00:00Good evening from Villa Park where it finished. Villa won, Ipswich won.
00:04Frustrating day all round for Unai Emery. Another frustrating day against
00:09Ipswich. 2-2 draw at Portman Road back in September was among the most
00:16annoying results of the first half of the season and this was again a day when
00:20Villa just, well, two points dropped. Played the majority of the game against ten
00:24men. Axel Tuanzebe, three-time Villa loanee and of course a hero of the 2019
00:30promotion winning side when he was on loan from Manchester United. Sent off
00:34five minutes before half-time for a second bookable offence. There's a
00:39question mark over whether the first booking should have been a booking. Little
00:42doubt about the second one. But that seemed to set Villa up perfectly.
00:45They'd been frustrated by Ipswich at that point. They'd been very much in the
00:48game. 0-0 and you really expected Villa, having, you know, having pushed on
00:54and nearly opened the scoring before half-time, to really take the game by the
00:59scruff of the neck in the second half. Instead it was Ipswich that went in front
01:02through Liam De Lappe. 11 minutes into the second period and though Villa fought
01:07back. Equalised to Ollie Watkins after Marcus Rashford's free-kick hit the bar.
01:12They couldn't find a winner. Couldn't find a way past Alex Palmer, the former West
01:17Bromwich Albion goalkeeper, on debut, or Premier League debut rather, for Ipswich,
01:21who had an outstanding game. Pulled off a string of saves, twice denied Morgan
01:25Rodgers, twice denied Marco Asensio and ended up in a 1-1 draw. So Villa
01:31missed the chance to make up ground on the top five. Missed a chance to
01:36really spring into big games against Liverpool and Chelsea over the
01:41next week. Four games without a win in the Premier League and the kind of
01:45result they just can't really afford if they are to finish in the top five, which
01:50will likely end up placing next season's Champions League. Not the kind of
01:54afternoon they expected when they obviously bought in Daniel Marlon, Marco
01:57Asensio and Marcus Rashford in the January transfer window.
02:03You would be expected to score more than one goal against ten men.
