trophy to see the final present
40:22They will have what I got you
40:24I'm telling you right now
40:26You can see the one over Donnie's left shoulder from Super Bowl 52 the first ever Super Bowl championship in Eagles franchise history
40:33The Super Bowl parade is tomorrow. We are going to conduct our own Super Bowl parade probably
40:39March 15th or so would be my guess. Oh, we're not a replica trophy gets to the right side household
40:46I really want to do that. I think we can maybe expense now
40:49We probably can't expense anything, but we're trying to get you some confetti and we'll just
40:55Like I'm like again sitting in the Cadillac opening up the roof there me sitting on top of that the wife driving on the neighborhood
41:03Real slow with the two Lombardi's and me waving everybody like we can get somebody out of here from the sports grid network to come
41:09Shoot that parade by myself. Come on now. Can you see it going around the neighborhood? Like who would like who's coming up the street?
41:16I don't know some guy sit on his roof with two Lombardi trophies
41:19Now that we are after your name
41:21That would be good your neighbors know you well enough to like have an understanding of what they would be witnessing
41:26What do you think they would be like, who is this weirdo on a convertible that he doesn't own with replica?
41:33Yeah, he's driving around. Yeah, they'd be like, why is the guy who walks the dogs now sitting on top of a car?
41:37Like that's probably what they would say at this point right now
41:39Like I don't understand what's going around but they would understand when they see the two Lombardi's
41:44We might get some people lining up the spaces, you know on the street
41:48There are us in South Jersey because of its proximity to regional Philadelphia are most people Eagles fans like on your
41:56Block in your neighborhood. Yeah, when I went out for the hat for halftime to walk the dogs
42:01It was a party up and down the street where you might have thought the game was over which it's for intensive purposes
42:07It was yeah, it was late late on my street. I
42:12Really I really then I think we need to do this parade because maybe people come outside and like
42:18wave back to you and like say hi and make banners like that would be a
42:23Really good in the horn. Yep. Make sure everybody's out there. Of course
42:27For sure. Well, and then you can smoke a cigar
42:30You can teach everybody how to properly smoke a cigar with a two-handed technique room
42:36Just estimate we don't want to see can we see the display right? No
42:40Maybe later. No
42:42We'll get back to that. I'll try to get you to that at another time
42:46Drs Lombardi trophy number two for Philadelphia in franchise history number two in the last eight years
42:52The Dynasty era for Kansas City in this rendition in the hunt for three consecutive Super Bowl championships
43:00Has come to a close but they still have won
43:03three of the previous six
43:05Super Bowls, that's half. What are they going to do the next three five years?
43:10That was the question. We wanted to hear from all of you out there and fade the public
43:21At sports grid on Twitter
43:24How many Super Bowls will the Kansas City Chiefs win in the next three seasons zero?
43:30One two three those were your for betting or voting options
43:34I should say in our fade the public poll most of the public DRS zero or one
43:41But more of the public selecting at least one Lombardi trophy for Kansas City the net of missing out
43:49Entirely in the next three years around the National Football League Donnie. Are you fading the public?
43:55Uh, you know, it's close but based on what the voting results came in
44:0147.9% that's where I went
44:02So technically I'm not fading the public here because I think the Kansas City Chiefs of the next three years will win one
44:08Why would you say that what they do over the past three years?
44:10They won two of them here and also
44:12Andy Reid and Patrick Williams are coming back next year when you do end up in the Super Bowl and win it
44:17Everything's fine. You go into the next season
44:19Maybe you try to improve yourself in some areas
44:22But you come back relatively as is this is a team that got beat this year and similarly to the way they got beat
44:28Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They couldn't protect Patrick with homes
44:31So if you tell me right now, they're gonna allocate their resources that Rasheed Rice will come back next year
44:36Hollywood Browns gonna be back. Obviously worthy was a good young wide receivers a rookie. They're fine there
44:41They might add a running back. The most important thing is here that offensive line. Tony's got to go back to guard
44:46You got to find a left tackle and maybe even improve your right tackle
44:48They understand that as a point of need and if they do that and stay healthy or somewhat healthy because nobody's always
44:55100% healthy
44:55Why can't they be right back in the Super Bowl next year because when you do lose it stings a lot more
45:01Obviously than winning it and you get fat and happy in the offseason
45:05I expect them to win at least one more over the next three years as long as Patrick Owens is in his prime
45:11Yep, I say one as well, and I don't think that is overly optimistic for a team. That is one half of
45:18The previous six and it's played in the AFC championship game all seven years
45:24Mahomes has been the starter in Kansas City. I bring up that point DRS because they are going to give themselves the opportunity
45:32They have won five of those seven AFC
45:36Championship games as well. They are not the reigning Super Bowl champs entering this year for the first time since the
45:432022 beginning of the NFL season, but they will be the rating
45:48AFC champs once again, and when we look at the odds, right?
45:53Philadelphia is the favorite at six to one a half dollar in front of both the Chiefs and
45:58The Ravens at plus 650 with the bills only backed by a dollar. We are still going to have the same conversation
46:05I believe throughout every stage of next NFL season
46:09The only team with the pedigree in the AFC in the last half decade plus is Kansas City
46:16Of course and also the changing of the guard meaning like players turn over Mahomes is going to come back
46:23That's the key linchpin. You know, who else is Steve Spagnuolo is your defensive coordinator? Oh, he's gonna be back. How about Andy Reid?
46:28Oh, he's gonna be back as well
46:30You look at teams that we talk about like Detroit who haven't been to the Super Bowl
46:33But lose their biggest cog in an offensive coordinator and the Philadelphia Eagles. They were great on offense this year
46:39Kellen Moore is gone. Does that mean they're gonna be great next year?
46:41We don't know last time they lost their offensive coordinator coming off his Super Bowl run
46:45Didn't look so hot. So Kansas City is gonna return in act. That's be good for them
