Transcript
00:00Hey, next time you interrupt a woman in my courtroom, we're gonna send you off to a lighthouse, crawling with gators.
00:07Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the best times performers broke in an SNL sketch.
00:15When I open, uh, when I open the door...
00:21Number 30, gift wrap.
00:23Oh yeah, she's gonna have the best Christmas ever flip in life.
00:27I hope so, she's pretty special.
00:29Oh, I know she will, sir. That is my Christmas guarantee.
00:34Oh, ow. Mmm.
00:36Oh, sugar, are you okay?
00:38Mmm, yeah, just a, just a little paper cut.
00:41This might not be the first SNL sketch with lots of blood, but few ever go this wrong.
00:46James Franco's gift wrapper cuts his finger and unleashes a geyser.
00:50Leslie Jones is right in the splash zone, with some of the fake blood getting into her mouth.
00:54The actress is clearly struggling as she tries to compose herself.
00:58It might be funny for a second, but it's also really gross when you put yourself in her shoes.
01:02Dear Lord!
01:04What's happening?
01:05Your Christmas dreams are coming true, that's what.
01:08Let me find my special choo-choo paper.
01:13You know what, I think we good, man.
01:15Kenan Thompson looks concerned as he stands next to his scene partner.
01:19While Jones tries not to be sick, Franco breaks after a gag with a fake foot.
01:24She might even deserve an award for hanging in there.
01:27That's what, a foot, that's what she said.
01:31Number 29, Beavis and Butthead.
01:34Host Ryan Gosling certainly likes to break, or at least he can't seem to help it.
01:38Look, they even sitting like they do on the show.
01:41You two really don't know that you look like Beavis and Butthead.
01:48This translates to yet another modern classic from the evil geniuses at SNL.
01:52The show puts Gosling and Mikey Day in makeup as the cartoon characters Beavis and Butthead.
01:56This sends Heidi Gardner into a laughing fit before some of her co-stars follow suit.
02:01The host also loses it, with the sketch taking a few pauses so performers can collect themselves.
02:13We don't blame any of them for giggling considering the script or the prosthetics.
02:17In the future, we hope this absurd idea comes back to crack up more people like Chloe Fineman.
02:22I don't know this gentleman.
02:24You don't know each other?
02:26No, no.
02:28Hi, I'm Dean.
02:30I'm Dean.
02:31Jeff, Jeff.
02:32Nice to meet you.
02:33Nice to meet you too.
02:34Number 28, Maine Justice with Jamie Foxx.
02:37I'll take a seat right here, right now, okay?
02:39Alright, here we go.
02:40I'm about to serve up a heaping spoonful of Maine Justice, yeah.
02:44Considering the circumstances, this sketch wasn't gonna play out any other way.
02:48Jason Sudeikis plays a judge in Maine with a southern accent.
02:52Maine's already crazy before the trial gets going, confusing audiences with its funny details.
02:57Okay, alright, alright, alright, okay, okay.
02:59Order my courtroom, order my-
03:01Shut your butts.
03:03That's right.
03:04Sudeikis' character then issues a punishment for Bobby Moynihan that breaks Jamie Foxx's bailiff.
03:10With the lead performer adding in a kiss, he forces Foxx to hide his face.
03:14Bare lily-white butt across the swamp to put out that ass fire.
03:20Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
03:23Oh, Jes, look!
03:25The entire script feels like a fever dream that only gets better with these interactions.
03:30While we might have more questions than answers, we can't help but laugh as the breaking enhances the scene.
03:36Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
03:40Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
03:43Number 27, Another Close Encounter.
03:46With how things went the first time around, you'd think that SNL learned their lesson.
03:50I'm hauled on board with my bush and my tush hanging.
03:56I see my old pals, the gray aliens, with the big, stupid, fat eyes.
04:00And I'm hit with the realization, first time I've been on a second date since 2009.
04:06The sequel to Close Encounter brings back Ryan Gosling for even more antics.
04:10It also keeps him laughing throughout the increasingly strange alien stories.
04:14It's a fantastic source of comedy, guaranteeing big reactions from the host as he deals with Kate McKinnon's character.
04:20We were led down a passageway of light.
04:23Cradled by what felt like a big, fuzzy mitten.
04:28And it almost felt like I was, uh, like God himself.
04:32You know, it was playing with my hair.
04:34There's also a more in-depth demonstration this time around.
04:37While handling her co-star, Kate McKinnon does wonders to break the Barbie actor into pieces.
04:42Gosling's giggles are definitely contagious, as this chaotic follow-up earns its place alongside the original.
05:06In another take on this sketch, Jonah Hill's Adam Grossman is a precocious six-year-old.
05:11Leslie Jones plays his nanny, Miss Lily, and tries to keep it together through all of the jokes.
05:15Hill's role also lets him sing, using reggae tunes to break Jones.
05:30The sudden burst into song makes it harder for the Superbad star to keep a straight face, too.
05:34Both performers enjoy themselves through this scene, earning even more laughs from the audience.
05:39The pair becomes a great comedic team here, even after tripping each other up.
05:43If you love Bob Marley, you'll probably get a kick out of this one.
06:01Fred Armisen plays this role with both dedication and chaos.
06:05The inclusion of Jason Sudeikis only makes things funnier, with the two playing people that derail a party.
06:19Armisen's abrasive guest stretches out, puts her foot in guacamole, and tests the other's patience.
06:36It also causes the former cast member to drop his act.
06:40Not only that, the likes of Vanessa Bayer can't contain herself at one point.
06:59The sketch itself is hilarious, and these moments heighten the experience even more.
07:03By the end, Aidy Bryant also breaks as the ensemble and props are pushed to the limit.
07:21If you pair up Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader, you'll make any sketch better.
07:25This scene also shows that the two can break like the best of them.
07:29Both performers play interviewers, asking all kinds of awkward and invasive questions to Scarlett Johansson.
07:35This culminates with a slushy drink gag that might shock you.
07:38Wiig knows it's coming and still struggles through her lines, with Hader completely broken next to her.
07:44Even Johansson can't keep a straight face in a reaction shot.
07:47There's a fair chance that anybody would laugh under the same conditions.
07:50Despite all these setbacks, this sketch remains one of the funniest of its era.
08:00You have no idea how much I love this sketch.
08:03It's so funny.
08:04It's so funny.
08:05It's so funny.
08:06It's so funny.
08:07It's so funny.
08:08It's so funny.
08:10You have great skin.
08:12What's your secret?
08:18Let's not forget her baby sister Lisa, who flew all the way from Temecula to celebrate with us.
08:23Lisa, we've heard so much about you.
08:25It's so nice to finally meet you.
08:27Mm-hmm.
08:28That's cute.
08:29But don't think I'm giving up the butt tonight.
08:31With her dedicated performance, Ego Wotem sets off a chain reaction that nobody can recover from.
08:36Her character cuts into a well-done steak and starts to shake the table.
08:40Host Pedro Pascal can't keep a straight face, cracking up as he tries to deliver his lines.
08:45This dog followed me home.
08:46I'm about to tear this thing up.
08:52When I opened the door, he just...
08:58He just sprinted inside.
09:00That man didn't give me no ketchup.
09:02He isn't the only one desperate to stay focused either.
09:05Wotem pushes through in an outrageous sketch, leading to some more funny reactions.
09:09Even Bowen Yang can't control himself, falling apart as the scene builds to an entertaining climax.
09:14Hey, everyone, just want to check in on you.
09:16Is everything going all right?
09:17We've been getting some complaints.
09:18Oh, because we black?
09:23Through it all, the cast looks like they're genuinely having fun.
09:26We over here minding our business.
09:29I'm just making sure everything's okay.
09:31I'm just making sure everything's okay.
09:33Actually, everything...
09:35Everything is not okay.
09:41Tonight, Barry's guests are...
09:43An old room full of strangers.
09:47Former California recall candidate Ariana Huffington.
09:50Disgusting politics.
09:52Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante.
09:54And the F-Shows of the day.
09:57In many versions of this sketch, Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake have carried on a musical tradition.
10:03They play Barry and Robin Gibb in this ridiculous talk show.
10:06Fallon takes over with his lively accent, sending his collaborator for a loop.
10:11Robin, do you have anything to add?
10:14Nah.
10:16Nah, I don't.
10:17Nothing, nothing at all.
10:19Nothing.
10:24The Gibb brothers have never seemed so dysfunctional or hilarious.
10:28Timberlake cracks under the pressure, unable to stay in character as his co-star flies off the handle.
10:34The host understandably breaks after listening to his scene partner's falsettos.
10:38With the singer trying to keep up, this bizarre premise gets both the guest performer and audience chuckling.
10:43Talking about crazy cold medallions.
10:46Talking about that.
10:48Bada, bada, bada, bada, bada.
10:54Any time this recurring sketch shows up, you know you're in for a good time.
10:58Maybe you should get going before Stewart gets home.
11:00Alright, I'll say I'm gonna take a Canterview driver to San Vicente,
11:04and then make a left and come four or five north.
11:06From there, just get off of Mulholland.
11:09Totally like that.
11:11This scene lets the cast poke fun at soap operas and Southern California in general.
11:16When Fred Armisen's character Stewart shows up, the sketch starts to break down in funny ways.
11:21Bill Hader tries to keep a straight face, but he's no match for Armisen's expressive voice.
11:26There's nothing going on, Stewart.
11:28Get back on San Vicente, take it to the ten,
11:33then switch over to the four or five north and let it dump you out into Mulholland where you belong.
11:41You can see Hader hanging on for dear life as his co-stars keep pushing forward.
11:47Even the best SNL performers lose control,
11:50with Kristen Wiig almost cracking up during a later moment.
11:53Everyone manages to finish strong as the dramatic revelations and directions keep going.
11:58When you see the Zanko chicken on the left turn right,
12:01take Venice and follow it all the way down.
12:03Then you're in Marina Del Rock.
12:06Queen? How do you know so much about Marina Del Ray?
12:17In 2018, Bill Hader hosted Saturday Night Live for the second time since leaving the show five years earlier,
12:23and he left everyone, including his co-stars, in stitches.
12:27In this sketch, Hader plays Horace,
12:30the elderly wheelchair-bound husband to SNL regular Cecily Strong,
12:34who's attending a game night with her girlfriends.
12:39It's revealed that Horace has just popped a Cialis,
12:42causing Strong to hop on his lap as the pill only lasts a couple of minutes.
12:46Hader proceeds to use his vehicular prop to great comedic effect,
12:50ultimately causing everyone involved to break character.
12:54What is the problem?
13:01Hader later discussed the scene on Late Night with Seth Meyers,
13:04and once again struggled to contain his laughter.
13:07You should be ashamed of yourselves.
13:16The brainchild of Bill Hader and John Mulaney,
13:19Stefan was introduced in 2008 and quickly became a fan favorite.
13:30The world said goodbye to the Weekend Update correspondent,
13:33whose knowledge of New York City's most bizarre hotspots was both hilarious and unparalleled, in 2013.
13:39But since then, Stefan has still found time to make a guest appearance or two.
13:50Not a thank you shot.
13:53In 2018, Stefan resurfaced, along with his lawyer Shy, played by Mulaney,
13:58and wasted no time getting everyone to crack up,
14:01including Hader and Update hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che.
14:04Hader laughs throughout the entire sketch,
14:07leading us to believe he was reading the script for the first time.
14:10How else do you explain it?
14:11And he whispered in my ear to make me laugh, he said,
14:15My girlfriend works at Yoshinoa Beef Bowl.
14:26These two iconic characters have made numerous appearances over the years.
14:37Played to perfection by Fred Armisen and Kristen Wiig,
14:40Garth and Kat are a songwriting team that just can't find time to rehearse their songs.
14:53In fact, to get into character, Wiig and Armisen never rehearse their performances,
14:57something Wiig called, quote, freeing and fun.
15:00Perhaps that's why both actors regularly burst into fits of laughter during sketches,
15:04as neither knew what to expect from the other.
15:06Watching Wiig try and keep up as Armisen just wings a performance is truly amazing.
15:11It's no wonder they couldn't keep it together.
15:23A recurring sketch from the 80s era of SNL involved Billy Crystal
15:26parodying Argentinian actor Fernando Llamas in a sketch called,
15:30Fernando's Hideaway.
15:31I made a hideaway today with one of the biggest names in baseball.
15:34It's got 12 letters in it. I counted it myself.
15:37Crystal would slap on a thick Spanish accent and interview celebrities,
15:41often getting their names and other tidbits of personal information wrong throughout the interview.
15:45One of the most famous sketches saw Crystal interviewing wrestlers slash actors,
15:49Hulk Hogan and Mr. T.
15:51Despite their attempts to keep a straight face,
15:53Hogan and Mr. T both break character near the end of the sketch,
15:56after Crystal ad-libs a line about exercise equipment.
16:00I was at... I was at a Hollywood party where this wasn't all dirt,
16:03if you know what I'm saying to you.
16:07It would appear that everyone is susceptible to breaking
16:10while in the presence of a gifted comedian like Billy Crystal.
16:13You know when you laugh, your little things, they go bambi, bambi, bambi, bambi, bambi.
16:19This sketch from 2009 had no shortage of top-notch comedic talent.
16:23We caught these kids drinking beers behind Pathmark.
16:26Tracy Morgan, Kenan Thompson, Jason Sudeikis, Bill Hader, Andy Samberg
16:30and Bobby Moynihan are all featured.
16:32And when that many funny people are in a room together,
16:35things are bound to get a little silly.
16:42The sketch saw Morgan and Thompson playing convicts
16:44attempting to scare a trio of kids who were arrested for underage drinking.
16:48The only problem, they keep using the plots of popular movies to describe prison.
16:55Boys, learn your lesson.
17:00Boys, learn your lesson.
17:05Thompson and Hader are the worst offenders in this one,
17:08but everyone cracks at one point or another.
17:10You try making it through without letting a smile creep across your face,
17:13because this here is real.
17:18Featuring SNL legends Andy Samberg, Kristen Wiig, Fred Armisen,
17:22Bill Hader, Kate McKinnon, Maya Rudolph and Taran Killam,
17:25as well as Paul Rudd.
17:27This sketch is a blueprint for how to make A-list comedic talent break character.
17:37The Kissing Family is a recurring skit that involves an outsider
17:40being introduced to an overly affectionate family.
17:42In this instance, the outsider is played by Killam,
17:45and he is justifiably shocked to learn that his boyfriend's family
17:49kisses each other on the lips, among other things,
17:51with zero regard for anyone else's feelings.
18:02Armisen cracks first, followed by Hader,
18:04but there are fissures of laughter peppered throughout the entire sketch.
18:07With this much talent in the room,
18:09it's no wonder this sketch devolved into a full-on breakfest.
18:22NBC vs CBS
18:24As longtime friends and collaborators,
18:26it isn't exactly surprising to learn that Justin Timberlake
18:29does a mean Jimmy Fallon impression.
18:37He got to bust it out during a 2013 appearance on SNL
18:40during a game of Celebrity Family Feud.
18:42And guess who was also playing?
18:44Jimmy Fallon.
18:51Fallon, who is infamous for his inability to keep it together during sketches,
18:55was playing the Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons.
18:57The two celebs went toe-to-toe right off the bat
19:00and immediately had to turn away from the camera to hide their laughter.
19:13Later, Timberlake's impression was so accurate,
19:16it caused Fallon to duck behind his podium,
19:18struck by a serious case of the giggles.
19:21So great, it's classic Fallon.
19:27The late, great Phil Hartman was a fixture on Saturday Night Live
19:30between 1986 and 1994.
19:32In that time, he portrayed a slew of iconic characters,
19:35not the least of which was his hilarious impression of Frankenstein's monster.
19:44In this sketch, Frankenstein's monster, Tarzan and Tonto
19:47are being asked what they think about things like fire and bread.
19:50This naturally leads to some hilarious responses
19:53from the three famously poor speakers.
20:00We actually have to applaud Hartman for staying in character as long as he did.
20:04However, even the best break eventually.
20:18For Hartman, that moment came when he was asked
20:20how he felt about a recent nuclear arms treaty.
20:23This stuff never gets old.
20:27Introduced in 1999, the Boston teens made regular appearances
20:30during the run of Jimmy Fallon and Rachel Dratch.
20:40Known for their thick Boston accents and love of the Red Sox,
20:43as well as for constantly bickering and making up,
20:45the characters regularly caused others to bust a gut.
20:53One of the most infamous cases involved Boston boy Ben Affleck,
20:56who simply could not contain his laughter
20:58while at a party with the Boston teens.
21:00Watching him say bro over and over again
21:02while struggling to keep it together is priceless.
21:05Naturally, Fallon couldn't keep a straight face either.
21:10Adam Driver helped SNL kick off their 44th season
21:13with a handful of hilarious performances
21:15that all deserve their time in the spotlight.
21:17However, this list is about actors breaking character,
21:20so we'll focus on just one, Career Day.
21:30In the sketch, Driver plays an elderly and ruthless oil baron
21:34who visits his son's class for Career Day.
21:44Pete Davidson plays the son,
21:46and boy is he ever put through the ringer.
21:48Driver delivers a blistering performance,
21:50causing Davidson to break character on multiple occasions,
21:53including the first time he's addressed.
22:02From there, it's all downhill for the young actor,
22:05as Driver never once falters in his performance.
22:13It was clear from the first minute of this sketch
22:15that host Ryan Gosling was not gonna make it through
22:17without breaking character.
22:30After being abducted by aliens,
22:32Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong, and Gosling
22:34each recount their experience with the extraterrestrials.
22:44However, McKinnon's version differs wildly from the other two.
22:48So much so, in fact,
22:50that Gosling was basically stifling a laugh for the entire sketch.
22:53Strong, Bobby Moynihan, and Aidy Bryant all eventually broke,
22:57and even McKinnon had to repress a laugh at one point.
23:00Later in the episode, Gosling fell victim
23:02to a hilarious performance by Aidy Bryant,
23:04whose portrayal of a boundary-less teenager
23:06caused him to once again break character.
23:13No one knows how dirty I am.
23:15Do you like that, Mr. Dillham?
23:20Actually, no, I do not like that, okay?
23:23That's disgusting.
23:27Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph took a forgettable game show sketch
23:30and elevated it to new heights
23:32with their hilarious fake European accents.
23:34Show Debra what was in her showcase.
23:37Bad news, Debra.
23:38You didn't win his and hers matching luggage by luggage guy.
23:41It's not luggage guy luggage.
23:43It's just a bunch of luggage from some place.
23:45The two SNL alumni play off each other beautifully,
23:48though that means as soon as one breaks character,
23:50the other isn't far behind.
23:54If you love golf, you'll have the next prize.
23:56You didn't win.
23:57Things start to spiral out of control
23:59when the two women roll up in a golf cart.
24:01While Wiig immediately catches a case of the giggles,
24:04Rudolph manages to stay in character a little longer.
24:07You'll be a rough swinger with these.
24:10Matching golf clubs by golf club guy.
24:18Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Bill Hader,
24:21who has to hide behind his hands to contain his laughter.
24:24The whole thing culminates with a still laughing Wiig
24:26crashing through the set in a golf cart.
24:28Seriously, how did they come up with this stuff?
24:31It's almost time for 12 o'clock!
24:37Number 8.
24:38Lovers in the hot tub.
24:40Surprise, surprise.
24:41A sketch featuring Will Ferrell and Jimmy Fallon
24:44ended in multiple people breaking character.
24:46Barbara, what brings you to the prestigious Welchley Arms?
24:50The usual.
24:51Quiet strolls, family style dining, archery.
24:55This iconic bit saw Ferrell and Rachel Dratch
24:57playing overly affectionate lovers soaking in a hot tub
25:00and trying to play matchmaker to Fallon and host Drew Barrymore.
25:03Dave, Dave, Dave, David.
25:12Well, as you can probably glean from Ferrell's ridiculous costume,
25:15it didn't take long before everybody was on the verge of a full-on meltdown.
25:19Barbara Hernandez is the top female archer in the Northeast Division.
25:27That's unbelievable.
25:29Tack on the fact that Ferrell later admitted
25:31that the goal was to, quote, make Jimmy Fallon laugh,
25:34and you have the recipe for a sketch that's guaranteed
25:36to have multiple broken characters.
25:38Need more proof that Ferrell is a character-breaking machine?
25:41Check out his short shorts for the USA clip.
25:44You are welcome.
25:45I guess what it all comes down to is that the angle of my dangle
25:51is inversely proportional to the heat of my meat, right?
25:57Number 7.
25:58Right to extreme stupidity.
26:00In this iconic sketch,
26:02SNL legend Gilda Radner and host Candace Bergen
26:05prove that breaking character is as easy as flubbing a single line of dialogue.
26:09You're not too bright, are you, Fern?
26:12I mean, whatever your name was.
26:16The slip-up occurs when Bergen accidentally refers to Radner as Fern,
26:20which is actually the name of Bergen's character.
26:23While Bergen attempts to rectify her mistake,
26:25Radner uses her trademark wit to destroy her, quipping,
26:29We all can't be brainy like Fern here.
26:34At this point, all pretense of finishing the sketch as planned
26:37has gone out the window, as both women are dying of laughter.
26:41Extremely stupid people are discriminated against all the time,
26:45and I should know, and so should Fern, because we are.
26:50It's moments like this that make SNL so much fun to watch.
26:54Happiest place on Earth?
26:56Debbie Downer is one of the funniest characters in SNL's prestigious repertoire.
27:00Brilliantly brought to life by Rachel Dratch,
27:02Debbie can instantly transform any situation into a total bummer.
27:06For the other characters, that is.
27:08Roy of Siegfried and Roy.
27:10He was attacked by his own tiger and suffered devastating injuries.
27:15As far as the audience, cast members, and viewers at home are concerned,
27:19she is a riot.
27:21One of her most famous appearances occurred at Disney World,
27:24where she somehow managed to ruin the happiest place on Earth
27:27with her depressing anecdotes.
27:29While Fallon breaks first, shocker, Dratch is not far behind.
27:39This inevitably caused the whole thing to fall apart,
27:42This inevitably caused the whole table to crack up.
27:44Horatio Sanz cries, and Lindsay Lohan bangs the table in a fit of laughter.
27:49All the while, Dratch can barely keep it together.
27:55In this hilarious sketch from 2004,
27:57host-slash-musical guest Janet Jackson visits a winery
28:00and learns how to soak corks from a group of Italian winemakers.
28:04The scene is littered with double entendres meant to have viewers in stitches.
28:12However, as the writers probably assumed
28:14when they penned this side-splittingly funny sketch,
28:17it was the actors who were laughing harder than anyone.
28:26With giggles emanating from all corners of the set,
28:29Jackson can barely get her lines out,
28:31and honestly, we feel for her.
28:42Soaking cork?
28:43Well, she used to when we were dating. Now, not so much.
28:47However, the biggest surprise was that perpetual character-breaker Jimmy Fallon
28:51stayed composed throughout the entire sketch.
28:57Few comedians are as revered as the late, great Chris Farley.
29:01He could make anyone break with his unique brand of physical humor,
29:04and often did.
29:05I am 35 years old,
29:08I am divorced,
29:10and I live in a van down by the river.
29:15While he has a slew of iconic SNL characters,
29:18you'd be hard-pressed to put any of them above Matt Foley, motivational speaker.
29:22Brian, from what I've heard,
29:26you're using your paper not for writing,
29:28but for rolling doobies.
29:31In the character's first Saturday Night Live appearance,
29:34Farley managed to break host Christina Applegate
29:36and SNL regular David Spade in seconds with his over-the-top performance,
29:40which included hoisting Spade into the air
29:42and warning the teens about ending up like him.
29:45He broke everyone else the moment he screamed,
29:48I'm sick and tired of living in a van down by the river.
29:54In this 2001 sketch,
29:56host Sean Hayes joined Jimmy Fallon and Will Ferrell in their Jeffrey sketch,
30:00which sees the three men playing retail workers at a high-end clothing store.
30:04Yeah, look, we don't carry diesel. We work at Jeffrey's.
30:07We read Italian Vogue. It's our deal.
30:09The gag involves them being extremely rude and condescending to customers
30:13who they deem unstylish.
30:15True to form, Fallon is laughing before the skit even begins.
30:19This is a genuine Looney Tunes jacket.
30:28Hayes breaks shortly thereafter, and for the rest of the sketch,
30:31the two men can barely contain their laughter for more than a few seconds.
30:34Once Will Ferrell appears on a motorized wheelchair,
30:37this sketch is over and done with.
30:50Oddly enough, this isn't the first time a clothing-based sketch
30:53involving Horatio Sanz and Jimmy Fallon
30:55devolved into one giant character break session.
30:58We give you The Leatherman.
31:01Customers...
31:05Makes no sense, really.
31:09Featuring vets like Will Ferrell, Jimmy Fallon, Chris Kattan,
31:13Chris Parnell and Horatio Sanz,
31:15not to mention the indomitable Christopher Walken,
31:17More Cowbell is the stuff of sketch comedy legend,
31:20and was so the second it began to air.
31:23Are you sure that was sounding okay?
31:25I'll be honest, fellas, it was sounding great,
31:27but I could have used a little more cowbell.
31:32The cast plays Blue Oyster Cult,
31:34while guest Walken portrays record producer Bruce Dickinson,
31:37a man who has a fever for more cowbell.
31:40Watching Ferrell gesticulate all over the room
31:42in a shirt that is way, way, way too small
31:45is absolutely side-splitting.
31:47I'd be doing myself a disservice,
31:49and every member of this band
31:51if I didn't perform the hell out of this.
31:53Walken breaks, Kattan breaks,
31:55Sanz breaks, Fallon breaks,
31:57even Ferrell breaks.
31:58In the pantheon of SNL's worst or best character breaks,
32:01this one takes the cake,
32:03or as the case may be, the cowbell.

32:24You all knew Stefan would be back at number one.
32:27In this all-time moment,
32:29fan-favorite Stefan stops by Weekend Update
32:31to advise party-goers on where to find
32:33some not-so-family fun on Halloween.
32:36Located in an abandoned white fish factory
32:38in little Israel.
32:40Bill Hader breaks character numerous times,
32:43something he'd replicate in an autumn-themed appearance
32:45a couple of years later.
32:47Needless to say, this place has everything.
32:49Skunks, K-Fobs, Cookie Crisp,
32:52Dan Cortez.
32:55As one YouTube commenter points out,
32:57it makes you wonder whether Hader developed
32:59Stefan's signature hand-over-mouth quirk
33:01as a way to hide his constant giggling.
33:12Throughout the clip,
33:13Hader finds himself unable to speak,
33:15overcome by laughter.
33:17And while Seth Meyers does his best to remain composed,
33:19he is far from invincible
33:21when it comes to keeping a straight face.
33:23You know you've come up with comedic gold
33:25when Hader is crying tears of laughter.
33:27Enjoy, folks!
