On Thursday 6 March, working as part of the Joint Agency Task Force, officers from across a number of Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) departments were joined by colleagues in An Garda Síochána to carry out a pre-planned, coordinated Day of Action targeting those who would seek to exploit the border region for criminality.

00:00Hello, my name's Adam Corner, I'm a Chief Inspector in the Police Service of Northern
00:04Ireland and I'm based in the South area which takes in the geographical area of this section
00:10of the line between Armagh and County Louth. I'm proud to be involved in today's JATF operation
00:16with colleagues from An Garda Siocona and utilising a number of PS&I resources in order
00:21to control the strategic road network and deny criminals the use of the road. Criminals
00:27who look to exploit our border region and border communities and it's through working
00:32with An Garda Siocona and sharing information that we will relentlessly pursue those who
00:36look to cause misery and those who look to commit crime in the border area. I'm Sergeant
00:41Declan Higgins with the Lowndes Road Policing Unit. We're tasked here as well to deny the
00:46criminals the use of the road networks here in the South of Ireland and again with the
00:50assistance of our colleagues up in the Northern Ireland PS&I we work closely together in that
00:55task. We're taking a snapshot of traffic that's passing across the border today over
01:02a period of a number of hours and already we've come across a whole varying range from
01:07drug driving to drugs to no insurance etc. So really what we're trying to get is put
01:14a presence out there just to show that we are working together you know to help the
01:18community in the border area. Yeah so when we plan these joint operations we look to
01:24set the same strategic priorities so we look to work together, share information, share
01:30that type of intelligence that will reassure the border community and hopefully allow criminals
01:35to see that if they come to the border area we will be jointly taking action against them.
