00:00Another good news, President R. Marquez Jr. passed a law that will allow Filipinos

00:07to have working professionals who can get their college degree

00:11without having to go through the traditional schooling method.

00:15This is Crazel Pardini for PTV Manila in Balitang Pambansa.

00:21To give the opportunity to professional workers

00:25to complete their college degree

00:27through alternative methods,

00:31President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr. passed the Republic Act 12124

00:37or Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program.

00:41An individual can be given an academic degree

00:44based on their knowledge gained from formal and informal studies or training

00:49and experience in work.

00:52But the applicant must not be below 23 years of age

00:56who has completed a secondary education that can be proven through a high school diploma,

01:03result of the Philippine Educational Placement Test,

01:06Alternative Learning System Accreditation and Equivalency Assessment,

01:10and certification.

01:12They must be proven qualified to enter a college or to be given an academic degree.

01:17It's better because, of course, you also worked hard for your profession for many years.

01:26So, for me, it's okay to give what you deserve.

01:32The Commission on Higher Education of CHED

01:35will be the primary agency that will implement the new law.

01:39As part of their duty,

01:41the higher education institutions must follow the programs for academic purposes

01:47for the program.

01:49The monitoring of the assessment of skills and the assessment of individual skills will be conducted.

01:55CHED also instructed to monitor and approve the implementation of ECEAP

02:01and to conduct a wide consultation with other agencies.
