00:00I'm working on the trim around the window and stuff. It's looking so good. He just all of a sudden started yelling
00:07Here's the growl color chart we're going for strength here. I have a functioning bathtub in there
00:14Bye tonight. It's gonna work perfectly
00:26Good morning guys, welcome back to the vlog
00:30Today my hands are so sore. They're not they're sore, but they're like
00:36How do I explain it I did tiling yesterday and I've tried to use gloves when I
00:42Lay tile and it's just always in my way. Like I just can't use
00:47The gloves I do use gloves when I actually cut the tile
00:52But it ends up just like tearing up my hands, but it's okay. They'll heal they've done before today
00:57we are running into town this morning because I need to get a
01:03Transition piece for this. I'm not gonna show you
01:06I
01:07Need to get a transition piece
01:09I need to do some more top tiling and then the back wall is done with the tiling I can move on to
01:15The trim and stuff. So we've got to run some errands. I got to run to the hardware store
01:19I also need some like salt pellets for this water softener
01:24and
01:26I made a list on my phone. I had this transition piece, but it's not long enough and I it's too
01:35Lux, I don't know something about a piece of like
01:39Metal going across that back is like not giving the cottage vibe that I want
01:43And I think that's why I didn't use that thing before and it was kind of expensive
01:46I wish I could return it, but it's been too long. Baby. You ready?
01:49Just got the baby ready and we're gonna we're gonna head out. Do we need to go anywhere else besides the hardware store?
01:55Huh?
01:59I'm sure you I'm sure you want to go to the Goodwill
02:03Romeo said
02:04He took the baby with him to Goodwill and he was checking out and what's this?
02:08He just all of a sudden started yelling
02:12He was like it was it like
02:25Started laughing. Are you yelling in the thrift store?
02:31You're so cute look at this little feetsies little handsome guy. Oh
02:37You always want my microphone
02:53The trim that I didn't get the other day because it started raining and I was like
02:57Have a truck. I have to put it in the back. It's a
03:00trim I brought this tile that I did in the bathroom because
03:05Something about the grout that hot cocoa grout is not it. I don't think that's gonna work. So I need that need some salt pellets and
03:13What was that other thing? Oh the transition as well between the tiles
03:34I
03:40Here's the grout color chart
03:42So I have mocha mocha is what I did in the in the kitchen. It looks different here, though
03:50This is a different brand. I think no, I think it's the same
03:54I did mocha in the kitchen, but it's like not reading right Bahama beige is like the same color
04:01Like it would be
04:03No contrast at all, which okay
04:06Chocolate is same color but darker and I don't want to go like I don't want to do this
04:12It's gonna make it look more gray like more. I don't like that
04:16You know when this is like pink
04:20No, no, no, it's gotta be up here
04:23It's gotta be I'm thinking Bahama beige and just do it all the same here all of the tile
04:29Transition pieces and I have like a metal one like this, you know, it's just too slick
04:36this is what my mom used these PVC options and
04:41This one's very squared off. I kind of like the round
04:45shape because then I
04:50Think it adds like a softness to it. I like that
04:53I think my mom did round as well. And I really like that and then we could paint this PVC
05:00The same color to match so it's like tonal. I did see a round metal one right here. It's like
05:08That's like freakishly similar, but these metal ones are a lot more expensive
05:13It'd be $30 for one piece. I need over one piece. I need like a piece and a little bit and these are only
05:20A lot this one's $9. So like less than half the price
05:28And it looks nice
05:31And I got a backer board because I think I'm gonna need it I I need some like small pieces
05:36So I'm gonna cut this up. This is what you put the tile on this concrete backer board
05:41It makes it stronger and the mortar sticks to it really well
05:45With my finger to
05:47Work out
05:49Concrete is kind of heavy. I
05:51Also took some pictures of some other materials
05:54If I decide to do a wall treatment, I think I found something nice
05:57I can use but I want to measure and make sure that you know, I'm
06:03Being intentional with what I'm buying instead of just getting it now and not knowing how much I really need
06:09This is good for now and I got the salt pellets
06:15Good morning guys
06:16It's a day and a half later and I've been to the hardware store two
06:21Additional times since I saw you and it's not close by I try so hard and assess everything that I need
06:27But then you get into a project and you realize you either don't have the right tool or you need something different
06:34you know, it's
06:35You can only do so much and I've always said it's like for every project that I do
06:39You have to take three trips to the hardware store to get supplies or tools or something. So that happened to me yesterday
06:46I really dove into doing the tile work on the back of the the tub and working on the trim around the window and stuff
06:54It's looking so good and I've pivoted a design direction now that the room is
06:58Starting to come to life and things are getting like put into the room
07:04The room is kind of telling me what it needs
07:06And a direction I thought I was going to go with maybe like painting all the trim and stuff
07:10I'm actually going to do something a little different. Um, and so you guys will you guys will see in this
07:17Sunday's videos
07:18So I have another full day of working on the bathtub area of the bathroom and i'm really hoping and I don't think I need
07:22To hope that bad because I think it's really going to happen. We're going to be moving the bathtub in today
07:28Which is very exciting
07:29Um, so that whole section, you know of the bathroom is going to feel
07:34A lot more complete, you know, i've had these elements and supplies for so long
07:40That it's nice and feels good for them to go into the right spots
07:45my piles of things that i've been saving and and ordering and having
07:49is getting smaller and smaller and smaller like my wood is starting to dwindle outside because the trim is getting into the house and
07:55you know the bathtub we've had for since since I ordered all of the
08:00Faucets and the sinks and things like it's just been like out of place, you know collecting dust
08:05so
08:05Now it's it's going to be exciting for all of those
08:08Things to be in their proper place and the faucets to be out of the boxes and onto the wall
08:14Oh my gosh, kade. He's in this like baby dinosaur phase where he's like
08:20Like his screams are so crazy. So today on the list I have to
08:24Dehaze the the floor one more time
08:27Put the sealer down on the floor and the
08:31Kind of backsplash behind the tub clean everything do some work on the trim
08:36Move the tub in if we get there install the faucet and the drain so we could
08:42Have a functioning bathtub in there
08:46By tonight, which is really really exciting. I picked up some last night and I was working but not a ton. So
08:53I was like, okay, I need to reset I need to like pick everything up that i'm not like using right this second
08:58and just
09:00Especially off the floor because I need to dehaze everything today
09:03Just have like some samples that i've been like kind of like testing for like window stops and door stops
09:09that door stop that we got from the hardware store the first trip that you guys saw is going to work for the
09:15Windows as well because it was pretty much the same
09:19Material that the original house had was just you know
09:22Window and door stops are pretty much the same just has a decorative in and then a flat solid in
09:27And so that's what helps the doors or the windows kind of like have something
09:31Um clean to like slide against you know, and so they don't move back and forth. They keep them really secure
09:42I like I need to dehaze in there
09:49So
10:14Let the dehazing commence I bought
10:18a spray bottle though because I felt like
10:21The concentrate that I got was this one cement grout haze remover and it's a concentrate you mix it with water
10:27Um, but I was mixing it into just this like little bucket and I was having to pour it
10:32And I don't think I was able to get it, you know, like fully covered
10:35I was kind of trying to spread it around wasn't really working. So I got a
10:39Spray bottle for us to use for this. I already dehazed some of it
10:42Like you guys saw it was like right in front of the tub area and then over by the toilet
10:47It was like i'm about to make a mess all over again tiling the back
10:52Splash behind the bathtub. What am I doing?
10:55I'm making this perfect and clean and ready to go and then i'm gonna make a mess again
10:59So I decided to stop work on the back splash and then just clean it and seal it all at the same time
11:05It's like I just feel like it's a much better use of my time. This bottle has a dilution
11:11Measuring so this is I think
11:13Four or five to one five to one and do it four to one with a more concentrated solution because it says you can't
11:19We're going for strength here
11:35Let me get some fresh water in my bucket too
11:40So
11:44Five minutes on a section take it section by section
11:47Well, I found some other supplies. I need to find some paint actually that I color matched for the kitchen
11:53Because the tile i'm using here is very similar in color
11:56Okay, I actually think I found that paint that I needed
11:59I just have a little trim piece that I want to paint the same color as the new tile that I put up
12:04I want to test it first. I'm going to put it on a scrap piece
12:07Let's hope that this is the one I need such a small amount that i'd like to not have to get anymore
12:22It's gonna work perfectly
12:25Love it when a plan comes together
12:27Not playing around with this floor anymore. I'm wearing my knee pads. It was like fine the first time, you know, like okay going over it
12:34Once and you know having to like bend down and do it fine
12:39The fourth time not so fine. My knees are starting to hurt. Hey, you can't be in here little cutie go
12:46Okay, let this be the last time I have to scrub this floor. Let it be perfect, please
13:05So
13:28Okay worked in there for a little bit
13:30Sealing the floors and stuff. This is the only waste that I had from the project
13:34So i'm very cautious about how i'm using the tile. So I never use the 10
13:40Overage that I buy for tile, but we have it just in case anything breaks or I don't know
13:45We need it for another project or something, but this is it. That's all I had
13:48Okay, I need to stain some things
13:50So I had to watch one of my old videos to figure out a combination of stains to match the house
13:55And I figured it out that I need gunstock and mahogany
14:00My gunstock was almost empty and it like messed up with like the temperature and stuff my gel stain mahogany
14:07Totally fine so I can use that but I need to get gunstock. So guess where we have to go again
14:15My second home, but I need to figure out anything else that I need because I'm not gonna make another trip today
14:20Okay made it to the harbor store got one of the stains that I need
14:24But of course this type of stain that I needed was at Home Depot and the trim I need is at Lowe's
14:30I've got to make two stops. Now. We've made it to Lowe's I need
14:35stops
14:36Door stops window stops, whatever you want to call them that are not twined already
14:44Lowe's is so underrated
14:45There's so many people at Home Depot and there's no one at Lowe's like no one. I love Lowe's
14:50I didn't stain that the only Home Depot carries. So there's that. Okay, so that's probably why I didn't get it
14:56In a non-primed version because I didn't have it. I might have to get creative here
15:00And actually use this one I used for the transom windows
15:04That's smaller, but I need I need more width here. Like I need it to be more solid here
15:11so i'm thinking i'm gonna have to get
15:14A simple very simple
15:20And make it
15:22Thicker like I feel like I could i'm literally on the floor. I'm on the floor at the hardware store
15:27I feel like I can make my own ones of these
15:30with like wood I can like
15:32cut my own
15:34For probably a lot cheaper more work, but I mean I have the tools to do it. So it comes in handy
15:40I just don't know what else to do. Like I need them thicker
16:11Do
16:23You
