00:00Sharjah Sustainable City is the first fully integrated sustainable development in Sharjah.
00:06It comprises about 1,200 villas divided into four phases and a mixed-use development equipped with a mixed-use commercial outlet,
00:15a school and a utility plot, which is very interesting from an energy and a waste management point of view.
00:24The entire development was conceived and designed based on the three pillars of sustainability.
00:29We wish to achieve social sustainability outcomes such as a sense of community and safety, community education, special education,
00:37environmental sustainability outcomes and economic sustainability outcomes.
00:42We want to reduce the cost of living by living in Sharjah Sustainable City.
00:46When we focus on environmental sustainability, here we have six different approaches and six objectives.
00:54The first one is we want to deliver on food.
00:56We believe all developments, the built environment can contribute to food security.
01:00So we are providing for community gardening in different plots and zones of the development.
01:06We have indoor vertical farms and then we have a productive urban landscape with date palms and other fruit trees.
01:13The vertical farms are closed structures that are climate controlled where we can produce up to 15,000 kilograms of fresh produce per year.
01:21We control the light and we control the cooling and we maximize productivity and minimize water consumption.
01:28The second point is energy.
01:30We are designing a city that is aiming for net zero energy because the future tells us that we have to reduce emissions
01:36and we have to align with the Paris Agreement.
01:39So we are reducing demand through efficiencies and design and appliances
01:44and then we are maximizing production through renewable rooftop solar modules.
01:50And this is in collaboration with SEWA, the utility.
01:54By achieving that, we can achieve net zero energy at the level of all the villas.
01:58We also have smart features in the villas to kind of nudge the residents to consuming less.
02:04So we have motion sensors installed that will control and assist in the control of lighting and cooling.
02:10In terms of water, we have equipped all the units with the most efficient water fixtures
02:16such as the flush tanks and the taps and the washing machine and the dishwasher.
02:20We wish thereby to reduce water consumption and with community education,
02:24we can go the extra mile and achieve our water consumption target of 170 liters per person per day.
02:31All the wastewater is treated on site and it is used to irrigate the entire landscape through a smart system.
02:37And then in terms of mobility, so we want a city that is really connected.
02:41We maximize soft mobility, which means you can walk and cycle everywhere in the community,
02:46you can connect any two villas on foot, but we also deploy a smart EV charging infrastructure
02:52to encourage and to nudge people to switch from gasoline cars to electric cars
02:56because the future is electric, it is efficient, it is clean and it is also silent.
03:01So our project is located in Arrahmania 1 in Sharjah
03:05and we have around 1,200 plus villas ranging from 3, 4 and 5 bedrooms.
03:11Most of our clients are local nationals who are looking for a first home,
03:15young Emirati families between the age of 30 to 40 who really want to move in
03:20into a fully sustainable development, a modern villa that could serve the needs of the future generations.
03:25As we stand, we are looking at handing over 280 villas,
03:29so phase one of the project, by the end of March 2022.
03:33And all our plans, all the teams are currently working together to make sure
03:37we welcome our residents in their villas by the end of Q1.
